Puncturing sweep ... how is that fair?

we want to know what your setup is so we can determine why you got smashed like that. Level/skills/gear/etc.

Most of those look like crits. High crit build? Lucky? Are you actively trying to get away from that or standing there?

I use it as my finisher, But it really is the only tool in the templar line and it can be dodged pretty easily. It also has a pretty high mana cost to use. How do you handle Sorcerers crystal shards?

Ok so i m a NB vr 12 my stats are magika 1888 hp 2677 stamina 1910 ... i have 49% wepon crit and 29% spell crit.... i have 5 medium and 2 light... i have warlock, set night mothers (5set), willows path (3 set), infused on the big armor(head chest and legs) impenetrable on small items( belt sholders feet and haands) i m full yellow on enchants and full yellow for all items except the 4 small ones with impenetrable...

i have a bound button for interrupt and a bound button for dodge...

if i get hit by 1 crystal shard i cc break and the won t *** hit me agian...

i got hit... i had like 500 stamina left so i used dodge roll... (PUSHED BACK AND USED MY ROLL BUTTON) nothing happened i tried agian... and nothing happened... i was getting hit 3-4 time and couldn t move so i tryed blocking... nothing happened.... i TRIED shadowy disguise.... i still got hit... was inviz for 0.2 seconds... by this time i had stamina for cc break... so i ve hit interrupt button till i died!

i even tried to hit potion on one point... and i was in group with a rank11 sorc from my guild he got killed the same way... tried the same *** dodge... and interrupt and he even tried to blink....

Based on the tool tips, published descriptions, and my own experience playing as a templar, Puncturing Strikes and its morphs only work in a cone in front of the caster and neither the original form nor either morph comes with a lockdown (no snare, no root, etc). It's just four quick strikes to any foes in the cone and a knockback for one of them. The Biting Jabs morph can get up to a 70% crit chance vs. badly wounded enemies, while Puncturing Sweep has a slightly larger cone of effect instead. Can you be sure you weren't hit with something else prior to Puncturing Strikes that might have a lockdown?

The closest thing I can think of off of the top of my head in the templar skill lines that has any kind of ability to immobilize an opponent is the knockdown done by Piercing Javeline, which I've found is really hard to use in PvP because it has a small area of effect. Someone has to stand still for at least a couple of seconds after it is activated or run into it by chance to be hit. Plus the knockdown only effects a single enemy in the area of effect, which doesn't sound like what happened to your group.

Technically the Sun Fire ability can snare for 40% but only against single targets. The only other candidate inside the templar class would be the ultimate ability Nova, in particular the Solar Disturbance morph, which only snares those in its areas of effect up to 60%. Those don't match your description either. Of course, other classes may have been involved unless it was just the templar attacking.

Like others here and elsewhere have noted, Puncturing Strikes and its morphs aren't used as much in Alliance War battles as they are in PvE because it is easy to dodge and people have to keep standing in front of the caster to be targeted. Even mobs sometime move to the side or jump behind me, forcing me to turn or back up to keep them in the targeting area. This is the first I've heard of targets being immobilized. Even the earliest notes for the upcoming 1.2 patch only mentioned Puncturing Sweep getting a healing bonus, with nothing at all about lockdowns, so if the immobilization you experienced is tied to Puncturing Sweep rather than some other ability or to lag it sounds like a bug.

I don't have Puncturing Sweep as I took Biting Jabs for the morph to use as a finisher, but whatever happened might affect both morphs. I will try it next time I am in Cyrodiil to test whether or not enemies can escape. Maybe some folks who do have Puncturing Sweep could try it against players and report the results?

sounds like you got hit by lag, and all of that damage was reported to you at once

Most definately lag, Puncturing sweep has been nerfed with a small global cooldown to avoid stuff like this happening, and hasnt been an issue since then.

I think alot of death recaps look like that, but not only by Puncturing Sweep, but alot of other abilities too, death caused by lag.

it wasn t lag.... and the cd was nerfed... and then all the templar qqed and it was buffed agian... another sorc died same way like 2 mins before me... and i found the same guy agian like 30 mins ago... and i got hit 3 times i couldn t do anything... i got away because he didn t spam the 4th time on CD and then i died from some other dude...

ok so more details.... I was on the offensive... he was defensive and with heal stuff up... i dps he healed i dps he healed... he switched wepons... and use that 1 skill only like 10-12 times on me and i couldn t move becasue every small hit... moved me... i m gonna hunt that dude down tomorrow i m gonna wisper to him taunt him... to try agian... but this time i couldn t do *** after i got cought in it...

I'm sorry, but I as a templar, dodge other templars Puncturing sweeps all the time. The trick is to roll to the side,CC them or BLIND them.

That's right, I as a DW templar, blind other templars using the DW blind ability..and then puncturing strike and morphs cant hit me.

It is a melee ability, so if you blind it, interrupt it..its gone.

Do not dodge BACK, when getting hit by a templar with Puncturing sweeps, dodge through them or to the side, dodging back, you will still be in the cone and hit more.

I still play my templar in PVP (but not PVE anymore, I use my sorc and dk for that) and get hit by this from other templar's all the time. Most skills have a way to get out of them. Like the crystal shards from a sorc, each has a good counter attack.

Bind the interrupt to a key (instead of right click and then left click as that is too slow)

They never did remove the cooldown back to what it was before the nerf, they only reduced the nerf, not remove it.
