And of course, cloaks and such have a long history in medieval-based fantasy... I for one would like one more clothing slot, for "back accessory", which could be a cloak, or a shirt cape, or anything else, really. Big backpack? Possibly. Samurai-style back standart? Why not? Handwritten "Kick Me" sign? Okay... maybe not that... ;-þ

Your statement just ruined my immersion with fact that there are people other than myself in this world and they like things that I don't.dwemer_paleologist wrote: »i do not want a cape or a cloak on my character, and it will ruin my immersion and gameplay to see others wearing them.
They already tried to implement mantles, I.e. they created some models, but they had to realize that mantles of sufficent graphical quality take up far too much prossecing power, (they managed to have a total of two mantles on-screen at once). They'd love to do it but it's currently not technically possible.

Please.
Capes are sooooooo 2001.
Lets go armbands!
Or samurai-ish banners!
Then dnt wear one?... and why would it ruin your immersion? this request is literally by nature immersive and fits perfectly with ESO theme (medieval)dwemer_paleologist wrote: »i do not want a cape or a cloak on my character, and it will ruin my immersion and gameplay to see others wearing them.
Yes they did but, is our job to keep asking for it, as is theirs to keep denying it ;D

It's an unknowlegable fellow that claims to know that cloaks are easy when involved in programming realistic 3D Game engines!
Cloaks and capes, the one article of clothing that has never been in an elderscrolls game. Either they just are not lore appropriate, or clothiers are lazy,

Yes, they are. The cloaks/capes are a fairly obvious invention for any people that is able to work with textiles and need some sort of protection from the cold/rain/sandstorms/whatever.
Both Arena and Daggerfall featured capes and cloaks on some characters:
Cloaks and Capes "disappeared" from most games on the "early days of fully 3D rendering" because it was too difficult to make a good looking cape. Just look at how many games from these "early" days gave up on cloaks; Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights; Dungeon Siege...
The ones who tried made absolutely ugly capes, like modded NWN capes, WoW capes, etc...
Due to 'habit' and more technological complications, the following Elder Scrolls games had no capes as well, but they were always featured on artworks and such from the series...
So, please... I understand the graphical and stability issues that proper capes would bring. But don't come with the lore argument because saying that one of the most common pieces of clothing throughout History and different places of the world wouldn't be lore-friendly on a setting that draws a lot from our own world is simply absurd.
Other than that, keep beating the horse, mates. I do want to see well made, realistic, linen/fur cloaks in the game one day :disagree:
I didn't say it would be easy... I spoke against the word "Can't"... I'm sure it's difficult when trying to render multiple flowing garments... but since we know for 100% sure it CAN be done... I stand by my original statement.
TheShadowScout wrote: »I'd enjoy simple cosmetic cloaks all by themselves. And I can't see how cloaks would need any collision detection of their own, that would certainly take up too much server cycles... if done, all the cloak stuff should be client side.
It's a poor programmer that says it "can't" be done... they just have to figure out the most efficient way to do it.
EQ2 was released in 2004 and if they can manage it, I think ESO should be able to as well.SteveCampsOut wrote: »
Stand there and look silly in your static cape all you want, but I have a background in 3D Graphics design and I'm telling you that Cloaks and capes that fit into this Graphics Engine realistically would be a collision detection/Physics NIGHTMARE and you think there are lag spikes now, just trying getting into Cyrodil with more than 20 flowing capes on your screen at one time!
