Yes please to both, especially capes.

Baffles me that we don't have capes in this game. Just add them to the memento section like hats.

They've already stated several times Capes would severely hurt the (already struggling) Engine. The level of detail and animation needed would increase the lag. One nice cape fluttering in the breeze on you might be fine yeah? Imagine a hundred of them all trying to render at the same time on your screen.

Okay, fair enough. I missed where they said this.

Whether or not it is shameful that a game in 2017 can't render some capes, is a different discussion.

I was playing MMOs with capes in the early 2000s.

It's just the Engine ZOS decided to go with. It may definitely not be the best choice, but it was theirs and we just have to deal. But personally I have no idea what kind of game Engine would be best for an MMORPG. It's much different than you're typical first or third person singleplayer that I'm used to.

Animated cloaks & capes conform to poses so they normally don't look that great to me :P Physics based cloaks and capes are problematic and I think it's mainly due to the Havok physics engine (rarely do we see swimmable water with Havok. Skyrim is one exception though and there's probably more). With the Morrowind update we get inverse kinematics EXCEPT when in group dungeons & PVP areas. ESO seems very light with physics & it's understandable due to the physics calculation costs. That's why we don't see ragdoll deaths. People have complained about animation based deaths in other games but with a large MMORPG like this it's about the only option.
The nerf to intelligent internet discussion still hasn't been resolved.

The problem with above average intelligence is that you're treading a sea of idiots.

The middle ground is to hand animate cloaks and capes to fit with the currently played animations. So it becomes part of the idle animation, or when you're walking. You can get some millage out of this, it's how most Skyrim cloaks mods work, but it is a lot of work, for limited returns. I'm not going to lie, it'd be cool, but probably not worth the effort involved.

    Hello everyone,

This post is to let you know that we've felt it necessary to put this thread down, as it seemed to have died some time ago. At this time we'd like to try and keep Draugr threads from roaming around front page, pushing down newer and more lively threads. Please feel free to continue this discussion on a recent thread under the same subject, or create one if a recent one is not available.

    Thank you for understanding!
