The Endless War (Seeds Quest) Tested WORKING Method.

I tried this method. Killed a mob away from the crowd. The mob finally respawned after two minutes and I hit "e" to plant the seed after positioning myself to get the prompt while being attacked.
It sounds like you're planting a seed on your first kill (wave 1) after the 2nd wave spawns in... the workaround calls for you to only plant one seed on wave 2, wave 3, wave 4, ... wave 7. You never plant a seed on any of the mobs you killed on wave 1 and you never plant a seed on a skeleton (i.e., a corpse that has successfully had a seed planted on it previously).

I agree with others that no workaround should be required, but until a patch comes out this method seems to be the best chance at success for quite a few.

Edit: The instructions do say to wait for the mobs to hit you first, but then you're supposed to kill that second wave of mobs and plant a seed on one of the corpses that died in the second wave--there are no mobs up at this point so nothing should be attacking you while trying to plant a seed.

Thanks for the clarification. It made no difference, though. No animation, no seed planted, seed deducted from inventory.

This method worked a little for me (2/6) :s

But does anyone find it somewhat apt that this quest is called "Endless war" and it's based in the "Cliffs of failure" area?

I think someone has a bitter sense of humour at ZOE.

just FYI, while this workaround did not bring me success, following it's steps was key to discover my personal workaround:

This variation seemed to be working for me after trying everything else and I got to 4/6 before realizing I had accidentally lost a seed with only one remaining. I restarted the quest but then the bodies vanished when the respawn happened. I figured that was the end of this workaround, but the I noticed after killing the new spawn that the "E" wasn't greyed out. The seeding worked. And I noticed then it worked every time no matter what, so long as I waited a couple of seconds for the "E" prompt for planting the seed to turn white. Hooray! Good luck to those still stuck, I hope something works for you soon. :)

This method didn't work for me, I followed it to the letter to no avail.
For some reason it still took a seed, didn't confirm I'd planted it and there was no animation leaving me with only 5 seeds =/.

Every time I've tried this quest I end up with 5/6 planted, this method made no difference to me personally.
Considering the amount of people that have problems with this quest you'd think they'd fix it!

I'm still not able to get a seed planted, tried several times. This method is hard to do now with so many people using the area as a farming site now that it has been published as one on youtube. I believe I'll just have to wait to come back and finish this area afterwards, which is sad since I would rather have more people at the war council to head into the chasm.

So does anyone know if the seeds can now be planted since the 1.1.3 patch? They mentioned it in their patch notes, but I wasn't sure if it was an entire fix or just a partial fix for certain situations.

After the patch I managed to complete the quest and planted all the seeds with no problems. As far as I know it's fixed now.

I am sorry to say I just tried your method for over an hour. No result, maybe the programmers should be putting their efforts in to making the game run properly before adding new content. This is very frustrating

Broken for me also, tried your method and it didn't work, also I was only given 1 seed, not 6 like you said.

Now, you get a 'permanent' seed that does not get used up. There is still a problem doing the seeding though. Perhaps this piece of missing quest text will help:

"A living enemy will need to be present when the Seed is planted so the newly risen will have something to feed upon."

Sort of summarizes the methodology both my friend and I used (at different times) to succeed.

    Good Luck!

This doesn't work anymore as corpses from previous spawn disappear before new respawn.

    This method worked for me.
Do not pick loots. It makes corpse disappear.
Corpses from the 1st mob still existed when I reached to the 3rd wave.
And it seem I can repeatedly seed on them.
  • Markuseb17_ESO15
Did not work for me. I abandoned the quest and picked it up again. I followed your instructions and had the area filled with yellow corpses (without looting). Tried to place the seed on the third kill. No reaction. I tried for about 30 minutes. Then i helped the other two mages to find their lost things and to fill the death rune. Tried to place strange seeds again and again. No way. This is completely bugged. I also have not 6 seeds in my inventory, only "strange seeds" (no number), even after picking up the quest again. I need a fix from ZOS.

PS. Found other players in chat who also have the same problem. I am not alone.

In order to do it, you need to have a humanoid enemy standing ON TOP of the dead person you want to seed. It was the only way I could get it to work. As long as you have another humanoid enemy on top of the seeding corpse it'll work

There is an easier way to complete this quest if you've got the bug. I've done it in 5 mins or so.

    1. Find a group of two mobs, preferably both melee (like warrior or rogue).
    2. Kill one of them.
    3. Kite the remaining mob so he stands on top of the killed one.
    4. Use the seed on the corpse.
    5. Kill the remaining mob.
    6. Repeat until you've got 6/6.

You can try to pull bigger groups of mobs and try to kill one - kite the second on the corpse of the first mob - use seeds - kill the second one - kite the third one on the corpse of the second one - use seeds - kill the third one and so on...

I've did it by killing groups of two and getting 1 credit for each group.

Thank you so much for the quest text idea. I tried the other method, and it didn't work, but when I kited a living mob to stand right on top of the dead bodies i used the seed until one actually gave the animation. Then I used that same body for the final 5 times.

    The bug still exists!

But I was able to tweak the "work around" to work for me. I was able to plant two seeds at a time in a mob of two soldiers which I would repeatedly kill those two while I would never move from the spot I was standing which was between them as they respawned. So, 2/6 went to 4/6 went to 6/6 in three respawns. I never saw any animations from the seed plantings. Just the completed indication.

Thank you to the OP for the hints.

I did finally get to see the animations in action at the Endless Overlook because I chose to save Angor and the Mages from the Cliffs of Failure. Oh ... BTW ... the seed plantings worked perfectly with no hitches at the Endless Overlook. They should have worked this way at the Cliffs.

They could easily stop this quest bugging all the time by making the "seeds" infinite use

Problem with this quest is stupid coding.

The seeds do not work on corpses but on the living enemies, but they only work after they health drops below some very low threshold. Is very difficult to avoid killing the enemy while he's hitting you and be able to use the seed.

    Absolutely awful quest programming :(

And I cannot imagine why this is still unfixed after four months of bugging!

What worked for me: Have a corpse ready (from a previously killed Heritance soldier, do not take the loot!) and kite from the distance another soldier, and keep fighting it near the original corpse.

Try to damage him while trying to avoiding being killed yourself, but do not kill him!

When he's at a sufficient low health, activate the prompt 'Use... blah' on the original corpse, and try to avoid being killed while the animation executes! :D

If you can keep that soldier alive, you can use the same spot multiple times until you reach the 6/6 number.

If you accidentally kill him, lure another one from the nearby spawns.

That's the way I was able to complete the objective.

    Hope's this helps somebody.

Totally cretinous that nigh on two months after release such game-breaking bugs sill exist.

If it was cretinous two months after release, what does that make it now, three months later?

Thanks for the workaround, did the trick for me. I'd much rather see ZOS fix it though, permanently, instead of adding more fluff that breaks more stuff.
