black screen crash and freeze at random

I play the game fine, and at totally random moments the game crashes and freezes, often going to a black screen while last moment audio repeats.

I didn't quite have this problem so intensely (I've always had crashes -_-;) until just after this patch.

it does seem to happen more or less every 20-30 minutes. I swear it drops at the XX:40 hour. .. and maybe the XX:10 hour..? are there some sort of server sweeps that cause the crash?

I don't know. please help me to understand and fix this issue.

Could be the memory leak issue that came up with the new patch. Try following the resource manager while you play to see if ESO eats up all your memory until the game crashes.

Similar issue here, the screen turns black and the audio keeps playing, not in an endless loop, just the music of the zone keeps going as if nothing happened. Thing is, I can't even open the task manager in order to kill the process. Resetting my PC is the only thing that I can do. This started with patch 1.1.2, but is it really connected to the memory leak? Right now I just hope it is..

Same problem here, mine started happening after patch, I cannot tab out of the game any more without getting a solid black screen. Mouse cursor still active, but I cannot get to desktop or start task manager. Hard reset is the only way out , which cannot be good for the PC.
Would really appreciate some feedback on this.
Also started getting massive lag spikes. FPS will drop to 0 and back up continuously.

I guess all that could be down to a memory leak, but how can we fix it?

I had something similar just now when i used windows tab to go to desktop from the game, I saw 2 eso's running(dubble layer icon on taskbar)

In one eso was running as normal,no problem
in the other esorun it was a black screen and i couldn't force shut it down so had to restart computer

I cancelled my subscription because of this. I crashed 3 times in 30 minutes. Longest I've gone is 1 hour or so, but that's if I'm lucky. Like mentioned above, my PC is rendered useless. I have to hard reset to play again.

Don't get me wrong, ESO appears to be a pretty good game, but dropping close to $100 in a 30 day period and can't play it? I'll wait until this issue is confirmed fixed before I even debate renewing. It's very frustrating.
