So...so...so many spelling and grammar mistakes, I don't know where to start.

Well his first error is not capitalising "American", so I would start there, then go on to the misspellings, then the bad grammar, then the wrongheadedness.

    But that's just my opinion.

Lol, even the English don't expect everyone to speak English, I don't. As for everyone playing nicely, it depends who's playing.

Some people stir up racist just by walking into the room, other do their best to calm everything down. (Note I live near Liverpool, where "calm down" is fighting talk.)(No, I'm not joking, just in case you've never visited Liverpool).

Add to the mix nearly two thousand years of insults, wars, politics and worse actually visiting other countries (you either understand that one or not, won't explain it). And European tempers can be lost very easily.

All you can do is try to keep the peace, and hope people get it out of their system.

Who are you telling to calm down!!!!!!!! ;)
I'm from Manchester so I know all about the rivalries :) and we all know Liverpool shouldn't really class itself as English :p

Wish I had thought of replies like these, the only funny ones I could think of definately breached the Forum rules. Don't think Zos would have seen the humour, just the pseudo-antagonism.

I was slightly worried that someone that is not to know would see racism where there was none.

Although we are only joking the underlining problem is that even in a little place like England there is a lot of animosity that stems from where people come from. What chance does a European realm have really?

but it is made all the worse by English speaking people thinking they somehow own the realm, they expect everyone to speak like them, when they can in general not speak any other language themselves. It's hypercritical in the extreme. As an English person, it makes me look bad.

Indeed, which is why I keep say we Brits don't expect anyone to speak English, or at least I don't.

As for the rivalies within England, well some take them seriously, some don't. I personally don't, which is why I didn't take umbrage at the quip about Liverpool.

The problem is that the population in Germany, France, Italy and Spain dosen't learn English at school, or atleast didn't in the past.
@doggie What the hell are you smoking?

Let me educate you, since i was born in Germany and spent the first 30 years of my life there.

    - Everyone(!), starting in the early '60s, has to learn English in school. It is mandatory!

    - Anyone(!) who moves on to highschool has to pick a 2nd language (of your choice)

That's a minimum of 3 languages (if you count native German) for most of the people 55 or younger. They might not be fluent in all of them but at least they had several years of exposure to those languages in school.
    ;-)

Mm, the problem is, if you don't use it, you lose it. When I was a kid, it was mandatory to take four years of French - in grade school, from 4-8. No requirements for high school (9-13 at the time). That changed around 1987 or 88, not long after I left, anyway.

The problem is, I've very rarely had to use my French, except for a decade or so ago because of business trips to Quebec; fortunately, there would be a Francophone along, so mostly I was able to get away with just ordering coffee. I can do that.

Also, the French I learned would be of little help on the EU server, because I learned Quebec French. ;)

As far as rivalries go, has anyone ever heard traditional Canadian humour? It mostly involves regions picking on other regions (within the country) over cultural differences. Check out "The Toronto Song", usually misattributed to the Arrogant Worms (but they're from Toronto; it's more likely to be Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie, or possibly Captain Tractor, from Edmonton.)

So does the EU server zone chat sound like this board's comments? If so then yeah, I agree something should be done about that. All joking aside, ZoS should make it more obvious that you can have language specific zone chats then just stumbling across it after clicking on the chat tab.
And the world comes to a close once again...

OP obviously has an axe to grind and I have my suspicions about the region of the EU they are from.... anyways as a long time EvE player seeing other languages other than my native tongue does scare me at all (not so in EvE though and for entirely different reasons ;) )

No problem with mixing them together English is dominant

    Few facts
Anti semitism is illegal in German and serious punishments are involved
    France is a liberal country
England is a lot more liberal than the dominant country in this game

If I had to give an opinion as to where the racism would likely come from it would be USA and a specific age bracket of 14-20 .

It's just an opinion of mine that I have formed after observing the behaviour of so many of these people over the years not meant as a personal attack on any one

I believe they are talking about the EU server so I highly doubt US players are playing on that server. And as for USA players spouting racist comments in zone chat, never have i seen that in any zone through out the NA server the 2 months this game has been out.

Didnt read all the posts.. too lazy.

I personally have no problem with the other than English speaking players but...

Why are the server messages broadcasted three times ?

I would imagine they have different localized clients for those people playing in German and French... wouldn't it make more sense to have one broadcast message that was displayed differently per client?

They did this in Final Fantasy XI (as there were no seperated servers. Japanese, English, and even German speaking players all played together). If you played on the English client you saw server messages in English, if you didnt .. it was displayed in whatever clients language you played on.

Just always found that to be odd.

I'm neither Europe and English country.I'm japanese.
But,english is most familiar second language for me.
    (hollywood movie,computer graphics technical book,
    foreign game software...etc)
    So,I choosed North American server.

    >>do you agree on the whole english german and france thing

Yes,I hope so. I want to play with every country players.
But,there is one problem. My second language is only english.
I can't read german and french at all...damn it !

I like german language pronunciation. Once,I saw "nereid" who speak
german language in North American server. I think, that pronunciation fits for
fantasy world. (Don't think deeply,Just my feeling.)

    By the way.....
