Valiant Rogue Style - Please remove sound effects

The Valiant Rogue weapon outfit styles from the Premium Tome rewards track have a persistent ambient sound (not dissimilar to white noise) that is most annoying. Constant background hisses like this often result in fatigue, headaches, and irritability. It becomes exponentially worse if a player is wearing headsets.

I wouldn't care so much if I could simply not equip them myself. But you still hear it when other players around you are wearing them as well.

Please consider removing the sound, or changing it to something other than a constant hum.

I don’t know who thought this could be a good idea, this is awful. I thought we were finally released from the previous arms pack with sound effects and a here is a new one. I just logged off because of this, everywhere I go there is someone with this thing.

Does the armor make the sound, or only the glowing weapons? I only hear noise with the glowy weapons

Yeah, only the weapons. I was on my way out the door when I first posted and misspoke. I let it ride after the fact because I was just too lazy at the time to go hunting for the Edit icon again. LOL!

[Edit] OP edited for clarity.

And for the rest of us, we can hear the weapons' extremely loud sound effects (the one that sounds like roaring thunder) from halfway across the city. Every time a player ports into town, I can hear this loud roar from the other side of town. It puts Leane Luseph's and Zalig's efforts to shame. But really, it's not pleasant and will get annoying fast as more and more players claim these weapon styles.

I noticed that the sound effect plays as soon as a player with such weapon equipped enters my render distance. And it plays at the same volume as if he'd be standing right next to me. It's a bit unpleasant. More so when multiple people with these weapons have reason to travel the same area as I do.

For the love of the Divines can we have the option to turn these obtrusive sounds and light effects off already?

I paid $30 for that sound! I love the sound - it keeps the blood flowing!

In this case, the sound should be audible only to the person using it.

Full agreement here. Ran a dungeon and someone kept swapping back and forth triggering that sound effect almost constantly throughout the run.

Please make it client-side to the player wearing it, or remove the sounds.

Is that the roaring sound I hear while spending eons waiting at the DEs? I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from.

No player should ever be subjected to another players sound effects, ever.

Probably? You can preview the sounds in the premium tome to confirm if that's what you've been hearing.

Dang I could imagine this being really annoying. I don't play games with sound on, I'm always listening to music if I'm at the computer, but this would drive me nuts too if I was using in game sound.

Oh I wondered what that was! I thought it was some annoying new mount lol. But yeah it's very loud and not sure how valiant or roguish it is, seems an odd choice.

It's fine just the way it is. It's not any different from Infallible Aether or Mending Gear we have had for many years. Or the WW howling or any other thing. A lot of people in our Guilds really like it.

It took me a long time to figure out what that grotesque, absolutely unbearable sound was. It initially appeared in Battlegrounds, and I constantly had to mute the sound to play because that hateful noise drowned out all other sounds. But since it's so disheartening to play with all sound effects turned off, I started immediately quitting the game whenever someone brought that disgusting sound into a match. However, I've learned that more people do the same, so it's basically a tool used by bullies to force other players to quit.

It's sad, but this game has completely lost its way since update 49, and since update 50 so much in terms of sound has been destroyed that I'm starting to lose hope that this game will ever be fixed. For me, the best solution would be to restore everything to update 48 and not touch anything else again.

It's fine that you like it, but why should everyone else have to suffer? It's enough that you yourself can hear it, other players should not have to.

I can hardly stand doing my daily writs anymore because that sound constantly playing very loud. That's a routine I've had for years, but now I only do them with one character.

Nobody is asking to remove the option for players who enjoy that noise to hear it. The issue is that others are forced to listen to it without any way to opt out.

Players should have the option to toggle off intrusive audio triggers from cosmetics and skill styles. Paying $30 for a cosmetic should not result in disrupting the gameplay experience of everyone nearby who doesn't wish to hear it.

Having spent thousands of euros supporting this game, my cosmetic choices do not interfere with anyone else's experience — so audio options should work both ways. The audio from these styles should either be client-side or come with a dedicated mute toggle so everyone can play in peace.

Truth be told, I feel the same, that the game lost its way. At least I don't see any coherent direction, and these cosmetics show there is no art direction anymore, like anything goes. I was always against flashy collectibles of any kind, especially because each game has players who would collect and use the most flashy and disruptive collectibles, sometime to annoy or for attention.

I lost hope for the game after the most recent layoffs. It's still unclear what will happen to ESO...

to be fair there is no problem of making such arm pack with sound, but keep the sound only for the player having it, not the entire map of players,
i went to craglorn the other day and one player keep barswapping constantly that i wish there is a friendly fire to hit him.

Removing some effects from paid cosmetics is unacceptable. Sound is part of the style, and if I hear my weapons, I assume everyone around can hear them too - since it's multiplayer game. If something would be advertised as "only you can hear the sounds of this weapon style", I would not buy it :(

And if an option to turn off visual effects from other player's cosmetics will ever be implemented, it would be big reason to stop buying lot of such cosmetics for me. I love some skill styles, but I don't buy them cause they can already be hidden by the option to reduce ally combat effects :'(
It's not a single player game; I love to see how other players customize their characters, and of course I need other players to see how I customize my characters :) They may use visuals and sounds I personally don't like, but it makes the in-game world feel alive and interesting.

Previous Premium Tome had nice little sound when Vanos Dungeon Delve weapons were unsheathed. It was removed very fast after I purchased the Tome :( I still didn't expect such move from designers, so I don't have my records of that sound. You can try to hear it here at 1:07

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrrSgCZLlHE

It resembled a pleasant soft sound of magickal flames appearing, it was really nice!

As for Valiant Rogue weapon style, the whole special effects package (visuals and sound) plus the green markings skin was my reason to buy premium Tome this time.

Glorious Valiant Rogue and (damaged but unbroken by Update 50) Prior Thierric style combo:

    https://youtu.be/ZaItLgtFHD8

In combat when nearby player uses new weapon style - in line with dozens of other random sounds:

    https://youtu.be/xS2fSmn5-Po

How Prior Thierric weapon style was damaged after many years of being awesome:
    https://youtu.be/n35bpKNy738

How it was sounding for a few years (the other player's weapon sounded just as loud):

    https://youtu.be/QSRnZSClcD8

    https://youtu.be/96C8GCRoPSo

Few other special weapon skins are ruined/bugged as well (both weapon styles from "Akatosh vs Alduin crown crates" lost all sound effects before that crate season even left the store, "Whispers of Sithis" weapons lost almost all sound effects 2nd time already and other players can't hear any effects from it anymore) :/

I can't buy a nice cosmetic item nowadays and relax - since it can be changed any time, thus not only wasting my money but removing the fun which such item delivered at the moment of it's release date.
