Where have all the old mini-events gone?

I confess that with each new monthly survival guide that gets published, my heart breaks a little more. It seems that there's always at least one battleground weekend, maybe a golden pursuit. Naturally, there have been bold experiments like the Night Market and before that, the Writhing Wall. But why can't we get some of our old standbys like Gilded Glory or the Explorer's Celebration again? I think the crime mini-event that happened over the last year-ish was fairly popular, but it doesn't seem like there will be another one anytime soon. And wasn't it teased around New Year's that you would be trying the Crafter's Celebration again sometime in 2026 - just hopefully without the same transmute crystal exploit that soured it the first time around?

I think I get why you folks are trying new things with your seasons approach. If you aren't going to pull together a new zone for us to explore every year like in the old days, you're trying out these sprawling, weeks-long events in temporary demizones and adding new content to existing ones, among other things. I just ask that you don't forget some of the "old" things that really worked, as well. The Explorer's Celebration in particular had something for everyone whether they liked to farm mats, catch up on treasure maps, or grind champion points in BRP, etc.

Did we ever even get the fishing mini-event? I was looking forward to it, but if it did come around, I must have missed it.

There was never a fishing mini-event. All I remember is someone saying “it sounds like a fun idea” but it never went past that.

The closest we got was that one Pan-Tamriel actual event that curated fish drops.

I would love for that to happen again though. Even if its not specifically in the Pan-Tamriel event. Especially if its not. Having a nice little fishing event would be great.

Pan-Elswyer was one of my favs, it really drew out the dragon hunters. Similar with Skyrim and the harrowstorms, it is almost the only time you see activity at those older incursions.

I think they stopped because people were complaining about "event fatigue".

With the replacement of the Endeavor and Daily Login systems with the Tomes system, one would argue that there's much less reason to log in every day. I've had days where I realize I don't have to log in, so I just don't — whereas I always made an effort to log on every day to complete Endeavors.

But now we have content being released both in Updates as well as in Seasons, so there are more regular spikes of player engagement with ESO. It felt like yesterday Update 50 dropped, and now Season One is about to happen and I know exactly what content I'm going to grind for the rewards I want.

If event fatigue really dissuaded people from logging in, it's understandable why events happen less often now. Still, I have to wonder if ZOS is happy with the amount of engagement the game is getting from players each day. Is it better to have players logging in every day for short play sessions, or logging in once in a while for (hopefully) longer play sessions?

I do miss the Zone Celebration events.

I have two more pieces to get from Maelstrom Arena and I'm just waiting for the double drop event to come back so I don't waste too much time.

I would love to see mini events come back again. Lately all I see is, updates for hardcore content, fotm class updates for parsers, hardcore group content, etc. I will not be suprised if next coming event, underwater fishing, will also involve devs' new obssession about forcing people to group up. I swear I will never ever group up in ESO again. Treating people like children and forcing them to play in groups, if I wanted to group I would have done it, but this pushing, forcing, so called encouriging people to group up is just sickens me.

I had a pause like 30 days because of that night market thing and came back to log on Zenithar event to force me to group up. Where are these small mini events that we can do and relax? Maybe chat with people while we fish or some events that makes people come together in taverns etc, rather than adding one after another some hardcore group events.

I really am going out of things to do if I am not a part of a community, please consider adding some mini events for easy going players also.

Event fatigue is a non-issue with these sort of events if they don't involve tickets/trade bars. Just take a break if you want.

That was a fishing event for me, haha. I got a bunch if the zone achievements finished as I don't think anything else in the event interested me.

Yes, does sound like a fun idea, always wished they'd bring back the curated fishing for a weekend event.

I like the new event format, but I do feel that a lot of the more traditional events have been put on the back burner by the new team (and the last ESO+ free trial was back in August of last year). It feels like they may have been phased out to make room for Night Market or other new event formats

Personally, I’m fine without them. They became some other form of pressure, especially since they were key to getting the quarterly morphs.

I never did understand the comments about event fatigue and pressure. These events just doubled output from various activities, and (especially in the case of double drops from trials) only reduced the grind.

Mini-events like Gilded Glory never gave event tickets, any more than the current BG weekends do.

It was the main events people spoke on really not the mini ones. The quarterly chase that stretched out over multiple events each quarter.

I have a lot of event fatigue, but I'd give anything to bring back the Pan-Tamriel event. I missed the first one due to RL, and I was so disappointed because that event was practically made for me with the fishing and Antiquity stuff. I can still get a 12-hour boost to treasure map Antiquity leads from the Zenithar's Blessing buff (provided I can find the correct random encounter during the current Zenithar event), but the fishing boost was fantastic too, and that's not part of Zeal of Zenithar.

In fact, I've been wanting ZOS to just fold the Pan-Tamriel event into the Zeal of Zenithar event. It seems like Zenithar should appreciate the labor of fishing just like he apparently does with digging up Antiquity leads.
