Just my two cents, but I suspect I'll skip these as it's too group heavy and I just don't have enough time to run dungeons, etc. Not a big deal really.

I do think this is just a rearrange of endeavors. I had wondered if we would get month-long endeavors at some point and seems that what this is really. Others have said this but this feels like just a new way to do the same feature and not providing anything new. Maybe that's intended?

I completed my first GP today and came away with the same feeling that these are just Endeavors with different makeup. They are not something that will bring me back to playing with any regularity nor will my minimal playing time be spent going after GP completions.

Well, my issue with how the Golden Pursuit was introduced is this: Technically, in the system’s introduction tab, there are three reward categories: Activity, Milestone, and Capstone. However, during this introduction, players only saw two types of rewards—Milestone (the arrow thing) and Capstone (the costume).

    WHAT’S THE PROBLEM WITH THAT?

If you’re introducing a system to a community, the best way to do it is by showcasing how it works in its entirety. Activity rewards are incredibly interesting and should have been part of the debut of the Golden Pursuits because they encourage players to engage in activities in specific locations (like The Rift, Eastmarch, Skyrim and The Reach). Especially when you look at the full promotional image for the Golden Pursuit... I mean, what do you see in that image?

    4sj2967zzknu.png

Here’s what I see: A Nord wearing the new costume, holding a raised axe, with treasure behind him that includes gold and Crown Crates.

And there’s the answer to what could have been included as Activity rewards: Sovngarde Crown Crates are Nordic-themed, and gold always motivates players.

Honestly, looking at that promo image, it feels like you had those rewards planned but took a step back. It comes across as awkward. And for anyone who saw the image beforehand (like me), it’s easy to feel disappointed for expecting those elements to show up as event rewards.

@ZOS_Kevin I think using that promotional image was a pretty big strategic mistake. It creates an expectation that ends in disappointment, and I’m sure that was NEVER your intention. I loved the rewards, but I still felt disappointed specifically because of that promotional image.

NOW - Regarding the event's duration:
I agree, everyone, that these activities shouldn’t be “farmed” like Endeavors or similar tasks. However, I’d prefer if they were more thematic. For example: Complete story quests in Western Skyrim, The Reach, The Rift, or Eastmarch.

By simply saying “complete quests,” literally any quest counts. You can finish this step in 30 seconds by doing Daily Writs, and that’s not fun at all. It almost feels like a hack.

This should be an immersive system where you do activities related to the rewards you’re getting—or at least that’s my perspective. It should be a way for Zenimax to highlight older content. For example, instead of any World Boss, it could be World Bosses from those specific regions, daily quests in those regions, etc., etc., you know?

I really feel like this content lacked a bit of polish in the details. The way it is now, it can be completed super quickly and just feels like another random, mindless activity instead of something fun and thematic that makes us feel like we earned it. Instead of a pursuit, it feels more like “stumbles.” You know? I didn’t have to pursue anything—I just stumbled into random content.

Anyway, I hope it improves! Still, I’m very happy to see a step in the right direction!

we should not be required to do story quests, because in the case of some of my characters, ive done literally all of the story quests, there would be no way to complete it on a character of my choosing (or possibly even at all) if say all of my characters did all of the story quests in a particular zone that might be required for the pursuits

if you dont like doing writs to complete this, then do other quests before your writs if your that worried about it, i personally dont usually do writs at all because i dont like them, but still need the option to do repeatable quests for the rewards if you already finished all the story quests

When I say story quests, I actually misspoke. What I really mean is thematic quests: daily quests in the regions, for example, could serve this purpose. My issue with this is the lack of theming, you know? If daily quests in regions related to Skyrim provided the rewards, I would find that very interesting! But doing quests in Southern Elsweyr and receiving the Nord Hero costume feels out of place.

My only concern is that, from my perspective, the system needs to be more aligned with its main theme—if it has a main theme—to have that sense of "pursuit" within it. Otherwise, it feels, in my view, more like a "golden coincidence."

yeah if it was any quest in a zone related to the theme of the event that would make more sense, though a lot of those major chapter towns all have the ability to do daily writs in them, so it would still be an option for people who wanted it done quickly or inadvertently

personally it doesnt bother me either way, i usually do whatever is easiest/minimal needed to complete these just like endeavors lol

But you can go to the Crown Store and purchase new character slots! Granted, they will already have all the achievements, thanks to AWA, but you should be able to do the quests over again.

what if you have 20 characters that have done all the quests in the region that it requires story quests?

also, i was in favor of account wide achievements, personally believe it was something that needed to happen lol

Well of course you have to delete one character and start the grind all over again! Six months of mount training, all those lorebooks to find again, a year's worth of trait research, hundreds of skyshards to find.... it'll be great fun! Or, you could just buy all the skill lines, research scrolls, skyshards, and riding lessons in the Crown Store! Then start those zone story quests and collect your Golden Pursuits! Easy peasy.

if you were making a throwaway character to do that, wouldnt even bother going into the mount training, skill lines or anything outside of the class and weapon ones really

i know your statement is mostly sarcasm, but i would never buy any of that stuff from the crown store, heck i would say 8 of my 11 current characters have virtually no mount training because i cant just spend gold to buy it all at once in game, and im not buying that stuff from the crown store

so the only mount training most of my toons get is what little we get of freebie training lesson consumables

I agree with everything you said but this. Not everyone has multiple characters to go do story quests on, but even just having it be dailies from Western Skyrim or The Reach would have made it feel a bit better thought out.

To be fair, not everyone has access to all DLCs, and this is just a taste of what they can do, according totge description in the survivor's guide refarding it at the start of the month.

I wouldnt mind if they have dlc content in the Golden Pursuit, I am a paying customer as many more players and expect to get content when im consistently paying Zos for my ESO+ sub.

Do I think the players that dont have ESO+ or dlc to be left out? No but they should not expect 100% same content as the ESO+ subscribers "as long as its not p2w"

Ditto what others have said regarding endeavours v2 but otherwise too early to tell: as a first time, one-off it was kind of fun without the activities being too intrusive or time-consuming. .

The 'in-your-face' yellow gui light at the top of the screen is instrusive, though, kind of like a visual klaxon and doesn't fit the gui's overall ambience at all. Same with the coloured text in the 'Group & Activity Finder'.

Generally, I think any new feature should always have a hide/disable switch added as a matter of course: choice is good.

Visiting 2 houses (your own) - no group required

    5 quests (no group required)

Group dungeon (can solo FG1 with a companion easily OR just hit the random group finder)

WB (go to the first WB in any base game zone and you can kill them easily with a companion)

Seems very group-UNHEAVY to me :)

If there is a group dungeon it is too heavy for me. I will never do a dungeon where I have to take the abuse from other 'Fellow' players. Therefore I will never appreciate Golden Pursuits. What I do know that all this fluff does nothing to fix PvP.

Group dungeons are fairly easy to solo, if you have the CP. I usually take my new characters to Fungal Grotto as soon as they turn lvl 10, so they can farm Dreugh King Slayer set for Major Brutality/Sorcery and 20% more damage. It really helps with the levelling process. And you can save the pieces with the Training trait for your other new alts.

You're never really in any danger, if you have a companion with you and know the minimal mechanics involved. And you should leave as lvl 12, if you kill all the trash as well.

Solo is one thing, group is another.

I don’t take the short cut if FG because it is not needed due to it being a very compact dungeon, but in a solo instance, players can choose the path they want.

If someone groups up, they need to be with 3 other players that want to take the shortcut. A single player cannot expect everyone else wants to do it and just send it.

All of this aside, I expect most players are finishing this part of the Golden Pursuit by doing whatever PUG they would normally do. I did it in a group and got Wayrest. Longer dungeon, but it came with transmute thingies.

I did the Golden Pursuit twice. The other time was FG solo. Over my transmute limit there.

Alternatively, all four can kill Ozozai, open the door, then cut straight to Kra'gh, kill him, and then let whoever wants to go back and kill the other three bosses if they wish. I've done that numerous times with other people, especially during events where some just want the gold box.

And this is another reason why the countdown timer that makes the dungeon disappearshould not start until the last person leaves the dungeon, even if the rest of the group has already dropped group and left. It would make it so much easier for people to stay around and do what they want after the dungeon is done.

This was a nice warm-up. Seems a straightforward system, and these first ones were easy to complete. Hopefully it stays that way!

    Three notes:
1: When unlocking an item, there is no way to get rid of the press "F" to claim your rewards pop-up in the middle of the screen. We need to be able to choose: "Not now", and maybe let it appear on the top right below the golden pursuit tracking/pins. Until we claim it. This message does not always come at a convenient time.
2: When completing a golden pursuit part we are NOT tracking/pinned, there is absolutely no indication we completed anything. Maybe have a "Completed Golden Pursuit" golden label appear at the bottom right when we complete a golden pursuit part(similar to item/gold/endeavour pickup). Both tracking/pinned and not tracking/pinned ones should appear there.
3: Forgot to try this, so if someone could point out if this is already possible, thanks: But allow us to track/pin multiple golden pursuit parts at the same time.

Fun system. Very clear, could use some tuning, but working as intended.
Checked point 3, and we are not able to pin/track multiple golden pursuit parts. This should be possible!

4: Golden pursuits needs more colors per each pursuit event. Right now it is just gold, but this means I constantly check it to see if anything in there has changed, or if a new pusuit event is active. Per pursuit, give the gold a different color borders/edge around it. Example: This current golden pursuit would be gold + green borders/edge, if a new pursuit is activated the colors would be golden + red borders/edge, etc. This way we can easier make a distinction between a new golden pursuit event and the old one, more easily being able to tell a new golden pursuit event has started. This is especially handy when multiple golden pursuit events are activated directly after eachother.

You get what you put into it - Chill/effortless = poor/meaningless rewards.
