Golden Pursuit was that all?

First, thanks everyone for participating in Golden Pursuits and leaving feedback. We'll be going through initial feedback and passing it along.

Just wanted to remind folks that this is the first Golden Pursuit and that the overall Golden Pursuits system is built to be reoccurring and to scale. So some will be more challenging and take more time, while others will be short and sweet. Like we stated in the introduction to Golden Pursuits, some will be a few days while others will take a few weeks or even a few months.

All that being said, initial feedback now that the system is live is really helpful so that we can better refine the experience. Thanks again and enjoy the new Nord Hero Costume!

FYI, the Golden Pursuit update seems to have broken TOT for some people.

I'm in the archive, so I haven't tested things, but I've seen multiple reports now related to players not being able to click the hourglass that makes their turn end.

So the games are maximum time.

When something new gets introduced it always becomes progressively nerfed (everything about the crates/gems, the seals of endeavours, and so on), either by yielding less rewards than before, or requiring more time to complete/increased difficulty. It has happened with the seals, so i think pursuits might also follow this pattern over time.

Wait, you want your chores to take longer?? I want my reward as fast as possible with minimal effort.

Theres already so many things to do now...endeavours, dailies, weekly boxes from trials, writs, RND's, BGs.... I'd like to do as many as possible to get all the rewards, but I don't want any of these things to take me forever either. Its obvious this was a test for the first iteration of it. But I'm glad I don't have to go grind stuff for it. I'm already sick of the grindy nature of some of what I do in game.

The arrow in the knee has defo not been in the game before. Are you kidding? I want an arrow in the knee! The RP potential... ahahaha of course I want that damn arrow

I viewed it kind of as a test run, being the first. Free outfits and such that aren't bland are a nice change. A welcome addition, everything went smooth for me.

Ngl, I´m a bit disappointed. Just feels like "Weekly Endeavor 2". Expected it to be a bit more of a "monthly endeavor" type of thing with multiple milestones along the way with rewards.

Well, according to Kevin's post, the golden pursuits will vary in both length and types of activities, so there might be one somewhere down the line that has a month completion time.

Would be a perfect time to introduce difficulty option on Golden Pursuit, everyone get the main reward but for those who want abit more gameplay out of it then 10mins in 7 days they can choose the other difficulty option and get something extra, could be telwar or anything from in game maybe a motif.

After all im here to play the game and this made me play the game for 10 mins.

They did the same thing with login rewards. The first month we got them there was only about 2 weeks worth in total, then they scaled it up and kept experimenting with the format and 'big' rewards.

Like Kevin said, there will be longer Golden Pursuits in the future, as well as more tasks for you to do to earn rewards.

What I was hoping for, would be a system that rewards excellence and pushes people to strive to be better.

Nothing too crazy, but challenges like beating vMA and/or certain Veteran Dungeons, or scoring past certain thresholds in activities like Battlegrounds, all over the course of a month.

A system to encourage character growth and exploration, not a glorified Endeavor system.

    I disagree.
If we had found hard challenges, everyone would have complained about the difficulty. We found them easy... and now someone is complaining that they are too easy!!!
I am really happy that they were easy and that they did not take much time, since the game itself is very demanding (for those who want to play it fully, of course). So thank you ZOS for the rewards, and thank you because it was not too challenging. Please, keep going like this, do not change!!!

In my opinion, difficulty shouldn’t matter as long as adequate time is given to overcome it, now if they came out swinging with something like, complete Scalecaller Peak on Veteran over the course of half a week, I would agree that might be too challenging for newer/inexperienced players.

Learning how to play takes time, but it also takes motivation, right now that motivation isn’t there.

Guys, I am certain that there will be much more gp with more activities to do for the checkpoints and more rewards per gp. It was just the first one. I on my side fully enjoy both rewards.

And hush: don't tell anybody: The costume has a (small) CAPE!

This was a nice warm-up. Seems a straightforward system, and these first ones were easy to complete. Hopefully it stays that way!

    Three notes:
1: When unlocking an item, there is no way to get rid of the press "F" to claim your rewards pop-up in the middle of the screen. We need to be able to choose: "Not now", and maybe let it appear on the top right below the golden pursuit tracking/pins. Until we claim it. This message does not always come at a convenient time.
2: When completing a golden pursuit part we are NOT tracking/pinned, there is absolutely no indication we completed anything. Maybe have a "Completed Golden Pursuit" golden label appear at the bottom right when we complete a golden pursuit part(similar to item/gold/endeavour pickup). Both tracking/pinned and not tracking/pinned ones should appear there.
3: Forgot to try this, so if someone could point out if this is already possible, thanks: But allow us to track/pin multiple golden pursuit parts at the same time.

Fun system. Very clear, could use some tuning, but working as intended.

Hope they never do this! As I do not want to be 'forced' to spend too much time doing activities I do not like, let alone hard/tough activities. There is already too much in-game dictating how to play, just let me play the way I want to play.

I love freedom in games, the freedom to do what I want to do. Not to do the things the game's systems tell me to do. I really don't know why players keep asking for this type of stuff, you can already go do tough challenges like vMA and veteran dungeons whenever you feel like it. All this challenges stuff does is exclude players from activities, wastes their time, and makes them feel bad. Why does the game even have to tell you to do these things? You either enjoy them, or you don't.

I think there's a bit of a dilemma over how this sort of system is developed.

If the idea is to keep it short and simple, then it just becomes "Login Rewards meets Endeavours" and for most players it won't be worth the effort - which will be different for different players. Take this opening edition, 5 writs and entering your house twice for an adornment most will never use isn't really anything demanding - but then killing a world boss and doing a public dungeon aren't things I'd be able to do quickly, and for a costume I've no interest in it means I won't bother.

On the other hand, I thought the idea of introducing repeatable content was to give players who've done most of or all the game has to offer something to tide them over between content releases, and for that there'd have to be a much deeper and longer pursuit, which for everyone else would detract from actually playing the game.

I don't think we need more fillers like this one, we already have enough with dailies, writs, events, and endeavours etc. We need the reduction in the provision of new meaningful content to be reversed, with a full-sized chapter each year plus an additional content DLC, and a return of 2 dungeon DLCs but with a couple of delves included each time for those who aren't interested in group dungeon content. That's what the proper development of the game should be about, not finding new ways of enabling players to fill in an hour here or there in return for another assortment of dressed-up daily login rewards.

Thought it was obvious being an introduction to the new system, time and tasks were for players to have a week to login and see the campaign and be done in around 10-15 mins with the tasks.

    Very much agree with this.

I'm willing to see the system mature, but first impressions aren't that strong. I get there's a juggling act, but there's this gap between your ultra casual and hardcore vets. That demographic could use some love, and I was hoping this system would target that.

Systems that encourage me to do rote things like read 2 lorebooks or craft random sets don't really add any value. That's not fun, at least for me. I was hoping it'd be more a themed system, like a mini-adventure. Thinking of games like Helldivers 2, where the studios hosts their "campaign" - wish we'd get something similar here. Time will tell.

The vast majority of people you think you'd be targeting with a system like that would look at the requirements, see it's all things they've never chosen to do and so wouldn't do it.

Yes there's a chance there will be the odd person who always meant to try one of them and never got around to it who now has a reminder and an incentive to do it soon, but they'll be the minority. It would mostly be a bonus reward for the people who already routinely play those parts of the game.

A lot of people have no interest in a game pushing them to "strive to be better", they're playing to relax and have some fun and don't want to be put on a timer to clear things they've never wanted to do.

For me a system like this rather encourages me to play the game to 'hunt' for the reward but as been said in this thread I hope this was just a test and there actually some more gameplay involved in the system.

Actually I am pretty happy with it. I mean I belong to those folks that have a full time job for a living and, believe it or not, also family and other spare time activities.

The only complaint I would have is that I miss a sort of narrative arc to it. I would like to have a sort of herold appearing in the cities announcing that sort of activities...

Fellow spriggan, I agree with you!
While I am a no-life person I also think about all the people that have jobs, families, and other activities (I know a lot of them, basically 99% of the people I know) and I am happy if Golden Pursuits will "keep in mind" these people exists too and want to have a chance in participating and getting rewards playing in the only 1 or 2 hours they can save for themselves in an entire week.
So, no complaining from me this time. Happy as it is.

I want to point out that some players I know also asked me "This week I'll just be able to make the housing and writs ones - could you do the other 2 for me?" (WB and Dungeon). So... I'm happy if people with busy life get to enjoy some easy rewards too, since we "no-lifers" have enough to grind for in this game if we want - it's not like ESO is a game without content, you know.
