Redguard revamp

The Redguard passives are so crappy that no one ever uses the race for builds. Not 1 Streamer ever recommends Redguard for anything. I think the passives for this race need to be made more competitive with the other races.

I've been asking for buffs for a while. Seems like the Redguards are the only race that can't do anything well. It's the Jack of no trades and master of none.

    Ideas:
These are some tweaks I would like to see made to the Redguards's passives. Hopefully, they will be seen as reasonable among the devs. They keep in mind the Redguards's reputation for endurance (stamina return) and discipline (reduced ability cost).
"The Redguards of Hammerfell are talented and athletic warriors, born to battle. A desert people, their ancestors migrated to Tamriel from the lost continent of Yokuda. Their culture is based on preserving ancient traditions and defying their harsh environment. They prize honor and dignity above all else, combining a deep reverence for the divine with a suspicion of all things magical. Their capital is the merchant port of Sentinel, but their roots are deep in the sands of the Alik'r Desert. In their youth, Redguards endure a rite of passage in the desolate wastes of Alik'r as a test of endurance and discipline. Only the strongest survive." https://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Redguard

    PASSIVES:

Wayfarer - Increases your experience gain with the One Hand and Shield skill line by 15%. Increases the duration of any eaten food by 15 minutes.

*Martial Training - Reduces the stamina cost of your abilities by 6%. Reduces the effectiveness of snares applied to you by 15%.
Redguards need help as a stamina sustain race. Reduced stamina cost across the board seems fitting.

Conditioning - Increases your Max Stamina by 2000.

*Adrenaline Rush - Increases your stamina recovery by 130. When you deal or take damage, you restore 248 Stamina. This effect can occur once every 3 seconds.
A big problem with the old version of this passive is that it was way too active, requiring you to spend resources to get resources back. It causes problems when you're not in a position to deal damage. No damage; no sustain. This change makes the "adrenaline rush" passive more "passive" and is still tied to being in combat. This also reinforces their reputation for endurance, "the ability to withstand hardship or adversity."

I main redguard wardens (8 of them, 4 accounts both PC megaservers). I'm perfectly happy with the passives as they are now, and have been since I started playing. Caveat: I solo, I don't have any interest in group content or pvp. If that's what you're going on about, if they want to make some battle spirit adjustments so you can do what you think you need to with redguards in pvp, fine. Make it a choice though because I like mine the way they are.

I have 1 redguard stamplar for many years, and she is my favorite character for group content and PvP. I personally do not want any rework for her racial passives, they are all useful to me :) Food duration alone is insanely helpful on some expensive dishes. Stamina increase and other bonuses are also decent for me.

Redguards are objectively the worst race. Just because some of you are happy with them doesn't change the fact that they have the worst passives and have to work harder for sustain while other races are far less restricted. I have four Redguards, by the way.

I've always played Redguard in the solo games. I love their lore and their passives they've received in previous TES entries, and it has always bothered me to see them done so dirty in ESO. The Alik'r Desert story is atrocious, too. So yeah, I'd like to see Redguard get some love.

Maybe it'll happen closer to TES VI, given the apparent location of that game.

I do not have any issues with my redguards' sustain. What content are you playing that it's so hard for you?

Agreed about the Alik'r story line though.... I couldn't deal with it, so have never finished it on anyone.

For my solo stam nb build redguard is the best race with its passives, I certainly don't want it to become damage oriented or something

Redguard doesn't need any changes. DO NOT MAKE ALL RACES THE SAME THING! All races weapon/spell damage, all races ofensive stats... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Leave Redguard as it is with great pasives for survivability and resources management, same as Wood Elf.

If you don't want to use Redguard, fine. Use Orc, Khajiit, Dark Elf, whatever, but don't come asking to make all races with the same stats.

Crazy because I haven't seen anything like that posted in this thread. You're slaying an imaginary dragon.

Edit: suddenly there are so many people who like Redguards the way they are but you could never tell by looking at the population in game.

You won't ever see mine unless you spend all your time in overland on PC NA and EU. BTW, my mains are not the only Redguards I have, there's LOTS more of them.... Redguard is my favorite race, and always has been ever since the early single player titles.

And I still don't need different passives, thank you.

It doesn't have to be damage, it could be buff damage mitigation or increase status effects or anything else but sustain. Once upon a time, sustain was an issue in this game, which made Redguard a top tier race for stamina builds. But not so much anymore. Even Breton has better passives

Sustain is still an issue in PvP and Solo content when almost everyone in PvP uses oragas smoked bearhaunch or juwels of misrule as buffood and/or wretchet vitality, a race giving 2-3 set boni(258-387) recovery, ideally mag and stam, would allow players to replace one of them, so they can wear a dmg set or use sugar skulls or other stat food also increasing dmg.
But the sustain passives redguard has are not even good, seems like the race offers not only the wrong stats, but also less stats overall.

I voted no simply because I have no need for that. I could say I don't care, but it's not true. Because for every things done that I don't need, I lose a chance to see something I care about being done. That's very egoistic though, I agree... o:)

Streamers only care about a specific set of niches. World PVP and Battlegrounds.

As a result, they only use a few specific builds that require specific passives. Which is why they're all the same few races. Not a single one of them strays outside of the meta. This is also why they're always the same 2 classes. Whichever class is currently OP, that's the class every single streamer is playing.

Redguard's racials are fine for Stamina builds. If you want to build something else, pick a different race. The various races are there for a reason.
  • Hasenpfote

Only you dont see many redguards doesn't mean they are bad.

If there is a class ranking, then redguard would be lower place, but as said, that does not mean the race is bad. If you go for minmaxing, you will take mostly breton or argonian as healer, the cat as crit DD and Nord or Imperial or even Redguard for tanking.

Adrenaline can sustain up to 200 Stamina/second. The core issue with Adrenaline, you can not buff this by resource regeneration buffs, meaning Adrenaline i would change into a static Stamina Reg instead of 1000 Stamina per 5 seconds after doing damage.

If you compare readguard vs woodelf:
    Stamina: 2775 (R) vs 2775 (W)
    Stamina Reg: 1000 every 5 seconds (R) vs 258 (+45% = 374) = 187 Stamina every second everytime
Third: 8% weapon ability discount (Stamina and Magicka) 15% less scnare efficency (R) vs 5% Movement Speed, 950 Penetration (W)

I think it would be nice if all the passives of all the races were reviewed after every chapter as sometimes changes to the game meta will increase or decrease the importance of certain stats.

That would drive me absolutely mad. I don't want to have balanced builds invalidated on a regular basis. Every time they try to adjust something there is a considerable chance that it gets worse....

If something is really amiss and not just a preference issue it can certainly be fixed, I don't mind that.
The Redguard passives are so crappy that no one ever uses the race for builds. Not 1 Streamer ever recommends Redguard for anything. I think the passives for this race need to be made more competitive with the other races.

Mathematically redguard is ok. It just excels at a lot of things that are not synergizing with most mainstream builds.

The snare resist + light armour can be absolutely massive, to the point where you do not need to run snare removal (3 light + redguard almost negates DK warmth). Of course this doesn't help you while parsing, but it can make a night and day difference kiting mobs/players around without maintaining snare immunity. It is not worse than +movement speed, it is very efficiently complementing it.

Adrenaline rush works while blocking/sprinting and can be supplemented well with heavy armour passives, glyphs and some sets. With cost reduction you can reach really high block sustain from non-regen sources.

The flat stam is also useful, as every non-stormweaver build relies on on stam for combat abilities, so it can never be a wasted stat to the same extent excess magicka could be.

Weapon skills can grant you resource independent heal, damage and defense. You may not get the same mileage from that cost reduction as you might on imperial overall, but this also occupies a smaller part of the power budget. Notably, weapon skills have some excellent spammables, where cost reduction has disproportionate returns.

Its not the parsing race, yes. It isn't the ganker race either. But apart from those it can do cool things.

Most streamers show gank, bomb and parse builds. Of course there is no reason to recommend redguards.
