This is a bad patch

Just to give a heads-up for the combat team who provided us with a 'fix' to mollify players and stem the exodus of upper end players, it didn't work.

Week 1 was bad
Week 3 made it worse
Week 4 actually made things worse again, amazingly, by forcing a new, highly annoying meta.

Can you please tell us what you are doing? Did you mean to implement a MA meta this patch, y'know, just to cap off all the previous nerfs?

MA weaving is not fun. HA weaving is just silly now. Remember the part where games are supposed to be fun. Tell me the 'fun part of any of this. Removing content from players. MASSIVELY changing combat after we were promised minimal changes.

People that have left are not coming back, there is zero incentive. More people are now leaving after the week 4 change of meta. We have, what, one week left?

Hopefully, this is some off-colour April Fool's Joke and none of this goes live. Right now, you are losing people that are aware of the PTS cycle and are testing it. When it goes live and the rest of the players understand what has happened, I don't think it will go great for the game.

I mean, you will keep some that just don't care about DPS and do casual content, but those that do vet content, and vet trials... I am not changing to conform to this meta, not when there are so many other games that don't do this.

I have tried saying this before. Lots of others have tried saying this before. This is an extremely bad patch for the players and the game. If you are looking at moving to a casual-only subscriber base, this is exactly the way to do it.

Just the fact that they are swerving so drastically from week to week shows that this patch is not thought out and needs to be shelved. But either way, you are right, many people have already left and are not coming back. That’s where I am now. I’m still interested in what happens, but it’s more like watching a train wreck. You can't look away. The game is already uninstalled, and I’m on to other things during the time I used to sink into eso. Games spend so much time and effort trying to get players hooked and playing the game as a daily habit. The combat team has undone those efforts. And once people stop playing for a few days…it’s pretty easy just to never come back at all. Even if they completely reverted the patch at this point, I have every confidence this stubborn combat team would do something equally puzzling next patch. So there is no point. Time to move one. Trust is lost.

at this point i just have no hopes for the patch. this patch's pts is my final hurrah before i take a break from the game, probably for a sizable amount of time. all they've done is make this patch 1 massive blunder and it just keeps getting worse.

I keep hoping. I feel like posting in here is pointless. It has not helped over multiple weeks, and at this point, the stupidity of the patches is annoying me. I am getting annoyed over a game and it is just not worth it. So no more posts from me, and I will see what they manage to mess up in week 5.

Has anyone actually tested that medium attacks are meta now? Do they work with Empower?

So yeah, I agree, that would be terrible. The other thing that came to mind is that heavy attacks may become meta for sustain, but I suppose trial players mostly sustain only from synergies already, or do they?

Yes, skinny has been testing them on pts. It nets 8-10k extra with a sloppy rotation. So get ready for MA meta.

    It's a horrible patch.

But then again, look at the game the last couple years. We get mini-games now instead of new skills or classes. They short things without anyone noticing like not having a home to purchase in this chapter (which has been part of every chapter release). Can't say I'm shocked at the state of the game development. This LA/HA meta shakeup has been some devs baby idea for years now and they are gonna shove it through, even if they gave up this patch, we'd probably see it again in an upcoming patch with a new twist.

Pff MA meta is such suck. This patch is just one big fat questionmark....???????? Like Empower makes no sense right now. All the sets , abilities that provide Empower make no sense now. Like ugh. Somehow they made a bad week 1,2,3 even worse with week 4. Let's all embrace ourselves for week 5. The grand finale. What's next, I truly wonder. Probably will push this stuff through and leave it hanging forever, all the sets and abilities. Because well ZoS doesn't finish stuff, hybridization anyone? Even stupid stuff like Lava Soup vs it's counterparts is funny.... Only Lava Soup gives that higher resource + regen.. rest is all same but somehow not on par with Lava Soup? Some said it was because it's a Drink dish but that's not right because you got Candied Jester's Cookies or w/e and they are not a drink dish and lower stats. Like this is old stuff.. More recent stuff like the potions and all those things, still big mess. The buffs, a big mess. ZoS seems to have lost track of what they wanna do. Just rolling the dice and hoping something will stick and yey we have a patch. On to the next roll.

I think what boggles my mind so much is that they are nerfing DPS AND they say they will be lowering bosses health to compensate. WHY? This whole exercise seems pointless. Why are they dropping everything?

Listen, no one wants out of control DPS increases. It would be bad for the game for numbers to continuously keep rising and damage inflation to take over the game. But this seems like almost the opposite. Decreasing everyones DPS and lowering mob health serves what purpose?

The thing that makes me the most upset about these changes is that they seem to be focusing on the top 0.5% of players. Trials/dungeons are getting tougher and tougher each release because they are focusing on that top 0.5% of players. Now they are reigning everything back "cater to new players" when their whole design teams have been pushing the envelope.

We've been having fun wrong and they're going to keep trying to fix it until we're having fun according to their spreadsheets. That's it. That's their plan.

So many changes for last 3 years - they just do not stop )))

Is it limitless ? )) Or now we will get it each update ? How much more CP rebalancing / class rebelancing and etc and nerfs waits us ? )))

Do not you already interested what will be next ? )))

During week one of the PTS the concerns of the community was arrogantly dismissed as a knee-jerk reaction and we were told to have faith. Now the PTS is worse and they are all over the place like a dog chasing its tail with what seems to be no actual plan. This entire update should be shelved for proper planning and testing.

Seems pretty clear that MA spike is unintentional. I mean it is a comedy of errors, because MA weaving is far more tricky than LA. The very same obstinate proponents of the idea of all this mess, to raise the floor/lower the ceiling would ultimately be the most galled. Even if they can hold down heavy attack resto and get 75k, won’t matter if top end can MA for top numbers and they can’t. If that dynamic settled in they’ll be angry, and theres lots of em.

Add in that MA meta isn’t a fun flow for anyone and it will be universal displeasure. So either week 5 or an incremental will address it unless they are just so stubborn they can’t be saved.

And so best case scenario yet another week of potential real testing is gone and now down to one more hail mary before solutions have to be done in real time via incremental, when it won’t just be niche pts volunteers but the wider playerbase, most of whom have not fully understood what is going on if they are even aware yet.

They are out of time and painted into a corner for well and true. If there is anyone left internally besides the principle actors in this that doesn’t know, in their bones, that a reorg is needed then I’ll have what they’re having.

[snip] that was hilarious and sadly accurate xD This needs to be spread across all of the ESO community, 10k views is not enough.
