How many are at the point of asking for a refund?

  • glasswalkers_04_ESO
I did most of the Beta and some these bugs are ancient. My hope had been that it was because we weren't testing the Alpha/live build.

And its interesting that the game ran completely smoothly for me all through early access but the second it went free for all the servers couldn't handle the load. Again isn't this what all of those beta tests were supposed to prepare for? And the so called overflow servers?

I wouldn't ask for a refund, but I also will not sub at this point either. Maybe I'll try again in 3 months.

Take it that this is the OP's first MMO?

    Not my first.

    POSTED ELSE WHERE

    I have played:
    WoW for eight years
    Everquest for three years
    PSO for three years
GW2 for *almost* two years (in august)
AoC for two months cause bad game was bad
TOR for zero because....well look at TOR
    LotR Online...for a year
PSU for the entire time the server were up on XBL...I think five years give or take
EVE Online not sure how many years but many
Star Wars Galaxies for three years I think...don't remember
Runescape for four years or so
Warhammer for....idk maybe about 7 months or so
    Lineage II...for four months

Probably forgot a bunch...but there ya go.

Also have been playing TES since Morrowind and have played daggerfall. I beat all TES games so far, and this game is really great. The bugs are fine, a quest bug or guild bug here or there is okay with me and very normal at release for an MMO.

BUT a bug that wipes all your progress? No server shutdown and hot fix?
    lulwut?

Of course they're going to help the players who lost things. Companies don't just shoot themselves in the foot, especially not huge ones that know how to keep their consumers happy. Just relax, they're working on it.

I will not be asking for a refund.

I also will not be subscribing after the 30day trial. I pretty much enjoy playing ESO but I feel that they are in over their heads, at the moment. I will probably check it out again in a few months.

Not at all. I'm a professional adult who has been gaming for quite some time. I have a lot of experience in MMOs. I don't recall any MMO ever having this type of response to gamebreaking errors, lag, and other disfunctionality that is having a major impact on the playability of the game for many players.

Also, I do not subscribe to the idea that just because, historically, MMOs have had many issues at launch, we, as consumers and gamers, should tolerate an inability to rely upon the progress and items we have made in ESO. Many players can't log in, or spend hours waiting for log in queues. Some players have had their characters deleted. Others are experiencing rollbacks, essentially having to redo quests and progress made, repeatedly. And yet others are experiencing massive deletions of bank inventories and space, which is quite expensive. Zeni has a situation where a major portion of their subscriber base is experiencing not just problems with the game, but a waste of their time. It's significant.

I think if you would have read through the thread, this would have been evident. I didn't come here to complain about broken quests or minor issues that plague a new MMO. I came here to wonder at the lack of response, the slipshod implementation of a much desired game with multiple betas, and to get a sense of current players' trust that Zeni will be able to provide a stable and fun game in the near future.

over-reacting or have not played mmos before

I have been playing MMOs for fourteen years now and this is one of the worst launches yet...next to TOR and AoC.

Even Warhammer Online had less bugs and problems then ESO, so dont give us that crap about overreacting.

    This.

You're so full of crap it's not even funny.

Ever hear of Diablo 3, eve online? WOW? Those were some of the worst day 1 launches in mmo history.

This launch was smooth. I've yet to have an issue other then minor log on issues at peak hours.

HEY I played all of those games at launch and guess what...NONE of them had character wipe bugs and the bugs that were there were fixed quickly and the support team seemed like they cared...unlike this one.

This is the worst launch since TOR.

Actually, this is worse than TOR at least TOR had and has a decent Customer Support department where you can talk to someone that is actually knowledgeable and able to fix problems. Also I don't remember any character wipe bugs, bugs that completely stopped your character progression, nor bugs that deleted all of someone's items. Now Vanguard that was worse than this, but so far Zeni has shown the potential to surpass even that.

If this is true, it indicates a more serious problem. Zeni hasn't taken the steps to hire customer service professionals, or a manager of customer service that knows how to train their employees to listen and work with customers instead of offering lame excuses and workarounds. If this is the level of support we can expect, then I do suspect the game will be F2P within months (something I honestly fear; F2P MMO games are by are large, garbage), and many subscribers will go elsewhere to a company that cares enough to care about their customer base.

I feel like most people who are complaining about bugs and issues have never before been in another launch for an MMO, much less be in one of this scale.

With many of the issues you are probably right, however there are issues here that goes beyond what we have seen in other MMO releases. We have to put ourselves in their shoes. What if you were to login tomorrow and find your main character gone? Or to come to terms with the loss of all your purchased bank slots along with all items in them - and even after several days you hear nothing back from support? That is not normal for any MMO release and it is not an isolated issue only happening for a few. I can live with most other issues during a period of time personally but not the loss of significant time and effort spent in the game.

We might both be fortunate that it has not happened to us yet but we have to be honest with ourselves on how we would react if it were to happen.

They have until the regular maintenance window to have a solution for the bank issue, character resets and a good portion of the quest bugs available. If there's not one, i'll play until the free time is up. I'm in the minority i'm sure, as a lot have already cancelled.

This game has incredible underpinnings but the support staff is going to be the death toll.

Not to post immediately after my last, but you expressed it exactly in the way Zenimax doesn't seem to understand. They can't even be bothered to come out with a public statement regarding the issue. I guess they haven't paid much attention to other MMOs' massive failures due to lack of communication and providing solutions in a reasonable timeframe. We are done accepting platitudes and placations, we demand results.

Apparently the only way they're going to comprehend is when 50-75% of the playerbase is gone within three months.

You're overreacting. No, they will not refund you for what you say is "broken and should not have been launched." (Have you even heard of the game Battlefield 4?)

What you are dealing with now is a product of playing/using a product at first launch (version 1.XX). It hapens; and furthermore, it needs to happen. The hardships now help to make the game better in the long run.

I'm not quite sure what people don't understand about this concept...

Totally agree. This is part of being at the start of a new game.
