Are you sure about that? The video I saw looked like it was at least partly from the attacker's view, and the way it consisted of several short scenes cut together made it look like a product advertisement, not to mention that the UI that I was referring to appeared to have a name that was unflattering of ZOS, and the option fields looked like they might be referring to hacks.

Sounds like we saw different videos.

I have not seen that one. The one I saw at the top of this thread and was from a player/observer perspective.

That could be. I wouldn't know, because I didn't see the posted link before it got removed. The one I saw was 54 seconds long, and was made up of a bunch of short cuts from different videos, with at least one scene from Elden Root. I don't remember any scenes being recognizable as Vulkhel Guard, and it's pretty hard to mistake Elden Root as anything but Elden Root.

There were 2 videos in total. One in eldenroot and one in vulkhel guard. The player trolled several other towns throughout the day too. I'm not sure if other videos exist of those additional occurrences.

Neither of the two videos you PMed me are the one I saw. As I said, it was short-- 0:54-- and was a bunch of short scenes that had been cut together in what almost looked (IMO) like a commercial for a cheat program. So I guess what I saw wasn't from the incident this morning, although I suppose the implication was that the guy this morning was using that cheat program.

Certainly looks that way. It's been mentioned in this thread and many others for years that such programmes exist, and links to download/purchase pages are always provided to ZOS. I've seen lots of 'spliced' videos used to promote these things over the years and a good many have been shared in forum threads too. The biggest shame is not that they exist, but that there appears to be no accountability for it or effort to combat it. As I mentioned earlier, these videos can't just be deleted and ignored, and a modicum of transparency on ZOS part would go a huge way towards letting the playerbase know this isn't tolerated, and our reports are taken seriously. The guy in the video even calls them out on this...

This isn't a simple cheat, script or bot, this "hacker" circumvented ZoS code which is crap in the first place.
In order for the game not to be hacked again ZoS would have to reencode the whole game code. Am I the only one that sees this?

I'm not sure, it could be something as simple as a missing flag and the relative check in that missile barrage skill (and presumably all the enemies exclusive skills).
I'd say that players accessible skills and mobs exclusive skills aren't treated as different objects so it's possible that with some tool the guy got access to the skills table and simply enabled it for himself; I guess that right now the check to see if you may use a skill is client side only, in that case the solution could be as simple as adding a check server side (in the same phase that checks if the target is in range) that prevents skills flagged as npc's only to actually fire.

He should be sentenced to the stocks in Rwalkia imo but then again that's just harsh.

    That's kind of funny, actually.
Cheater accounts get put into stocks in the public square for XX amount of time.
The timer only runs when they're actually logged into game.

I'm thinking 2 weeks logged in time sounds about right to start.

Instead of banning a toon/account, have the toon be forced to be in a public stockade, naked, where we all can toss mud pies at him for an entire month. Have a sign above him which explains what he did, such as exploit, cheat, etc.

Not to mention, that would qualify as "naming and shaming," which would mean that ZOS would be breaking their own rules, which would not go over well at all whenever someone got their post edited or deleted-- with or without any disciplinary action on their account-- for "naming and shaming."

Can't have blatant cheaters feelings get hurt.

Naming and shaming is the only way that cheaters are taken seriously in this game. In EVE online, they make it a community event to destroy ships from cheaters. Imagine a world where the nightly news is, "Someone in your neighborhood is breaking into houses. We know who it is, but we cannot tell you." If a cheater violates the terms of service, they give up their right to anonymity. When you commit a crime, you get called out by the media. Sure they may protect some high profile people until the trial, but at the end of that, the names are revealed. Even call of duty will give you a notification that the report you filed resulted in a ban (they don't name people, but there is confirmation towards your actions in helping the community). In fact eso is one of the few games where not only does your report go unacknowledged, it also is completely useless since no action is taken, and even if action is taken, the problem is not addressed at a core level. Bots get reported, and they are still there the next day. Scammers and cheaters get reported, they make a video about how they are still playing the game. Gold sellers and buyers are reported, they are there the next day. It is a shame that this company values the privacy of those that are willing to violate the TOS, over those paying members of the community that want to play the game as it was intended.

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

    Greetings all,

After review we have removed the videos from the first post for Naming and Shaming. That being said we wanted to confirm that we are aware of the situation. Thank you for your understanding.

So ZoS supports cheaters and prevents their name going out. Seems ZoS supports cheating software and users. I guess whatever pays you money huh? :disappointed:

Side note probably do not want name out because ToS. But then again they're on video clear as day cheating. But ZoS shields them. :/

It's a very different thing for players to accuse others publicly, and for ZOS to identify a cheater after actually confirming the cheating and giving the cheater the chance to defend themselves.

Not only that, but ZOS don't even acknowledge actions taken pursuant to player reports, not even as aggregate data (e.g. X players were disciplined this month), adding to the perception that they largely tolerate cheating and exploiting.

After review we have removed the videos from the first post for Naming and Shaming. That being said we wanted to confirm that we are aware of the situation. Thank you for your understanding.

    Hello there,

Are you also aware of the other situation related to unjust ban of a fellow player? Anyone investigating that too? A lot of players are upset about that guy getting banned because of Zenimax's autoreply community care system.

    Thank you for your time.

Oh no, was that the poster who's Dad had the chargeback issue? :/

Yeah, but do not discuss a closed thread in here or this one will be locked too. And this cheating thing needs to be seen.
I just ask for info about that because the cheater guy was aggravated by that thread.

The cheater just deleted his own video or he made it private, so there is no way to see the video again. You can only see him cheating in the videos of other players.

Just watched the video on Youtube. I must admit, it was hilarious. Zone chat was also funny.

Players are not allowed to name and shame the cheater ? Why ?

Because cheaters pay subs as well.

The $ is more important than product integrity.

    Greetings all,

that is interesting. this videos are actually reviewed. so we can see, there is money and manpower invested to prevent naming and shaming. Not long ago, a few days ago to be specific, i posted a thread where i say i have video recording that clearly shows cheating. I wrote that i will not upload the video in the thread to prevent naming and shaming and im willing to show this video to zos.

-> Do you think anybody contacted me to say pls show us the video, we want to see for ourselfes and investigate? NO!

So first of all i have to say WOW! Second this shows me, that there is effort and like i said money and manpower to prevent naming but OBVIOUSLY not to prevent cheating.

I want to say that im happy to see the reactions in this thread here. I opened similar threads 1 or 2 years ago and (almost) all i got was hate and flame and stuff with the sense of "there is no cheat in this game, it cant be, my preciuos eso cant be corrupted, because that shakes my perfect eso world, and i cant have that..."

So im happy to see that the awareness is actually growing bit by bit (sadly the cheating is growing and growing too). On the same hand, i think the attitude "ZOS WILL TAKE CARE OF IT" is inapropriate concerning this topic nowadays. So please voice stuff like this everywhere and as loud as you can. It will only change if it becomes a community issue and the player numbers will go down because of it, because that means $ will go down and then, maybe then we will see some actions to be taken...

Another addition: if you see that such blatant cheating is easily possible you can imagine how easy it is to change your stats slightly or hugely in the game and im not the first 1 to say that, that have persons like Fengrush already said in 2016!

Another thought...wouldn’t random events like this that could happen almost anywhere be wonderful? In other Games That Shall Not Be Named, I remember zombie attacks, alien invasions, demon invasions, etc, where the skies would change color and the large scale events would happen for a short time. You could either participate or hide indoors until they passed. They felt so dynamic and fun 🙂

In Everquest, GMs would occasionally interact with players in spontaneous large scale events like that. It was some of the most memorable times in the game!

I've been playing since console launch and moved to PC a few years ago. Never seen a GM in all my time playing.

Same. In all my thousands of hours playing, I've never seen a GM in ESO. Makes me wonder why they even have that loading screen about real GMs having a [Z] next to their name.
