I've had to report no fewer than 4 people for hardcore levels of harrassment in a single week. I thought people once considered the community to be good?
I'm amused at the people who seem to be obsessed with the idea that I did something wrong to deserve it, and am not telling them.
No folks, people really do quite often suck, and if you can't see it, then you're likely part of the problem.
This. I suggest there is more to the story. Especially since we are up to 4 in one week. After 6 years my ignore list is empty and I have gotten my share of hate whispers in PvP. All of which I passively ignored and they quickly move on after seeing I do not have a hot head.
I enjoy getting hate whispers in PvP, I mail them a potato.

I mean giving someone polite and friendly advice in a nice way should not be something one has to avoid ever.
People should have the basic decency to, if they dont want it, at least not react like a moron.
Most players who get into in-game heated conversations that get out of control contributed to it.
I mean I make "racist" jokes about in game races, like making Argonian skin boots when I get the kill achievement in PvP and stuff like that
Don't throw around that buzzword ffs. People are taking a fairly reasonable guess that there is more to the story -- as stated in the post you quoted, that is very often the case with these kind of situations. And that's ignoring the fact that OPs behavior on the forums makes it difficult for people to believe their innocence.

Victim blaming? Seriously?
You assume that the OP was in any kind of argument at all. And even if they were, that certainly wouldn't excuse racism.I mean I make "racist" jokes about in game races, like making Argonian skin boots when I get the kill achievement in PvP and stuff like that
This was the determining factor in me deciding to not pvp.
I don't want those racist achievements. We live on a planet where racially motivated killings are a thing. These achievements are just awful.
So are racist passives.
Seriously. Story-wise the Elder Scrolls IP has never been racist. Certainly there have been storylines which touch on or even revolve around racism. But they don't promote it. It's shown as the evil it is.
But ESO's game design is very racist and those "in-game racist" remarks are a problem. Legally I don't think they are. Fictional races aren't owed any legal protection to the best of my knowledge. But their expression and acceptance might shift some people's minds a bit towards being more accepting of real world racism.
