[Feedback] End Rewards Of The Worthy Mailbox Spam

I've given feedback similar to this before, but I'm going to say it again. With a new chapter coming up, that's the perfect time to implement the change.

The current Rewards Of The Worthy (ROTW) need to be disposed of.

It should not be tedious to deal with what is supposed to be a reward, but tedious it is.

I just returned to the game from a 10 month hiatus and one of the things I had to do the first day back was spend 30 minutes clearing my mailbox of ROTW mails that had accumulated months ago. 10 months of hundreds of mails sitting in the database, eating your storage space, ZOS.

It clogs our mail boxes, it creates additional database bloat that can't be good for the server, and it gives us rewards we essentially can't use or don't want. They have almost no intrinsic value at this point due to the market being completely saturated in these sets. It is especially exacerbated by anyone who PVPs heavily and can get a couple dozen of these mails a day for months on end.

If you must send us sacks of goodies, make it consumables and crafting materials and motifs and soul gems and siege weapons. Akin to the Pelinal boxes, but not as valuable (obviously). These can be opened immediately and drop their contents into crafting bags or crafting mules.

Give us an object that lets us buy crafting stations for the PVP sets for our homes that we can burn AP on to get. Give us new motifs that we can buy with AP, and you can even cycle old motifs through whatever vendor sells this. Make the Golden more interesting with a wider variety of sets, and more than just jewelry and monster set pieces and maybe even some furniture.

For end of campaign rewards, please add the master weapons back in. That was essential to feeling like we'd been rewarded, and made people fight harder for the campaign to try to win it, instead of not caring about who wins the campaign. Add monster sets instead of just jewelry to the end of campaign reward rotation, such as what is normally on the Golden. You could even create a monster set only available through PVP, purchasable through AP or a currency that comes only with the ROTW boxes in place of the current sets.

Also make sure you keep the current sets coming in ROTW on the vendors at the gates. It's always better to be able to choose your rewards through purchasing instead of this quasi-lootbox mechanic.

Whatever it is you do, though, please get rid of the current ROTW system. It's not helpful and we feel unrewarded. It's tedious, and there are numerous better ways of handling it that are kinder to both the servers and the people on the receiving end of these emails.

    I'd continue to prioritize intelligent changes like the implementation of faction lock. "Rewards for the Worthy" emails are a minor nuisance issue at most.

    The faction lock is already in the patch notes. This is not going to be some major utilization of their bandwidth that would prevent it from happening.

    Don't be petty in feedback threads. Make a proper argument for why the status quo is good, why it should be changed, or move along.

    I never said the status quo is good. I said it is a minor nuisance at most, and that development resources could be better allocated elsewhere.

    There is no "think" about it - you called me "petty" in post #4 above. I'd have to be pretty thin-skinned to report such a comment to the moderators, or to send someone to the ignore list for that. In reality, the only thing petty here is complaints about rewards in the email.

    There are times I don't play because of this. It's a huge hassle. The majority of the items have no value because they are so common.

    A common question asked lately, though usually rhetorically, is what is a PVP player? To me, a PVP player is someone who enjoys spending free time fighting other players. They would play ESO if it were a PVP only game.

    Outside of the obvious performance issues, a reason ESO has trouble retaining PVP players is because there is FAR too much overhead. Too much inventory management, too much PVE, etc... The ratio of busywork to actual pvp is gross. The ridiculous PVP reward system is part of that.

    Can we please get a nice, clean token system for PVP rewards? Stop punishing us for playing with oodles of worthless rng loot.

    It would be better if ROTWs were delivered in a different format for sure. Not only are there an annoying amount of them, the sets they deliver are all junk, even the ones like spell strat that start out worth something eventually end up barely selling. ROTWs should be modified to include more useful items like various mats for crafting, enchanting and alchemy. And then include sets sometimes. What id like to see is a ticket system you are awarded tickets instead of ROTW boxes as a form of currency and you can then use these tickets to buy armor boxes, material boxes etc. The tickets are simply awarded like AP is earned after a certain amount of AP is accumulated. That is to say they just go directly to your currency page instead of into the mail.

    Lol this is one of the worst things about pushing for emp, you can't use your mailbox for 30 days coz there are like 300 mails waiting to be opened.

    I have a separate dedicated toon for opening mail lol.

    The past 2 Mayhem events, I finished first on the leaderboard overall with over 25m AP and let me tell you that I spent several sessions of 4 to 5 hours just doing inventory management. This has to end. Even thought I made over 5 millions in gold every event out of that and I am very happy about it, the mailing system is very flawed and there are plenty of different ways to deal with this without spending too much resources.

    The first and easiest thing that comes into mind is to have the rewards of the worthy on a different section of the mailbox or to have those rewards in their own entire UI (maybe part of the Alliance War UI when you press L). The main goal is here is to make sure that if you need to read an ingame mail from a friend or if you need to loot items that you bought from the guild stores, you don't have to necessary spend hours looting pvp rewards.

    Another idea on top of the last one would be to receive tokens or any system of points distribution that allows us to purchases things from quartermasters. Something similar to IC and telvar stones. Those points could accumulate as a currency and we would not have to loot anything other than end of campaign rewards.

    • Fix Volendrung (spawn location - weapon white on the map causing the wielder to keep it forever - usable with emperorship)
