Once again: Details will be published when we have them.
Everyone here is aware of how hard it is to get those weapons in the perfect trait and how many golden tempers have to be used.
In case we were to increase the gearcap, it would not happen thoughtless, to make all your efforts meaningless.
One Tamriel applies to whole Tamriel, including Vvardenfell. Monsters have the same level everywhere, players are being adjustet accordingly.
Wasn't this already so back with VR levels? VR6, VR12, etc?

Everyone here is aware of the amount of work put into the hunt for the right weapon with the right trait, as well as the amount of golden tempers consumed. If we raise the gear cap, this won't happen thoughtlessly to devalue your efforts.

One Tamriel is for the whole of Tamriel including Vvardenfell. Mobs are on the same level everywhere, players are raised everywhere accordingly.
Maybe they'll offer a way to upgrade your current gear to the new cap? Like some kind of token or something for doing dungeons, pvp whatever? Just a thought.
Other MMOs have gear resets every year or so, and while ESO has a different system I don't see a problem with a soft reset.
For example, once the gear cap is increased they could also make an item that increases the level of gear through crafting, similar to how tempers increase quality.
@ZOS_GinaBruno , can we get some insight as to what "not happen thoughtless, to make all your efforts meaningless" exactly means?

People need to keep in mind that CP 160 gear will not be significantly worse than CP 180 gear, for example. Think of it as a possibility to improve, though not necessary. Small stat differences will not make you lose a duel.
Don't stress about aquiring new gear – take your time.

The problem with vet ranks was that every few months we kept getting level and gear level increases. The first year we went from vet 10 to vet 12 to Vet 14. So gear have been reset 3 times in the first year. That was the problem. Several months later we get increase to vet 16. We have literally been wearing CP 160 gear for a year and six months and by the time Morowind comes out it would a year 10 months. Gear had been stagnant for a long time.

Gear cap rises come to any MMO, it's the way of things but for those of us who have just sorted out our gear and builds, only to have to go through the whole process again, it can very disheartening. Not to mention expensive.

If they were smart, they would give us a way to upgrade our current gear, either via crown store to generate revenue or through more traditional in game methods like crafting upgrades.
