His review at the time of release was very fair and mostly correct. In the present however there have been improvements, fixes and changes etc, as you would expect, if someone cannot tell this from seeing when the release of the game and review video was, then that's their blunder.
And I always take reviews with a pinch of salt, after all they are just another persons opinion, YouTuber or not.

I thought Joe re-reviewed ESO a few months after release and gave it a more positive review? Regardless his review were accurate at the time he did them.

i think a review of the current state of the game would be worse....
just look at something as primal as server preformance. any reviewer would downrate any game if it can't handle the server preformance.

I like AngryJoe, I played the beta and agreed with his points

After buying the game months later out of boredom, I fell in love with it as ZOS had listened to the community to fix many of the issues

Likewise - but mine's 8. Loves PvP though - likes ESO PvP more than I do! We had a couple of chars we played together up to lvl 22 and got into playing BWB. Started again with new chars with my wife and at one point he just told us no - he was playing his "powerful" character and we could join him in Cyrodiil when we got to lvl 10 (though we waited until we were lvl 15)! I wish these toobers would update their stuff, and of course look at the dates also helps, never cared for angry joe, he is just to angry and I did agree with some things he said, I don't care for his delivery. None of these streamers or reviewers opinions are any more valid than mine or yours.

I was on when he was at launch, pvp'd with him as well. Some friends that were on the fence about buying the game at the time were watching his stream.

If he or one of his friends encountered a bug, they'd sit there and make a huge deal about it, rather than fixing it by simply reclogging. A lot of people were turned off by that kind of thing....sadly.

GW2? He quit after a little bit, was in one of his guilds there as well. In his review he talked about there being so much to do, but then once you actually played the game and leveled there was very little to do aside from PvP which had huge bugs being exploited.

Reviewers won't, but they should, take considerable time when reviewing an mmo as it is impossible to get a true sounding of their depth by just dipping your toe. But YouTube'ing means getting the most viewers for the littlest work required.

Shoudln't people be more pissed at the youtubers that leave OLD reviews up after a game has been patched to fix it, or totally change entire gameplay aspect?

There is a way to take down your own videos, right?
(I don't really post to youtube...I did one video once just to try it out...and show a friend how bad ESO Voicechat was as far as "idiots being idiots".)

Reviews and Let's Plays are an extension of the entertainment industry in all but name. Kinda like news stations. Objective and thoughtful commentary doesn't bring in ratings quite the same way drama and sensationalism does.

That being said, I am not inherently opposed to it so long as people understand that what is said in these reviews should always be taken with a grain of salt. Hell, I even donate to Smosh Games and openly dote on Markiplier. But Reviewers are a different kind of beast. One where bashing on a game is generally considered in style seeing as how they are supposed to be the eyes looking for "top quality".

That being said, it is important to understand Angry Joe's usual mode of addressing things. He has an obvious preference toward solo games and has exceptionally high standards when it comes RPGs, and seemingly has little experience with MMOs. Say what you like about Joe, but if even he likes a game it is usually bound to be exceptional. However, for games that simply don't pique his interest, or games that have the backing of a AAA company (Bethesda), Joe will be harsh as he expects ESO to at least try and live up to the standards of its other Elder Scrolls counterparts.

But it is important to note that that particular ESO review many people reference was made when the game was in still in beta and just about to be released. Many of his points in that review were actually quite on point (not being able to group wit friends, the broken quests, the server crashes, the lag, the minimal gold rewards.).

Well, I would as well not have given it a 2nd chance, if there would not have been the free trial weekend - ZOS should make a trial phase to actually test the game - just like EVE online does it, 30 days free trial - but because ZOS is too greedy to do that (even that weekend was far too short), they will not get these people back, because they have no way to try for free.

Edit: Well, ZOS ignored that there is this first impression thing - they made a very bad first impression and now they have to suffer for doing this - every adult should know about that the first impression is very important, but they released an unfinished game in a bad state and made an awful first impression - they should not wonder then, that people react like they do and first impressions are not easily forgotten.

I don't think a new review should come, because the game has not changed for the better. If people witness the lag and loading screens in cyro they will turn back quick from whence they came from. And most of his points of PvE and still there.

He was right at that time, The game did change, but one of the main core things..aka grouping with your girl or bro is still a pain and not fun.

Also, with the lag, and class balance. A new review would still rate low. GW2 WAS the better game during that time. GW2 has balance issues also.

I'll claim the exact opposite of your statement.
Some of what's wrong with todays gaming industry is people headlessly buying games without checking out reviews. The same people that pre-order digitally distributed games. People that buy early access games, which is basically paying for a game that has only reached alpha. This is one of the diseases that infest the gaming industry and creates lazy developers without ambition or vision.

Perhaps this situation with people believing old reviews will help developers and publishers to one day realize how bad an idea it is to release an unfinished product and have a terrible launch day.

Am I the only one who never got 1 gold from enemies? I got access to the beta but I only played with the character creator to really enjoy the game on release day (early access, actually).

Is he reviewing THE BETA OF THE GAME a full THREE WEEKS after it was released?

You just can't review a >1 month old pre-release build of a game that had four (1, 2, 3, 4) updates between the actual release and YOUR REVIEW.

Angry Joe is dishonest and an insult to gamers (but this is for other videos).

Bonus bull poop argument: I had the 3 original expensive horses on my main character before any of them were maxed. I must be a super hero.

The reviews by angryjoe are not that bad, many times I agree with him, he describes both qualities and problems of a game.

And please be honest the game at the release was a disaster, I played the entire first month no-life style and it was ridicolous, the bugs and the exploits were everywhere, the game was in a early beta stage.

Now the game is different for sure but that is a 2yo review and he was right, the game was a mess.

Yeah well because you want to give the right to the game industry to sell you pre alfa release at 60 € , and you believe that pre-ordering a game only because you have seen the E3 trailer is the right thing to do?

Youtubers are there to give you more information about the game, clearly they have personal (and business related) opinions,
for example Angry joe works for a company that is owned by the Disney so everything Disney related will have a couple of points more, you are not obligated to believe him but he tells you more that the companies nowadays.

Anyway the Angry joe review is not so bad i've seen more people towing Sxxth at this game, he at least have tried it for more than 1 hour.

It was not a lie. He showed it happen. I had it happen and ummmm he can do that because the beta was pointless. We warned about all the bugs and they did not get fixed. It was the same game.

Some people make their living from youtube though. Therefore asking then to take down "old videos" is like saying please reduce your wage

They will still be earning money from views and ad clicks when that video is watched. People should be able to see that the video is old. Perhaps the owner could put a disclaimer in the description saying that the game has moved on quite far since their review, but even so, people should use common sense when they see the upload date.
