There Really Should Be A Free Demo...

I seriously don't understand why ESO does not have a free demo to let people try out the game. I have got so many people that I want to get into this game but they don't want to spend £45 on something if they are not gonna like it.

I very much recommened having a free Demo where players are allowed the reach level 5 on 1 Alliance (Dunno Which One) That is all taht would be needed, nothing more. So many games have this type of thing yet ESO has nothing.

In addition not having a free demo suggests (In my opinion) that the Devs are not confident in their game and are worried that they won't get as much cash because people may find out that the game is bad. Just my point of view.

I desperately want to get more people into ESO but they simply just won't buy it because they don't know how good it is, despite my encouragement.

P.S: people who vote yes, wanna give me some agrees, working towards 5 stars ;)

Level 5 is nothing, you walk out of the prison at 3. They won't even see the first zone because they'll keep dying. 15 woule be better. But we don't need a level restriction, just make it timed access. A trial account expiring after a week or two, with limited access to chat, mail and guilds.

    @Rosveen

Timed access id a bit 'eh' in my view because people can get to max level within 60 hours I've heard, Took me like 100 hours :(

but I agree that level 5 might be a bit low, maybe level 10 or 15 would be good but I disagree with having timed access.

£45? Where do you and your friends shop? You can get it for under £20 on consoles and probably cheaper yet on PC.

It's the only reason i got the game. I bought the Imperial edition for £25 [xbox]. People really shouldn't be using the likes of GAME as any sort of bench mark when it comes to pricing games.

Give them unlimited Cyrodil too, Cyrodil needs fresh meat. Also for vet-campaigns too. Or I dont know maybe bot/grief/troll army comes.

    Console version for under £20

Not looked for the PC version, but it probably won't be too difficult to find something around the same price as the console version.

So what if they get to max level? MMOs aren't games you can finish in a week. People who choose to grind like mad won't experience most of the game's actual content.

Still, I'd okay with a level cap, I just don't want it so abysmally low as you first suggested. :)

Demos would always be nice... let people play until level 5, which means they can just walk out the wailing prison and do a quest or two or walk arond the starter zone for a bit, getting a mere taste of the game and just barely enough info to decide if they like the gamestyle... maaaybe level 10, that'd be finishing the starter island and then a bit... or perhaps a timed stretch of 24 hours...

...although a free demo kind might open the door for people will less noble intentions, who see the demo character as disposable chance to do mischief... but that could be averted by making the demo version not entirely free...

Ah, well. Not like its that big a deal to have a demo or not...

I completely agree (although the level 5 cap is pointless, 10 at least, let them try out a dungeon and the pvp so people can make up their mind).

I have the exact same reasons, I have friends I want to convince to try the game, and they would try it if it was free, ut they're not gonna risk all that money for something they might end up deleting after a week. And neither am I.

I'm really curious what's the justification behind the no-demo policy. You only have to benefit from it.
You're really losing a lot of potential clients by not having a demo. I really want to know why.

I don't believe a demo would work well

I do believe a free weekend would work as it was already done with success on PC.
Perhaps another weekend is in store soon

I don't believe it will work. The start is a bit overwhelming, you don't know what you have to do. The real fun starts when you overcome this threshold.

That's more like a free day if we don't get a pre-load option. I have decent internet, but reinstalling the client on another PC still took ages. Remember that it's now larger than a year ago.

My reason for believing a demo wouldn't be good is because this game is so complex, that you really don't get a handle on it until you've played 50+ hours or more, and no demo is going to give you that kind of opportunity to experience all the things in ESO over that length of time. Even playing to level 10 or 12 is nothing because you barely have any chance to get the really cool class/weapon abilities or craft, etc. If they want a DEMO, then they should watch a few YouTube videos to see if it's something they would be interested in- there is enough of them out there. Playing, however, and learning the game, takes hundreds of hours of investment.

Free demo on an MMORPG = constant whispers, mails and zone messages advertising websites to purchase gold.
