Why can't people just accept the fact that there are players who enjoy 1st person view? Why should it matter if you think it's an inferior way to play. Some people prefer it and it should be left at that.

I for one don't play in 1st person, but I love to look at the landscape in 1st person. There are reasons to have 1st view and I am glad it was included in the game.

Ya'll need to lighten up, it is Friday after all.

there is no "think" here, it IS an inferior way of playing. You cannot see as much, your veiw is only a VERY narrow line in front of you.

This is still an MMO, that means, in grouped content, like PVP and PVE, people are relying on you to help them, by you using an option that makes you completely worthless at spacial awareness, you are basically saying "I do not care about anyone but myself, and i do not care about the others in my group"

Well I attest that playing in 3rd person is taking the easy way out. You learn new tactics. You adapt to first person. First person gives players additional challenges and changes the game dramatically. A group of four that has completed a dungeon in first person accomplishes something different than those that complete it in third person.

Third person is a cop out.

Why? Because you do not like it? Your argument maked no sense.

The reason you say it's inferior is because it limits spacial awareness. That makes it more difficult to compete. That means first person is harder. That means third person is easy mode. What's not to understand?
Cause that is simply not how that works. Do you REALLY think anyone would use first person in Dark Souls? If you do, then you do not understand the community or even the point in that game.

Again, this isn't Dark Souls. Would DS be completely different if it were first person? Of course. But this is a whole other animal of games.

When you're talking about a PVP competitive aspect that was forced into a (previously) single-player, full PVE experience, you will see those mindsets clash. And why not? It only makes logical sense; if a person can use a third person camera angle to gain an upper hand where in previous installments of a game series this was not possible, it would seem overpowered/unfair/etc.

Um, they have has third person since morrowind, no one uses it because the controls were near unplayable

Thus by the logic being used in this rhread, using first person in tes is easy mode and only for people who do not want a challenge

1st person view is detrimental to your gameplay in EVERY way when there is a third person avaliable, and they explained this time and time again, with backup from the people who actually know how this kind of thing works, and STIL people complained. They finally gave in and added what we have no but with SERIOUS disagrements about it.

not only would this NOT be easy in the first place, but the simple fact that the company already was against having 1st person ANYWAY makes this a "never going to happen" kind of thing.

Says someone who likes 'easy' mode.

I, and many others, wouldn't have ever even tried ESO of it was only 3rd person. I LIKE that 1st person is confusing and more difficult. What you call 'detriments' I call benefits.

then you are now weaker and are going to to MUCH Worse in PVP and PVE cause of it.

Not easy mode, common sense. Would you rather mow the lawn with a pair of scissors when you have a lawnmower in the garage? no, no you would not.

I understand your point but 3rd person was available in Skyrim so it isn't that much of a change. But my main point is that I want to feel like my character and I are one and that this isn't just some game. It's realism that makes games fun unless they are blatantly designed otherwise.

I hate affect and effect.... I say we make a new word aeffect (Pronounced A-FEKT) that means to affect and to effect. We all know what we mean when we use one or the other.

But to the topic. I'd be fine if I could just see my shadow in first person. I miss my shadow.

Now see.....if the developers would have gone with cosmetic modding, this could already be in the game. Well, -your- game, if you wanted it.

But noooooooooo. UI modding only. Such carp.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

"First person isn't inferior to third-person it is different"... yea, and "Taking all the mirrors off my car and blacking out all windows but the windshield does not make it harder to drive!" I like playing in first person for fun (both on ESO and other TES games, but the simple fact is -you ARE- playing an inferior style. For group play, if you are using first person you are without a doubt doing worse than you should and other players have every right to call that inferior play. I mean, go into a trial and tell your group "I play in first-person" and see what happens. I'm sure they won't mind at all.

I....understand MMO's just fine. Also, other, older MMO's have cosmetic modding and they're doing peachy. Who cares as long as only the person with the cosmetic mod sees what it does to the game? I certainly don't.

Folks arguing against 1st person with all of the "you're not doing it right!" attitude sound to me like missionaries teaching the missionary position.
Games are supposed to be fun, and like a lot of things that are for fun, there are all kinds of ways to play and things people want to get out of it. The fact that someone is somewhere on the server doing solo PVE picking flowers in 1st person shouldn't detract from your or anyone else's enjoyment of the game.

What is your problem, @PKMN12? Is there a reason you must continuously insult players for preferring first person view? There's absolutely no reason for the way you're reacting to a simple poll.

Not only that, you're way off topic. This poll/thread was about a more realistic first person. You've pretty much turned it into a first person hate thread. Please do us all a favor and....

I love the FP option in the game. Could use more FoV tough.

For more realistic you can use this mod: Helmet FoV

For a cool balance between both worlds, when in combat 3rd person, when moving around out of combat 1rst person, this mod: iView.

Alternate world: Only can play in FP, then you don't have to worry about 3rd view advantages.

I'm okay with them making 1st person view "more immersive", on the condition that there is a way for your group to know if you are in first person. Lost count how many times I wonder how someone was even adept enough to play the game and spent so much time standing in the red......because first person :|

Otherwise for the single player, I don't care as I never use it.

It's not a problem for solo play. But in groups you simply can not see everything going on (I started ESO in 1st person myself until grouping more, lesson learned)....and usually in groups I'm healing, so pet peeve you might say if a player is taking more damage than they should reasonably be taking.

I play in third person view. . . I find it difficult to target AOE spells where I want them and to cast them at all while in first person view. . . I don't see how its even possible to heal in this game in first person view , you would have almost no battlefield awareness.

I always loved 1st person, I play mostly in 3rd but from time to time I like the immersion of going around in 1st person (RP or not). Already, most of the emotes don't even show up in 1st person and those that do are often off or wrong compared to 3rd person. There were mods for both Oblivion (simple) and Skyrim (more complex/full) that added that feature and it's something in ESO that I would really enjoy a lot.

    A word to you @Gidorick:

Some of us play in 3rd person NOT because we lack play skill but because we lack the stomach... as in, EVERY time I have tried to play in 1st person for even 15 minutes, I get nauseated and want to vomit. Has happened to me in every game I have played not just ESO. Even when playing in 3rd person I have to be careful for how long I do it or I end up geting the same nauseated feeling, like I am seasick. Heck even watching a YouTube of someone in 1st person (if I expand it to full screen) has the same effect. So please do not keep putting people down as inferior players, coping out, or whatever other insults you want to throw at people just because you think you are superior for playing the game in 1st person when others do not.

Likewise and conversely, the rest of you should stop antagonizing those that like 1st person more than 3rd. To each his own and may each enjoy.

    Outta here.

I had to look back at what you were talking about @Soulshine. That was three months ago!

I'll admit I was being a bit of a stain there. I was presenting my viewpoint from a position of defensiveness. I have no problem with people who play in 3rd vs 1st. I actually agree with what both sides of the argument were stating.

Playing in 1st person does reduce spatial awareness and a player who is playing in 1st person cannot react as quickly to the surrounding threats as a player who is playing in 3rd person. A 1st person player is limiting their ability and that does make it more difficult for a 1st person player to be as effective as a 3rd person player, especially in a group. 1st person DOES create a handicap.

So if you have two players and one is playing 1st person and one is playing 3rd person and they both perform equally well... the 1st person player performed a more difficult task. Now... will that EVER happen? maybe not

Honestly, I don't give a flying fox fanny what person plays in what perspective... I'm not a competitive player. I'm an immersion player. I do not, however, agree that one viewstyle is inferior to the other because both offer benefits to the player and, like many things in ESO, it really is a matter of taste and opinion.

Every time I have tried 3rd person, I feel like I am copping out. I do not care for 3rd person. I highly prefer 1st person, but that's me. I stand by the content of my statements, but they were delivered with an intentionally adversarial tone. I admit, I took offense to the statement that "1st person view is detrimental to your gameplay in EVERY way" because I feel 1st person enhances my experience in every way and my stance and perspective was defensive because of that.

    I agree:
