need tips on speeding up download or fixing it.

Im currently downloading the client on mac, but after over an hour i am still on 0%, and it says 100 kb/s. i know thats extremely slow, and I am on a poor college internet connection, but that is way too slow. My mac may be blocking the game from downloading, does anyone have tips on where i might turn off a setting to allow for a quicker download? i believe that my mac does not trust the game client and there is probably a security option i can take off.

Hi @Conquers,

if the OS X GateKeeper wouldn't trust the Launcher App because it comes from an unknown/untrusted source, OS X wouldn't run the Launcher at all and you'd see an error message to that effect.

First thing you should try is whether download speed increases if you turn off the OS X firewall for the duration of the download. Go to

Apple Menu > System Preferences... > Security & Privacy > Firewall Tab

Unlock the panel, then click on "Turn Off Firewall".

Second thing you could try is to prevent the App Nap feature for the Launcher App. The Launcher window likes to stay in focus, and download rates tend to go down when it isn't.

Chances are that your internet connection may be saturated, that there's a high packet drop rate, or that NAT is slow because the ports used for downloading are in high demand.
