Need to move the skills to their own achievement based skill tree, not related to emperor. This way everyone can get them in time, and it removes the carrot that rewards those currently abusing the Emp system.

well that might be an acceptable way for the ones who put a lot of effort in pvp.

Not really, it is achievement based which means you can put in a lot of effort over a short period of time or a little effort over a long period of time, accessible to all. The current system is really only accessible to those that want to farm AP, play a lot of hours, and/or do Emp trading.

When an emperor loses his throne the former emperor will have no passives?

Get rid of the Emperor Farming. It is taking away from the real fighting. Emperors should be the only ones who have any bonuses. The rest should just get the Costume and the Title.

The system wasn't designed with the intention that people would cooperate to swap like scrubs. Yet here we are.

For once, we agree on something.

In addition to the advertisements for collusion to swap emperor on other forums I have found the following....

Some players are now advertising their offer to pay AD and DC to come to Celarus and help them take keeps for the purpose of becoming emperor.

All former emperor buffs should be replaced with a title. If you grandfather them in you will only perpetuate the notion that an exploit should be used as much as possible while it is available rather than to hesitate due to repercussions.

Welcome to the forums and ESO Etharian.

Farming is really a multifaceted word. Here it means to achieve emperor in a systematic but effortless manner. The title of emperor and it's subsequent reward is suppose to be one of the biggest individual achievements for PvP but it is rendered a meaningless farce by collusion, sabotage to ones own alliance to perpetuate emperor farming agreements, and selective dominance.

I think they should just get rid of the former emperor passives myself. Too much emp trading, not enough earning and holding emp. If you want to offer an alternative, offer a good reward for being in the top ten or twenty of a campaign, the reward could even be a "general" (or some other rank type name) skill line that takes the place of "former emp".

If the emperorship was working as intended and it wasn't being abused and farmed, I would be against removing the passives.

In that perfect world, there would be very few emperors, and entire guilds certainly wouldn't be running around with the passives.

The reality is, however, that many of the former emperors are illegitimate. They were either on dead campaigns, lopsided campaigns, played as vampires, used broken walls of mercenaries, did little to actually participate in AvA, and just focused on farming zergs for AP, whether with elder scrolls, camping choke points, or particular outposts.

With that being said, I'm absolutely in favor of ZOS taking away the former emperor passives. One individual player having them isn't a big deal. However, we now have entire guilds running around with the passives in large groups, and that makes a difference.

Either way, this poll is biased just due to the fact many will vote "no" because they purely have never been an emperor. My reason for voting no is more of a matter of practicality and fairness rather than any resentment or jealousy of other players having something I don't. I've obviously been an emperor before, so I'm merely nerfing myself, but I see this as a necessary evil in order to possibly restore legitimacy to the emperorship.
