1.1 patch notes.

Hireling will no longer mail chests instead you will recieve what that character would have inside it.

Good fix. Only downside is losing that slight thrill of opening something but a good trade as the hirling farm killed that thrill anyway.

As the individual who pushed hardest for this. Thanks its a good fix.

    Can someone please explain to me why that has been a concern that had to be fixed?
    I liked the surprise effect of opening that little bag/chest that came with a few very entertaining lines of writing.

    because if you have banks filled with upgrade mats you want them to be stupidly expensive.

    @LadyLothi‌

    because you could load up all characters with 1/3 out of the craft hireling perk and then simply open all the bags on the one character who was your main and had 3/3. it was dumb and I could get 10 gold items a day easy.

    @Alephen‌

    if it's any consolation I can tell you that I have never actually sold one of these on the open market mainly because I did not want to contribute to killing the price of them not that I personally had much effect in keeping the prices up there like they should be. I still value them personally above the going rate of 3k each gold upgrade. I plan to simply hold on to them and use them to craft fr myself. I have not nor will not become rich because of that and quite honestly never wanted to. I have about 100 k gold but spend very little as everything I use is crafted or picked up myself.

    This is another failed fix, cant get rid of the gold sellers do lets make it so they can make tons of in game gold to sell on their site.

    And while you @Daverios seemed to used the exploit you complained about to recieve these items you complained about people getting you will also be one of the few to benefit for as you seem to think "Ill gotten gain"

    Personally Ive gotten 1 epic piece of mat converstion with 4 toons.

    So another failed fix

    Sounds like this "fix" boils down to "Exploit Early, and Often" because when we 'fix" it, people who weren't "making the most" of it will be left out in the cold and those who did use this "trick" will be sitting high on the hog. :(

    can you please explain how you see this as failed? I agree that it should have been fixed a long time ago and personally called for downtime on day 2. See my edited post above I personally will have no ill gotten gains out of that other then being able to easily craft an upgrade my own gear. if it's any consolation I still believe the dupes added a lot more overflow of these to the market that still exists today than hireling. The dupe was massive in scale.

    Personally, I thought it was an innovative way to make crafting have that special little "Wohoo" moment. It now isn't worth putting the points into the hireling as I get more stuff breaking items down than ( meaning the upgrade materials) than I ever got from the silly Hirelings.

    This reeks of the ill thought out Vampire fix. (and yes they needed a nerf)

    And as someone else posted above. It says the same thing as most MMO's

    We fixed what you complained about MUHAHAHA now we got more time and gold sink for you to deal with

    Please.... I've seen some made up things to try to establish a point but come on this is ridiculous. The only reason you had hirelings was because of the thrill of opening a container. lol Give me a break.

    @Daverios: Thanks for explaining.

    This is another one of those things that makes me wonder why some people even bother to play games, especially games like TESO.

    I am someone who actually plays this game, who enjoys everything it has to offer.

    I wouldn't even dream of setting up 7 alts just for the purpose of getting crafting mats. I wouldn't dream of logging in for hours on end just to loot chests and drawers in the same location over and over again.
    Where is the fun in that? How can you enjoy something you had to exploit/cheat for to achieve?
    Am I that old-fashioned that I cannot wrap my mind around that concept?

    How can you be proud of your legendary armor, if you had to cheat, exploit or buy gold for getting it? How?

    And now, because of people like that; there goes a charming little detail I have come to look forward to.

    You aren't old-fashioned. You are just a pure gamer. A pure gamer is a person that plays the game for what it was meant to be.

    Does this mean we will not get the messages from Pacrotti, etc any more? [If so] it makes me sad. I enjoyed the little stories

    Right.... And this fix changes none of that so why where you going to drop them again? Do you even understand the fix because the things you are saying make zero sense in relation to this fix.

    You still get the messages. You just get the mats outright instead of having to open a chest to get them.

    I hope not. That would be a reason for me to start a whine-fest here on the forums!
    I'm guessing that instead of that little baggie-thingie, mats will be directly attached to your hirelings mail.
    I might be wrong, though.

    Good to know.

    I will sort of miss the containers - but the whole set up with opening them was fubar'd anyway. If I switched to an alt without opening the containers - I couldn't tell who they were for.

    It never occurred to me that this could be done, so I never tried, but how did that even work? I thought containers couldn't be banked?

    So they fix the half of the issue that was being abused by players but what about the other half? When will the hireling mails be on a set timer instead of forcing you to log into the game exactly every 12 hours to make full use of them? When will the hireling mails be allowed to stack in our inbox in case we don't login for 24 hours? Come on ZOS, you guys have to get your heads out of your arses.

    They where sent to you by mail. Mail is accountwide, not send to an individual character.

    Hm. I only ever saw them in the mail of the character they were intended for. Not sure why! :)

    äh, I don´t understand this change. It fixes nothing? .. I log on my hireling account, and instead of a box I receive the item itself. I put it in my bank and.. still have additional crafting material from 8 hirelings. Or am I mistaken? o.O

    Which means with the fix, the quality check will be done when the mail arrives instead of the check being done when the chest is opened. It's a very good and needed fix.

    Basically you would set up alts each with 3 or 4 hirelings. Log into the the alts to collect the mail, but don't open, leave mail in mailbox. Log into main and open all mail, then you get all the bonuses that your main would get. Meaning the main would get high level ore/wood/silk and better chances at rare upgrade components. For very little time and initial resource investment you get 32 chests a day.

    People doing the correct process would get tons of high level mats plus many green, blue, purple and gold upgrade components everyday. It was very easy to set up initially, then only took 5 mins per day to collect all the goodies. Besides duping, it's been by far the most rewarding investment in the game considering the time spent.

    Good fix. Now hirelings work as intended. People that think it wasn't a problem don't really understand what was going on.

    I think the idea is that you will only have crafting materials appropriate to the levels of the characters with hierlings. Before, since the items came in containers, the items inside would be appropriate to the level of the character that opened it (in this case, your highest level character). Hence, you could have 7 level 3 alts with hierlings yielding max level materials for your real character.

    Ah, thanks @Laharl_Overlord‌. I would just take the chest on whatever character as soon as I got the mail, so never noticed the other characters could see them once received. Still would never have occurred to me had I noticed...I guess I'm more like @Arreyanne‌ and just play along entertaining myself, and don't worry about making it "work" for me :)

    Exactly. This fix doesn't affect people who were using hirelings as intended. It just nerfs the op hireling farm.

    Amount of materials I might get from a hireling in a 12-24 hour cycle - 2-6.

    Amount of materials I might get leaving the house and looking around for an hour - a metric ****ton more than I get from a hireling or army of hirelings.
