The nightmare that is enchanting

Enchanting is now level 11 ... and have every rune unlocked that there is to unlock which means ... no more exp. Deconstructing gives like 0.1% xp and creating a glyph even less.
And i have to reach level 16 in it before i can study new runes for a little bit of exp boost. But thats only for potency runes, which means 3 runes. And thats it. At this rate its gonna take years before i even can begin crafting with kuta runes >.<
Tried buying glyphs and deconstructing those but its just a money drain and they give even less exp then deconstructing looted glyphs.

Find someone to trade your runes with for theirs, try in your guilds

Buying them will cost a bomb.

Lol I'm L7 with all ?rune bonus XP already used up ... trading enchants is still crap, as dropped ones give almost nothing. Creating them gives ~ 50xp

This is seriously broken. Spent way too long farming a ton of runes, only to have them sit there as wasted bank space. No way I'm burning em all for 50x per. My farmed alchemy mats at least give decent xp after 'learning' various traits.

Why is it so different a scale? These are my 2 crafts on main, and feel very disappointed.

Enchants used to be fairly common drops in dungeon chests, but ~ 40 chests in BC later I had none. Public dungeon bosses seem to drop them more frequently, but quite a few were bugged and not spawning in Auridon

I'm working on enchanting and clothier. Clothier is a breeze to level. Takes no effort at all. I just decon the trash I pick up. Enchanting - crazy, crazy slow to level.

Right now I'm just hording enchants. I do break down ones I find to help with storage, but I'm waiting until a patch before I seriously work on enchanting. It's just way, way to slow.

It's more practical to just buy the enchants you want from the vendor than to craft yourself.

Considering that clothier and blacksmith are supposed to be the "hardcore" crafts, and alchemy and enchanting are supposed to be middle-of-the-road on time commitment - something is very off with enchanting progression.

My advice - horde what you can, then get at it once the progression speed is addressed.

Level 12 here, I feel your pain. I think most of my progression has been through bookshelves.

The progression speed seriously needs to be addressed. It is impossible to not outlevel enchanting at the current state it's in, which is no fun at all. Creating glyphs should contribute to a steady progression; for me, the gains are barely visible. I could empty my entire bank with 100+ runes in it and not gain a level. How is this working as intended?

I feel like enchanting is bugged. Theres no way all my other skills are past 15 yet enchanting is only 11 and shows no sign of leveling faster. I can make 4 potions and raise an alchemy level at 20 and 1 glyph does almost nothing to my xp bar. If its not bugged then im probably going to just drop it, its a waste. Enchanting never works on jewelery and there is only like 2 different armor enchants. I guess its a nice little bonus damage on weapons though.

Also why is it that all the other skills get tons of materials yet enchanting I would be lucky to find even 2 potency runes. I dont even know why I bothered leveling it, I hated it in beta and I still hate it now.
I wrote a poem that I titled, "The ganker's delight."

As you lay upon the ground, cry not little pawn.
The pain will pass as quickly as my blade did take you,
but my delight will last and you will respawn.
My heart simply cannot contain my joy, when I ply my trade.

The fault lies with you, your skill was lacking.
Now your salt is mine forever, can't you hear the laughing?
Once you were so proud and now you are reduced to this.
    A miserable, loud deuced fool.

With every tear you drip, with every excuse you let slip.
All of your insecurities and worries bring a smile to my lip.
From your despair I have ripped endless glories,
but our affair is over now. Be afraid for I will return for more.

I have received many titles, to my allies I am The sniper Emperor and Grand champion hero of the Pact. However these titles mean little to me, it is the ones given to me by my victims that I prefer. To them I am "Xv1er", "trash", "no balls", "zerger", "noob", "cringe", "no skill", "camper", "100% new", "the reason this game is dying", "pathetic", "a sack of piece of [snip]", "mediocre", "absolute inbred", "beyond a virgin", "ganky dork", "fat smelly 40yr old virgin", "little girl", "daddy", "exploiting loser", and every [snipped] word known to man.

My best guess is that it's bugged and giving about 1/100 (seriously, not exaggerating) the amount of xp it's supposed to.

I also think it's probably bugged. It's comically slow compared to everything else.

I've given up on leveling it and will be hoarding mats until it's fixed.

Same here, enchanting seems to be the slowest profession in the game to level. Would like a reply from Zenimax regarding this.

Yes it seems bugged compared with the others; btw, the number of nodes in the Auridon area is ridiculously low compared with the "starting" islands. Yesterday I found 2-4 runes nodes in like 4 hours of questing and exploration.

Not only that, the crafted glyphs worth 2-5 gold LOL. clearly nobody will make money with enchanting until endgame. It's like an expensive hobby.

Haha yeah, enchanting have the problem that you're always either lacking Potency or Aspect runes, and it's so painfully slow progress that any glyphs you make is so outleveled that not even your pet monkey could possibly use it.

I just hit VR1, my Blacksmith/Tailor/Carpenter are at around 25 just from deconstructing, while Enchanting is stuck on 16

Indeed there is something wrong with the mechanic and it should be adressed. Partially it might be caused by the fact that all glyphs that drop are white quality, unlike the gear hence give less inspiration when deconstructing them
  • Destabilizator
Lvl 12, because lucky booshelves. Missing aspect runes, yey!
Biggest downfall is that crafted gear from other professions is only half good without enchant (compared to drops or quest rewards).
It would be nice if you could actually extract enchanted items for enchanting IP.

Aspect Extraction is also broke. Have 1 SP in it. Out of the 20 glyphs I craft each day (after 4 hours of farming Aspect Runes in Khenarthi's Roost) and then break down, I get 1-3 Aspect Runes back.

If the perk is supposed to increase the chance of getting an Aspect Rune from blowing up glyphs by 5%, that would mean that the base chance is what. 0-10%?

It's broke - fix it please.

I find it curious to read this sort of complaint. Years ago I was blessed to find a game most know now called Runescape. In it, leveling any skill to the maximum level would take months, sometimes years of dedication to achieve.

This gave it meaning, it gave it value. It's a pain, but in a way that pain; that difficulty is all we have. It's the fuel that enables our social fires to persist for years and years instead of fizzling into but a few sparks in a matter of months.
  • tbmorrisonb14_ESO
Remember in Skyrim how raising the last few high level skills took forever, and the trick was not to read skill books until you reached the high level bottlenecks? Is this something worth considering for enchanting?
If the enchanting skill books are in fixed locations, then avoid these until later in the game. (if not in fixed locations, avoid reading skill books altogether).

I would say join a guild if you haven't and ask people to help out. It's what I've done I get a lot of runes in the mail. I then either turn them into Glyphs people have asked for or I make a pile of random stuff and dump them into the guild vault for people to take.

Yeah, I don't know what's going on here - I was one of the PTS testers and the broken enchanting leveling was one of my biggest complaints. ZOS seemed to have it fixed in one of the final patches before release, but then they reverted to a crappy system for launch. WTH?

I don't mind it taking time as long as there is content. But that isn't the point here. The point here is that enchanting don't in the slightest keep up with any other crafting skills or your actual combat level even if you focus on it. Which means you outlevel it, and it becomes useless pretty much until endgame when it finally may catch up.

Enchanting is by far the slowest crafting skill. Provisioning, on the other hand, levels up insanely quickly. Even low-level recipes noticeably contribute IP. And then there's the number of enchanting mats vs. other professions. Given that you need one of each type of rune, and that Potency and Aspect runes are quite rare, I find myself waiting for one to drop before I can craft another glyph.

As many have said, I'm now hoarding all runes, save for a few I use to enchant my own gear. At this rate, enchanting will fail hard in the game. Hope a fix is coming soon.

Well. You all have a fair point. My current problem is that I can't find any aspect runes to use. Got more than 200 runes in my bank but can't use them because I only got 2 yellow aspect runes and no white, green, etc. ones. And the follow up of this lack is that nobody wants to sell them to me because they need them themselves. Conclusion: No progress.

LOL I am sorry but when I read this I thought of "You kids don't know how good you have it. When I was a kid I had to walk to school five miles in the snow and up hill in both directions."

I tend to believe that we are playing a game, crafting should not feel like work. I do that 8+ hours a day 5 and 6 days a week, at least I get paid for that work.

I got 12 Ta runes alone from looting Heavy Sacks in Fungal Groto, these sacks, if you see them have a high chance to give you exactly what you are searching for, its not a fix, but it will treat the pain^^

I normally don't mind crafts that level slowly. However, the problem here is that while leveling, you only obtain potency runes that are applicable to your current character level, yet your enchanting capability lags so far behind that those runes are unusable.

In the end, your stuck with a bunch of potency runes you can't use because your enchanting lvl is too low, and no way to level your enchanting because you can't craft any glyphs without potency runes.

Ya I agree, too easy, then they are done in a month or 2 and every other players is trying to sell the same thing , nothing is "rare" or hard to make in these new MMO, not like the old days.....maybe they did make it hard for a reason...
