Golden pursuits - earn levels

Maybe I'm overlooking something here, but I'm CP3600 and have all character slots used. How am I supposed to earn levels without deleting a toon? Or does it count the XP internally somehow (since I'm still gaining it, it just doesn't change anything on the bar)?
I'm aware I don't need every single one to get the last price, but as far as I can see that locks me out of 5 pursuits already.

Chiming in to say - not a fan of this either.

It's skewed, earning levels at low level (pre-CP) is much easier/faster than at higher CP.

I also do not want to delete characters and have no desire to create a new character.

I thought there would be more choices that would allow all types of players to earn the top reward. Instead of repetitive ones, there could have been other types of activities.

I tallied up what I normally do and reached 18. To get 20, I'd have to PvP, do trials, or level a new character, none of which I'm interested in doing. I guess questing, crafting, group dungeons, the IA, etc. just isn't enough. We're supposed to do it ALL. For a mount. No thanks. I just want to play the game and enjoy what I'm doing.

This puts "Golden Pursuits" into the ignore category for me. One less hamster wheel to worry about.

ETA: If earning a CP level counts for levelling, maybe I can do it, but since it's a holiday month and I'll be playing less, not sure. Still, I'm going to ignore pursuits. I don't want to be doing busywork with my gaming time. I'll stick with endeavors and buy what I want.

    @ZOS_Kevin

I am in the same boat as OP. I have 20 characters at level 50 cp 3600 and I will never delete one because they have gone through horse training and full crafting research.

Is it possible to complete these Golden Pursuits at cp 3600 or have a patch that marks them complete for cp 3600 players?
(Math before coffee, except after 3, is not for me)

Does anyone even know if CP levels also count? Or only the first 50 levels of a character?

I’m not home yet to see them, but do they not offer more options than needed like they did on PTS?

I know “level up or gain CP” is a thing during ZoZ which I have friends who can’t do, but there are other options for them to get instead in that case.

If it’s only “gain a level” though, definitely seems like that feeds into their current alt character spotlight. I’m still hoping that June will bring me a reason to make an alt (read: new class please!)

The Earn Levels tasks require you to gain levels 10, 20, 30, 40 and 45 times. There isn't an activity reward tied to these tasks.

And there is about 30 tasks to choose from.

Earned a CP this morning. Doesn’t count as a level? Only way for me to earn levels and actually complete ALL of the Golden Pursuits is to delete a character? All 20 of my characters have full stable training (theoretically 180 days to complete). Not sure this was thought out properly.

By my count you should be able to complete these without creating a new alt. Granted you will have to pvp to get there.

I am still 3400 CP but if I were at the cap already I'd feel pretty shafted ngl.

As with @ganzaeso all my characters are levelled up, have horse training, all 9 traits researched, all skill lines/skills/morphs levelled (except WW, only 7 have that one), all skyshards, all dungeon/public dungeon skill points, many full motifs learned and so on and so forth.

Deleting a single character is deleting a lot of hours of gameplay and at least six months of progress (horse training/trait research using scrolls).

Not to mention armoury slots that are non-transferable between characters and non-refundable.

I hope that this particular matter is looked into, for the sake of those already at the cap and for my sake moving forward; all things being equal I should be at the cap mid next year.

Then you can delete and remake a character.

It seems like with 29 options, 9 of which are not necessary, that we can all decide what is most important to us.

Also, the Endeavors, and now Pursuits, have a secondary objective of trying to encourage people to play other modes that they don’t normally play, and the PvP and PvE trials communities really could use some more people in them.

I get it. I hate PvP, but I’ll pop in every so often if I need to - usually because there’s a cosmetic I want. I just did a bunch of solo 8v8s over the past week to try to get the Eld Angavar staff page, so a reason to do BGs to get tokens is fine for me…. because I’m not touching them unless I have a reason. Also the queues for BGs (and group finder opportunities for normal trials) tend to get a lot more activity when there’s an Endeavor for it, so people can easily join a trial with no experience needed. And things like the normal Crags are really easy even for those with no experience, or nAS or nCR are quick (but are a bit more dangerous).

In short: try those things, especially when there’s a gamewide event trying to encourage participation, because you’re totally not alone in that and then people will also be understanding that there are new people around.

Then you can delete and remake a character.

At what point does it become silly, though? For players who like to do all types of activities (PvP, trials, IA, dungeons, etc.), there are 24 choices without having to level a new character. That's plenty to get to 20.

But for players who don't like to do a subset of activities in the game, those choices are reduced to fewer than 20 without the levelling choices. So instead of doing what someone enjoys, you're suggesting they spend their gaming time levelling a new character they don't want, need, or will ever play again, just so they can collect a mount?

To me, this is a test. How high do you jump when ZOS says jump? I'm done jumping. When I game, I want to have fun and enjoy myself.

    Yes. That’s the point.

Do you find it fun to get rewards, but thereby needing to expose yourself to things you don’t normally do? Great! Try it, grumble until it’s done, and then walk away from it.

Do you detest doing other things enough that no reward is enough? Great! Keep doing what you’re doing, and forgo the reward.

Rewards are given for completing challenges. If you don't want to complete challenges, then you don't get rewards.

Just play the game the way you want to play it — literally nothing changes. You aren't penalized for not doing these challenges.

Unrelated: I'm genuinely surprised some people ask for earnable rewards, then complain when those rewards require them to complete content they don't like.

    Again, not the point.

It should never be a case that the longer you have engaged with the game the fewer your options are.

If anything it should be the opposite.

Otherwise they are saying the quiet part out loud: we only care about attracting new players or increasing the engagement level of those who play more casually.
