Eliminating 5 of the 29 this way does seriously limit a number of players options.
The trial ones, if you aren't in a guild or don't do trials and play solo, are out.
The pvp ones become difficult if you don't pvp.... someone new to pvp might not find it easy to kill 10 players (unless you set something up with a friend? idk)
Even group dungeons can be difficult for solo players but can be worked.

I'm not saying any of the above ones are bad. I'm saying all of the leveling ones knocked out make it very difficult for a LOT of players.

An option would be for them to allow CP point levelling to work for these achievements.
But even that wouldn't work for the folks that are very high in CP points, it starts to take a bit to get another one when you are up around 3600 and all your characters would be the same. But it would be something I guess.

I like the variety they have but there shouldn't be that many tied to one single activity.

There could be options to earn some TelVar points in the sewers, repair buildings in Cyr, craft gold furnishings, Scry and dig a bunch of antiquities - gold ones maybe so pple have to level up that. Lots of options instead of sinking 5 achievements in basically starting a new character.

Or else give everyone another character slot. That would work too.

I find it really strange they didn't do that when the whole theme of the month seems to be creating and levelling a new character to 50. Could have even made it the December 1 log-in reward or something like that. Would certainly have given them a few popularity points.

While ppl are lamenting, I just finished and got the bear - without the leveling. Come on, it's easy. If you managed to get 20 chars to CP level, you should be experienced enough to finish the pursuit in two days, even without the event yet to come.

still not the point. I'll get it easy on two accounts but excluding players from being given the same number of choices as other players is not a good plan.

Should have been gain 30,000 XP, gain 170K XP, gain 580K XP and gain 1,400K XP. I know it is easier for players to track levels rather than XP so they can see how they advance each level and that gives some reward in between rewards. Still would have been better to tie it to XP gains instead of level gains.

    Not the point.

The point being it penalises players for their loyalty and dedication by restricting their options.

Except it isn't a penalty...they give you other options to do. It would only be a "penalty" if it was required.

Exactly. It's not a penalty for vet players. They already ensured it would have absolutely zero negative impact on players who can't do it by making it so that they will not lose any rewards.

It's a completely optional, accessibility option for new players who are either de jure or de facto locked out of harder content.

Most games have things tailored for new players that you can level out of. It feels very much like the argument here is that solo high level players should have every single thing catered to them.

It is 29 choices compared to 24 choices. That is a difference that shouldn't exist. All players should be given same opportunities. Players with new characters have the option to level or not. Players with no low level characters do not have that option. They are given less.

How many choices does a new, under leveled account have? Realistically, they are not going to get very far in IA, they won't earn 75K AP unless they're smurfing, they won't participate in trials. So new players are locked out of at least 4 options.

Fair and equal are not the same thing, nor are they necessary, and I think zos did a great job of balancing these pursuits.

I hope there are more themed pursuits in the future. I would love one that gave exclusive rewards to competitive raiding, for example.

New players do not have a realistic option to join trials. It may not be de jure lockouts but it is de facto lockouts. They aren't getting into those things. The devs gave them something they can do. Vet players still have choices and can get all rewards.

Well put. Here's a good illustration of this concept and how ZOS designed things for vets and new players. I also think ZOS did a great job of giving some additional options for new players without it negatively impacting vet ones.

Earned a CP this morning. Doesn’t count as a level? Only way for me to earn levels and actually complete ALL of the Golden Pursuits is to delete a character? All 20 of my characters have full stable training (theoretically 180 days to complete). Not sure this was thought out properly.

I just read your post. I also did not get credit for gaining a cp today, and the pursuits were active yesterday I think.

Crafting stations bought with writ vouchers are not bound. You can buy them for gold from guild traders.

You can also test and see if it works in your guild hall.

I did check crafting in another player's home and it didn't count, but I got credit for visiting another player's home.

By way of explanation, the crafting pursuit does not affect me in the slightest. I've got stations, I've got homes (and homes with stations), I've got mats, I've got my crafting skills maxed out for everyone (two toons bringing up the rear on getting Nirnhoned researched, but that's fully expected), so my perspective is 100% coming from "what if I didn't have those means?"

The pursuits run for a bit more than a month, so it's not like a starting player couldn't get the means, but only that this particular pursuit biases strongly against newer players in the same way that the "gain X levels" pursuits bias strongly against more established players.

Just adding my complaint to the others.

CP should count towards these. This is just stupid. I literally started my last character slot over the weekend... but she's already level 28. My other 19 slots are level 50. So I'm locked out of 3 of these pursuits.

I'm a non-PVP'ing, solo player. I've never killed anyone in Cyradiil.. let alone 10 people. How many days to make 75K AP? I guess I could anger a bunch of real players and go hang out in 10 battleground matches but I would literally not know what I was doing. PVP locks me out of 4 pursuits.

And Trials? Does everyone but me have a trials guild? I've never even been in one. I have no idea how many players that even takes. And I have to COMPLETE them.. so 'almost' doesn't count. And that is two more pursuits.

Which makes 9. 9 is the most you can miss... but I've never been able to kill Tho'at either. So one of those Infinite Archive pursuits will cost me one more.

I could delete this character.. but I used the Reward Calendar AP drop on Saturday to get her the level 3 Assault mount speed.. so I would lose that on any new character until the end of the month. (arrggg.. and all the mount speed books I'd been hording)

If they made CP count as levels then I would be fine.

I'm not a n00b. I've got over 10K hours in. But I've had to pass up a lot of content due to being fat fingered under pressure. And I knew that chances were I was not going to be able to participate all of the Golden Pursuits... but it's still disappointing because the CP exclusion seems incredibly pointless.

You don't need to interact in pvp to get ap, just follow a group and take a few keeps. 75k can be done very casually in a week. I typically can do 25k in just a few hours and I am a very casual pvper, I just go for the transmute stones.

As far as battlegrounds. You don't have to win. Just pop in try your best and expect to die. It's what I do. If people complain tell them your there for the pursuits and if they don't like it they can complain to ZOS.

Also, you don't have to defeat Tho'at in IA for those pursuits.

There are some very very easy ones on the list though to make up for the harder ones. IA is just get to first cycle boss kill it and repeat. Normal base game dungeons are designed that a group of 4 low level characters should clear it. Normal fungal grotto 1 and elden hollow 1

One you can get by entering and leaving your own home. 75 resources is just a few surveys.

The hardest 4 on the list for solo players are the 2 trial pursuits, and the 75k AP, and the 10 kills.

Remove those and the levels the the hardest ones is clearing 5 normal dungeons and clearing IA cycle bosses. Which honestly isn't hard to do if you are willing to cheese it by stopping after 1st cycle boss. And again unlike last pursuit you have a full month to do all of them.

It's a fun and motivating reward for anyone with a character to level, including new players. And it's not necessary for maxed-out players to get all the rewards, so it seems like good and thoughtful design. There's no need to make it include CP.

Just because there are options that some players can't complete doesn't make it bad design. I think we should be more welcoming to players who can enjoy these leveling options and not expect every option be achievable by every player.

I'd rather have it this way if it's fun for players with characters to level, even though I can't earn it myself unless I remake a character.

Gaining CP absolutely should count. 45 CP levels would be challenging for high CP players. I've levelled all my characters to CP (and with riding levelled to 60) so I'm not deleting any and have no spare free character slots.
This is a cash grab by ZoS to force people to buy more character slots, with 5 of the achievements being tied to levels.

Levelling from 3 to 50 is not a huge deal, there are Alchemy Master Writs and 2x XP New Life Event upcoming, but..
The catch, as i see it is - re-training mount takes 180 days (or massive purchase of riding books), which i consider unfair.

What about the inevitable mount training?

Respectfully, any player that has the max amount of characters at cp level can find a moment in the upcoming 30-something days to skip through some nFG's, nAA's and BG's.

If you would count the time a new player needs to complete 20 pursuits and a vet players needs then you'll see we've got nothing to complain about.

They should have included cp leveling, as hard as that would be on higher cp levels.
But why five completions for leveling... If you want players to experience all options in the game the should have added some with, fishing, tales of tribute, buying/selling through guilds or even just collect daily rewards or lorebooks/skyshards. Scrying and scribing would be nice to, though they would be behind dlc so i get why they didnt add those.

Luckily i have kept a toon on level 10 since release, so i guess its time to level that.
