It's inconvenient for the purpose of lorebook hunting, but is it possible to read it in someone else's house?

I was thinking the same thing about the fireplaces. It was really strange to put one right at the entrance across from the outside door and the other in a corner away from the main part of the room..

A fireplace should be a main focal point of a room but there is no way to do that with these.

I may just block them off and place my own fireplaces where they make more sense.

So not the point. If I, or anybody is paying out money, it should be for content/features not cosmetics, and certainly not just for access to a lorebook.

but with Home Tours you can go to dozens, if not hundreds, of different Seabloom Villas to read the new book.
You do not have to pay to read it.

And housing is content, not cosmetics. cosmetics are appearance collectibles.

What? Cosmetics are the main thing you should have to pay for. Who wants a game that feels pay to win because its main cash shop income comes from gameplay rather than cosmetics?

The interior is weird through and through. The inside stone doesnt match the outside stone. Nobody does ladders for stairs. If it hadn't been so cheap, there's no way I'd have gotten this house.

Very very nice to have a big ocean-view garden though.

Except there's plenty of people buying it because they think the house is cute. I didn't even realize it came with a lorebook and I bought it because it was cute.

i love it too, but damm they have limited the outside build space, I try to place walkways to the litte islands around the house.. nope invis barriers or one just dies if I build a patch this way. People have build much further away from main arear in other houses, but for some reason they have made a strick arear for builing this time.

    1. Open Group window.
    2. Go to Housing Tours.
    3. Select Seabloom Villa in the filter.
    4. Visit one of the many Seabloom Villas that people have opened to the public. Some will have removed the book. But many, esp. the listings that say that it's the original configuration, will still have it.

That made me so sad that I couldn't build to those smaller islands.

It's a nice house but yes, the fireplaces should be moveable as well as the flower effect trigger outside the house. I will place some fencing to ensure that I don't fall to my death while admiring the beautiful ocean view.
I have an ethereal crown of three spirit crows:
    - On top is Grandfather spouting words of wisdom.
    - On the left is Empathy who is rather naive.
    - On the right is Ego who is rather greedy.
The incessant cackling is quite amusing.

Whilst you cannot build out to any of the nearby islands you can add a fairly significant chunk of building area around the house's edges.....

What bothers me is that if you just move a tiny bit down the cliff on the right, your character immediately dies. I understand that they have to keep us from leaving the plot, but dying when jumping down only half a meter or 1.6 ft seems ridiculous. I would have prefered them to place a fence there, or bushes (that's probably what I will place there now); probably even an invisible wall would have been better.

I'm not bothered by the clutter from the world boss at all, btw (as I've seen people complaining about that). Actually I'd find it even more interesting if the world boss was visible, even if there is no way of interacting. I always enjoyed looking at the necromancer's altar down the hill from Lakeview Manor in Skyrim :D

Sooo I also find the placing of the lower floor fireplace a bit odd!

Never mind I thought, I'll just block that small area off I thought......

OMG as someone mentioned above, WHY is the internal stone a totally different colour to the external stone???

Not only a different colour but I have spent the last little while trying to match that colour with pretty much every structural furnishing I can lay my hands on....

Either the stones are totally different shapes or the colour is just wrong, I've given up for the night, if anyone has any luck please let me know! 🤯

The different stone colour wouldn't bother me. It's natural that stone interiors darken because of the soot from the hearths, or the exterior being bleached by the sun or altered in any way by the weather, pollen, dirt and what not.

The ladder is indeed an odd choice. If it led to an attic, that would be normal, but for another regular floor, it's weird.

Yes. It's.... an odd choice. Truthfully, had I been designing this house, the fireplace would have been turned 90 degrees to face the door, and the ladder would have been a staircase with a short ell and landing before going up. And no need at that point for a trapdoor....

As far as the lorebook, I don't think you need to visit anyone else's house-- just preview the house, and read and collect the lorebook while you're previewing it.

Is there a way to preview it? If so, how? I looked yesterday before buying it and it neither showed up on the Auridon map nor in collections > houses > unowned.

You can walk directly up to it. I personally recommend doing it by first touring the house owned by someone else. You can do this using the new House Tours feature. When you walk out the door, it will place you right in front of it and discover it on your map. Walk back inside and you'll be able to view the preview. But it's also right next to the Seaside Scarp Camp world boss, so you can just walk over to it, if you'd prefer.

If you know where it is, you can just walk right up to it. It'll populate on your map when you get close.

It's the texture and size and shape of the blocks as well as the colour that differs outside to in. Outside is limestone, smooth, large blocks. Inside is not.

Are the walls two blocks thick? It's not cold in Auridon? And the doorway isn't that deep to indicate a double thick wall?

It makes no sense the inside of the stone walls isn't the same stone, cut, and size, as the outside of the stone walls.

The probably thickest walls exist in desert regions. They keep the heat out.

But if nothing matches and the doorways aren't deep enough either, it indeed looks like ZOS just didn't pay enough attention.

I really do love the house. But I can't help wishing they would just ASK people if they have any thoughts about a new house before they release it - as in, what works or what doesn't work, and ideas for fixes before release.

And as always, I look back at housing in RIFT, and heave a HUGE *sigh* for water under so many bridges....

it first became available on pts in July, people could have given feedback about the walls during the u43 pts cycle.

probably wouldn't have been changed even then, but i dont recall any posts about the walls from during the pts cycle

I saw it promoted in the release announcement and my heart sank at the interiors. But why give feedback? It makes no difference?
