ZOS, Massive Spike in Ping/LAG in Recent Days - What Gives?

    Was running Infinite Archive on PCNA with a friend; they had random bouts of 10 second freezes followed by break-neck rubber-banding. My client randomly hanged three times, each time taking 5+minutes to rejoin with the error 'booted from server' given on several attempts and having to kill the process with task manager after each attempt since the UI would disappear. Each time this happened cost us a thread since I'd be kicked back to the IA lobby dead with no way for her to rez me.

    We ended up hanging up the run after beating arc 4; this just isn't worth it.

    My game was getting pretty bad prior to the update of the servers last week. I thought they would make it better, only made it worse. I have a video of me lagging out several times in infinite archive, no issues with ISP at all, 100% ESO only. Was watching friends play, 5 crashed at the same time in PvP while the others were perfectly fine. Something is going on with the way individuals are being routed or there is just some account specific problem that is randomly distributed when you log in, no idea what it is though.

    DDoS attacks, and possibly something else. It has been confirmed by ZOS, and discussed during the last page or so of replies.

    I was very disappointed in the Anniversary Event and had already bought Gold Road. I asked for a refund and was very happy when I was given that refund.

    I will be playing other games if this keeps up. It's been a terrible time trying to get anything done. Yesterday I deleted a DC Templar. I went into cyro and nobody was speaking in chat. I thought they were just ignoring me. But now I wonder if there was anybody there.

    It is disconcerting to try to fight and have no weapons functioning and to look down and see 999+ in glaring red.

    Ten years I have never seen anything like this.

    My town has fibre optic as a utility and we are 4th fastest in the nation. This is the first time in 2 years I have had any problems.

    Not putting in a ticket as dealing with customer service is too stressful. If I have a problem I usually just usually live with whatever is wrong. but there is no living with this mess.

    Basically cancelling all my prog groups and the ones I am currently signed up for have also been cancelled because this issue has been going on basically since the pts and live server combo issue. The game has become unplayable. Last night in vCloudrest +3 half the team were experiencing yo-yo effects and our Gryphon Heart prog group was unable to even complete. All groups are taking a break until this gets figured out. Very disappointing.

    I feel your pain. I've been here from the start and I've never seen something like this last so long. I have a 2-3ms route to the server. My connection, video drivers, Windows install, etc are not the issue. I am about ready to dust off some other games as well. I really hate Gold Road release is a few days away with the problems we currently have.

    What the! This happened to me today while I was playing! Just finished running Dragon Star Arena, going up the funnel of light at the end then bam! Black screen. Had to hard restart to get everything working again.
    Crown Crates are a trap. Don't fall for the gamble! Balance? What Balance? Balance, smellance.

    Ping definitely has increased and is more unstable for me in EU still. Good to know you're aware of it at least.

    These performance issues are making the game unplayable. Every raid has a number of people affected by these lags; sometimes it’s only one, sometimes it’s over half the group. One person will say “I’m frozen” and immediately at the same time there are 3 or 4 others saying the same. It’s so frustrating trying to get through a raid, or even just any type of content (dailies, random dungeons, etc). We had 5 weeks of a patch with constant crashes, and since then we’ve had weeks of constant lag. It is especially frustrating trying to prog a trifecta when you’re close to getting it but are weighed down by people dying out of their control because they are frozen for 5-10 seconds at a time.

    I don’t understand the lack of communication. But, I haven’t bought the new expansion and I won’t unless there is something that shows you all care about the crappy state of the games performance.

    ESO is the only game I've ever played that does this to my PC when the game crashes. It's not all the time of course, just occasionally, but sometimes a game crash even freezes up my router and kills my internet access for a minute or two even. Only ESO does this when crashing sometimes.

    Really really bad performance tonight. I think one of the mass disconnects they had a week or two ago were the DDOS attacks. This rubber band stuff and random lag spikes is 100% not DDOS related.

    been through plenty of DDOS attacks in other games in the past

    you get EXACTLY this kind of stuff, lag spike, rubber banding, disconnect and stuff

    it's the DDOS

    If a company with the resources ZOS has can't effectively deal with a DDoS attack effectively then that's still a problem with ZOS.

    Sustaining a DDoS attack for this long of a period of time is impossible. I'd take a stab that the mass server issues we saw for a day or two a few weeks ago were the DDoS attack. The remaining issues (rubber banding/lag spikes/crashes) is the "other" stuff - that has been going on for 2-3 weeks now.

    A lot of us don't use Reddit, or Twitter, or Twitch, etc. Any official information should be posted here, on the official The Elder Scrolls Online website. People shouldn't be expected to join every available social media site to piece together necessary and relevant information.

    I think internally they are wanting to prioritize this issue due to the impact it's having on the game as a whole so posting numbers here helps them consolidate ones that are specific to this issue.. vs going one by one through all the random ticket sections to try to pin point ones that are related to this. I highly doubt every single support team member is only working on tickets posted in this thread.

    umm, yeah? That seemed pretty clear to me. I mean, it's not implied, it's outright stated, post tickets here to get more attention to the issue quickly. This is a bad thing?
