What happend here?

So I had 31k resistances and toe tapped a wall of elements, while some was attacking baron thrisk. I went from 100 to zero on contact.

My guess would be I got hit by Oblivion damage from knight slayer scaled to the health of the boss with empower and heavy attack champ passives. Thing is knight slayer only hits for 9k max.

Any ideas?

It is splash damage from lightning heavy attack. With Empower, it does a ton of damage to a PvE mob like Baron Thirsk, which makes the splash damage hit players in the vicinity like a truck. I feel like splash damage needs to be recalculated against a player, and not just scale based on original damage to PvE mob.

It is an exploit in pvp right now.
People running heavy attack set ups with empower and off balance and heavy attack increase sets, then they target a pet or mob or boss and you get hit with the splash damage from the lightning heavy attack.
Really freaking stupid. Hope they fix this.

Agreed Battle Spirit is bugged and not affecting Tri Focus properly. But they should also buff Empower by at least 20% against players. They overnerfed heavy attacks in PvP.

maybe will just remain a nice trick cuz it's working properly. Empower hits pve mob, and tri focus splashes the damage. Battle spirit reduces the damage u take from the splash, but can't and shouldn't reduce the damage done by empower to a pve mob.

No, this is absolutely an exploit and not "working as intended". The WHOLE POINT of changing Empower was to eliminate exactly this behavior/
This is very much a PVE damage buff (new empower) affecting players.
@ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_GinaBruno is this something the team has been made aware of and intends to fix?

I don't think it's specifically a bug, but it's definitely is not intended.

Not sure how hard it is to fix as there's likely unintended consequences with making changes to it, but something like tagging all NPCs in pvp instances as "PVP combatants" so they don't count towards empower would be something to look into.

It does need looking into fixing though because this gives another strike against sorc pets in pvp since they can now be targets for this build causing entire groups to potentially wipe just for having a sorc pet in the group.

u r not getting damaged by empower, u r getting damaged by tri focus. It's simple and really doesn't sound like a bug.
