Not regenerating Magicka while blocking

So, this is a rather bizarre bug. I notice that sometimes after equipping my tank build from the armory assistant, that I cannot regenerate magicka while blocking with shield! I have an ice staff, and I know that blocking with an ice staff reduces magicka recovery to 0. However, swapping to shield, I am still not recovering magicka! What's going on!




Notice in the clip that I first dump some magicka to get low, block with ice staff. My mag recovery is 0, so this makes sense. When I swap to shield, my mag recovery goes back to 907... but I'm not gaining any magicka! If I drop shield, I start to recover mag again, but blocking once more halts the recovery again... It may be hard to see, but if you look reeeaaaallly close, my mag bar goes up a bit, then drops back down. Also, I can confirm this ISN'T just a UI bug cause the magicka isn't there. It doesn't recover and using more mag doesn't show that there is some invisible pool of mag.

I have seen this bug a dozen times now, in several situations. IDK if it's a Templar thing, or not. I can provide my build if that would help someone reproduce it. The only thing that I know is the connection with all these times it happens is that I use the Armory Assistant to swap to my Tank build. Just today, it's happened in the Deadlands, in City of Ash 2 dungeon, and in my house making this gif. It doesn't happen all the time though, so I'm not quite sure what's going on here but there is definitely a bug.

Except they are both completely different.

https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/625425/ice-staff-blocking is all about the Ancient Knowledge passive not working when blocking with the ice staff.

Please read and understand the issues before closing threads.

You might wish to reach out to the mod who closed it and/or to Kevin, as these do not appear to be duplicates. Sometimes mods seem to read reports and assume the reports are correct, but they do have a responsibility to verify that the threads are in fact duplicates, which does not appear to be the case here.

But since there are rules against reposting closed threads, it might help to get in touch with the mod or forum manager directly to prevent it from happening again.

I definitely would have done that, if I knew how to contact a specific person. How do I "get in touch with the mod or forum manager"? The thread is closed, so I can't say anything there... What is the correct procedure for discussing a mis-closed thread by a mod?

If a moderator reads these threads and can delete this duplicate AND reopen the original, I would appreciate it!

You can click on the mod's name to go to their profile page and then find the Message button in the top right.

It may just be a PVP thing but when I block in PVP I regain neither Magic or Stamina. I just thought it was supposed to be like that. I'm playing a DPS however so just using weapons to block.

I`ve been asking for a couple of years why resources are poor, I would like to have an addon to show me the recovery while i`m fighting but no one has paid attention.

I use the Omni Stat addon. It works pretty well and has good customization to select the stats you want to see.

Passives that proc during channeling, having to open character sheets during combat, /cmx not capturing all relevant data, short proc windows. Ya, I find the ability to see your character stats live, during combat, critical to finding these bugs in the first place! Would be nice if there was native support for this.

im just glad to see other people enjoying omnistats lol

ive been using that one for like ~5-6 years, i think last year it starting having problems because it was like 3 years out of date due to the original owner not playing anymore

i havent messed with programming addons myself but i brought it up about this addon in the addon subforum and a kind soul was able to get it updated to work again lol
