A keep is under attack by a full raid (24 players) how do you defend it?

If there are 24 people at a keep, I'll take my group to another keep and do a swap if I don't feel like defense is a viable option and sometimes even if the defense would be viable. They can split forces to come defend the new keep, making the current target easier to defend for others or they can stay there, making my new target easier to take.

Outer: stacking at entry point with plenty of siege coverage.

Inner: Oil on the stairs and above the doorways. You can fit 2 on each side of the stairs plus one above the smaller doors. You can stack 4 above the main door. Meatbag on the second flag. Cold fires on either side of the second flag. A couple of tanky dks between the first and second flag to snare. Everyone else should be snaring and ult dropping anything that moves. You literally have the advantage as they are fighting through a bottleneck. To bad most people don't realize that.

Not sure why you mention them specifically, but yes, they are woven into all the other attacks if the situation calls for it.

Very situational but does ok damage if applied correctly.

Actually, if I'm the only person there, I type "AD raid at Drake FD" and then book it to the inner to set up oils because the only chance I have of surviving this is for the reinforcements to show up in time

2 oils above door (there is room for a catapult too) then 4 oil when they ram inner door plus another catapult
when they get inside,oils above second flag,hopefully some1 has come for help till then
if not, i pop an invisibility potion and hide top floor

I hide until they flipped keep and moved on, then siege it and try retake from inside

I either walk away or pick a few of em off till they get me. A good 1vX can give nice AP. As long as they are just pugs I can typically take a few before I die

If I'm ungrouped, I stay mobile and look for opportunities to slow them down, disrupt them, isolate stragglers/over-extenders and eventually, hopefully, help wipe them when they're vulnerable.

do a little perfunctory catapulting and oil pouring - then, go out in a blaze of glory - cuz, chances are very good they'll only be one or two other players bothering to defend the keep...

Or... you git gud and solo the zerg.. whatever works.

I LOL at the "light attack" option as by watching the number of people of the roof spamming them, it is clear some people believe that is optimal.

In all seriousness, the difference a few motivated people can do ought not to be underestimated. It pretty much depends on the group, but most 24 raids are not super disciplined and can be distracted and disrupted. Nightblades and 1vX players can harass and kill siegers. Oil will force them off a ram. At the end of the day, very outnumbered defenders only chance is for reinforcements to arrive, however by doing the sorts of things above, it is very possible and the effort should be made rather than quitting.

I'd say 16 defenders who have a clue can prevent most 24 man raids from capturing a keep. The attackers want to do 4 things that are incompatible:

1. Cover apse flag
2. cover nave flag
3. kill oilers on top
4. stay together.

If the attackers split on flags, they can be oiled and contested. If the attackers make an effort to clear the top, defenders can stay mobile and flip back flags. Usually friendles will arrive quicker and in greater numbers than unfriendlies so the 16 just have to survive long enough. Defenders who die should be patient, they will get rezzed bc/ the attackers can;t be everywhere at once.

Defending keeps while outnumbered is one of the more enjoyable PvP experiences ESO has to offer.

Run away as fast as your mount will carry you lol JK im not sure Ive ever tried to defend a keep but I also have only maybe 6-8 hours in cyrodiil and i wont lie I was zerg surfing for vigor and caltrops haha

You need everything. Snipers. Seige weapons. Group troops ready to fight at any breached walls or doors.

Respawning camps are also crucial.

go to zon chat , type the name of the keep followed by 911 !! and annoy the enemy until your friends, guilds, faction ect arrive from behind the enemy and kill them all ... simple ...

I don't understand why people try to defend keeps, or even engage enemies without having huge amounts of allies.

Don't they know if they fight they will die? Dying in this game is scary and I want to be safe on top of the keep wall until it falls.

If see one person fighting three people and getting beat down, I just ride by and hope they didn't see me. I need my AP tick. I deserve the AP tick.

ive done that just the other day , i was by my self in the keep that was taken over by other faction and i was hiding behind the stairs in the inner wall while ive seen soooo many enemy around me and my thoughts were "please don't find me, don't find me, don't find me, dont, find me " and then when my alliance broke the wall and poured in i was like " LET ME HAVE THEM !!! " lol
