Oblivion damage is pure damage and cannot be mitigated by any means, to include battle spirit. Oblivion damage has and should always work this way.

And just because, the idea that shields still prevent critical hits is absolutely mindboggling. Being able to shield through bleeds also makes absolutely no sense.

Shields have no armor resists, allowing them to be crit would strip them off in one hit.

Funny how I don't see as many forum complaints about 35K resist heavy armor builds with 35K health, decent block cost, troll king, major vitality, and excellent damage.

Between the resists and holding down one button, you take no damage.
    You have 15K more health.
    You have far better resists.
Your self heals outpace the damage.
You have lower ability costs, every single stamina weapon line has a 20% cost reduction passive.
You can block far longer than I can shield.
You hit hard despite what people like to admit on a tanky build.

Don't get me started on what a magplar can do. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying that shields are strong. So is everyone else. It's competitive.

That build with 35k health and Troll King is never going to kill a Shield Stacked Sorc that is even mediocre. People don't complain about those builds because those builds do not kill people. People complain about Mag Sorcs because they have every bit of the Tankiness you just described along with the ability to deal stupid amounts of damage thrown in on top of it all.

Look at the big picture though... You get these two together in open-world - neither is gonna kill each other.. it comes down to sustain - which the DK can do forever, and *most* (not all) magsorcs can.. But more likely it boils down to what adds come in... DK player knows that of 2-3 enemies join the fight he can continue to tank em all. Sorc knows that if 2-3 enemies join the fight he's dead... so DK just keeps the sorc stuck in the fight with constant CC waiting for adds to turn up.

See, this is the thing.. Sorcs can survive 1v1s well while dishing out a lot of damage... but die with more attackers.. Soo med defence, high dmg. Your usual DK tank can survive everything a faction can throw at it (exaggerating I know) - so superb defence and do mediocre damage.
    Seems ok to me..

But then as a magsorc, there are *some* DK builds(players) that I've come across whereby my shields cannot keep up with their damage and my dmg just scratches them. These 'tanks that do damage' seem to be a problem - but I suspect they don't have the sustain or supreme tankiness to tank half the faction... And this is another problem - peoples conceptions.. you see the DK tanking half the faction and think 'damn those DK's are tough'.. Then you see one dishing out 10k wrecking blows and you think 'damn they hit hard' .. then you see one with the constant CC and you're like.. Man those DK's.. cant hurt them, they do a ton of dmg, sustain for ever and that CC..! You can't get all that in one build tho!
    Minalan owes me a beer.

I'll just leave this here. Tank builds do plenty of damage, that's a popular forum warrior misnomer.

The only difference between then and now? Proc sets don't crit..
