V16 mats still rare as rocking horse poop in Orsinium compared to V14 mats.

Thanks for this thread, OP. I think what ZOS has done to crafting in IC and Orsinium is one of the worst decisions ZOS has made in a string of poor decisions.

Bottom line for me (and probably for most players) is that I just want to relax, play the game and have fun. I want to run dungeons, do my share of PvE and PvP, etc. I don't want to feel that I'm always behind trying to catch up. And I don't want to feel that as soon as I do get to a competitive place with a character, ZOS comes along and pulls the rug out from under me again. Give me a chance to enjoy what I've accomplished for awhile.

Sheesh!!!! There have been WAY too many fundamental changes to this game, WAY TOO FAST, for my comfort and enjoyment level. Slamming crafters and the game's economy this way is just beyond frustrating.

Just want to say that the term "progression" means to advance, to move forward, to increase, to build on that which has already been achieved. When you take away or reduce player advancement in order to accommodate changes to your game design, you are actually making it difficult, if not impossible for players to truly progress. What you're giving players is a perpetual game of catch up instead of genuine progression.

All these comments! I am getting tired of constantly feeling left behind because I can't grind as much as some other people. Okay, I don't mind the 100 and something mats for one piece, but at least make the mats easier obtainable.. I just can't... I got super excited, bought motifs, even started researching stuff so I could be able to craft my own *** now that Orsinium hits.. But now I am entirely discouraged. And tired on top of all that. I hope they will make the mats more accessible because I can't see this working out.. Ever.. And if ZOS does then I don't know if they have enough contact with their player base.. This post just made my day worse..

Well, that's definitely an improvement from live. I have everything maxed and my hireling sends me like 1 of the new mats.. :o It should help alleviate some of the rarity :# , but I reckon still a way to go.

Agree @Wolfenbelle . @Marrtha , I'm sorry the post made your day worse :/ . Hopefully, all the feedback will be read and ZOS could make some amendments :#

I completely agree with that. Even as a non crafter its a challenge to come by a full set of something and to change up my build from magic to stam. So in this case i spend probably well over 100k just doing that and getting some mediocre gear at thag wjth no rings or necklace. Its already a struggle ZOS give us old crafting back

Edit brain fart: you forgot to mention materials V15/V16 are account bound. Along with all the armor sets from dungeons. no more gold sinks.

people actually have to grind their own mats, and gear. which would be good, if they fixed the grouping before implementing such a system.

Tel Var stones cost of materials puts the material cost for crafting an armor item at the same price as the cost of buying a set piece. So I'm actually not Surprised that Orsinium is just as difficult for crafting.

I'm surprised they have made the grind such a time sink if they truly plan to bring out content quartely

I just jumped on pts for a few minutes and after a little wandering found one node for woodworking. Found 7 raw ruby so it doesn't feel that bad per node unless I was lucky. I did notice that items in containers and mob hide drops were both dropping only in v14 for me. I'll keep an eye on this to see what the rest of the drops are like for me, but its hard to play only with a trackpad.

If mats are account bound, then crafting is dead and ESO itself will be dead not long afterwards. Selling high level mats and armour sets was one of the best ways PvPer could make gold.

You will run off those on the fence waiting, hoping they will be able to craft V16 when Orsinium hits. This has me very discouraged, I agree good gear should be hard to get but don't we already have that with the RNG in dungeons? Crafting gear to do the dungeons should not take just as long, if not longer, to make than getting gear from said dungeon.

How? I work a 9-5 job and run PvP raids outside IC and I was able to get a full VR16 set (three staves, 6x light) within two weeks of gameplay. Yes it's slow and grindy but it's not that bad, you just go into the sewers with a group and kill as much trash as you can, ignore your stones and welp in PvP, focus on the item drops.

So I just went back to the PTS to get the blacksmith writ finished I couldn't complete yesterday. I was missing 3 refined ore yesterday, and still had three unrefined ore left in my inventory. Took me only 40 minutes to find 3 nodes to get 10 unrefined ore so I could refine once more

Look at those awesome writ rewards:

You should make a poll about this, some people seemed to have more luck getting a change because they started a poll that the results were almost unanimous. Judging from the comments of your argument and your amazing evidence to back it up it should do very well.

Interesting thread. I agree with nearly all of the sentiments expressed so far. In fact, after 45 comments, I did not notice a single person in support of these changes.

The change to writs is particularly terrible. They're an unpleasant chore on Live now; there is no way I'll be doing these with the next update. It will be interesting to see what this does to the economy for glass motif fragments and gold tempers. Writs are currently the source for about 50% of my gold tempers.

I am glad that the nodes will drop v15/16 mats, but it sounds like the drop rate is so low that I'm better off farming IC.

I'll be really disappointed if this makes it into the next update. Decisions like this make the game less fun.

Also even with a lot of spare time on my hands yesterday and today I only completed 2 writs, far from the 6 I would have done on live

Crafted gear was always supposed to be your temporary alternative that you could use until you culd get the better gear from RNG in dungeons or from PvP. Now, it takes as much time to get one piece of crafted gear as it does for the dropped gear, and that's completely stupid. I am desperately trying to get my gear up to do ICP so I can get the better dropped gear from there, but after farming the crap out of mats since IC's launch, I still only have 2 V16 pieces of gear (not counting my 2 Agility weps and jewely) At this rate, maybe I will be able to run ICP and start getting my real gear by July....

That's just stupid. It was bad enough before getting crap rewards from the crafting writs, now they want you to grind for hours just to get more crap rewards? If Orsinium is released like this, then my writ days are over. It's obvious now that ZOS doesn't currently have anyone in house that really cares about crafting.

No problem at all @angelyn, though I do want to point out that the post that you quoted has an error from me, and I don't want to deceive or mislead anyone. I had started that post the night before saved it as a draft and then came back to finish it the next night. That's why it says something about in 3 hours these were my results... which is true for the first evening, but the second evening I was only out there for a little more than 2 hours.

I think part of the problem with node harvesting, is the terrain is unlike any other terrain in the game so far. You may very well be standing right next to a new V15-16 harvesting node, but it is 300 feet below you. So of the 200 or so nodes I found in my 5 hours of searching, I probably passed up twice as many that I didn't spot. To that I say, bravo, double the number of V15-16 nodes and things will probably be good.

Personally, I'm not surprised they made the v15-16 nodes rare in the new expansion. They want to keep those mats rare enough that people need to continue to grind them. For the most part the mats in the new zone are for people that don't want to pvp to be able to get the new mats, not some way that they can get them quicker than someone in IC. Why would people think they would just start gushing out the mats in the new expansion and completely negate the grind that they started in IC? My mind boggles.......

I wouldn't say I'm surprised about it either. Introducing huge grinds into the game seems to be ZOS' thing lately. However I definitely am suprised that they really expect you to do writs with the new mats. And that they didn't even care to improve writ rewards.

Moreover Kai Schober's post on the german forums suggests that they don't know writs require new mats now (what other dailies that require crafting materials could he possibly have been referring to? And how can they not know that writs have been updated?)? And that the ratio of old/new mats seems to be way off too.

The whole set up of the VR15-VR16 grind for mats makes me worry about what it is they want to do to 'alleviate' our grind issues.

F2P games typically do this so that they can introduce specific items to their Microtransaction Store that will drive up sales. Star Trek Onlines Crafting System with their R&D Boxes in the C-Store for example. There is a lot of things that make their Crafting System different ESOs. But the demand for mats is so high in that game that people turn to their C-Store for the boxes to alleviate the need for their RNG style Crafting System. Its quite possible that ZOS wants to make these mats hard to obtain so that when they think we are as frustrated as they want us. They can introduce their own Crafting Mats to the Store. Of course there will be a Firestorm on the Forums. But what everyone wont see is the hordes of players spending their Crowns on these Mats.

I hope Im wrong. But from what it sounds like theyre going in that direction. With the excuse that 'its for convenience'.
