The main benifit of a Destruction Staff (Resto staff is mandatory, seriously) is it's range, along with skills like Force Shock and Destructive Touch. Also, a Destruction Staff provides an additional 10% spell penetration, but this only applies to Destruction Staff abilities. This may be useful when up against players wearing Nirnhoned armor. In addition, it's pretty much the Nightblade's only source of elemental damage.

On the other hand, Dual Wield allows for an additional 260 Spell Damage, as well as 1 additional set bouns (So if you were to use Torug's Pact Swords for example, you can have up to 447 additional spell damage along with 5% extra damage). The downside is that you lack a ranged light attack, and your light/heavy attacks will hit like a wet noodle. In addition, none of the passives or skills other then Ruffian, Dual Wield Expert and Twin Blade and Blunt offers any benifit to you.

Both the Destruction Staff and Twinned Swords have their benefits, so it's really up to you what style do you prefer.

This one hails from far Singapore, excuse this one for his high pings. He also apologizes for any formatting/spelling errors, as he tends to answer using a mobile device.

Insanity is the price of Knowledge. Herma-Mora and Sheogorath, this one bows before thee.

This one does not advocate for any class to be nerfed. There are far deeper underlying issues then a simple "Class Imbalance". The Champion System is the problem. Not classes.

Block-Casting (What you are most likely doing) is going to get gutted for your style of build due to 1.7 changes to stamina regen while blocking. You will now regenerate exactly 0 stamina while blocking, and since you are blocking without a shield + in light armor, your stamina is going to run dry in seconds. You may need to re-think your style of play.

I run the same style. It is very effective and fun. I don't need to block and I save my stamina for dodge rolls prior to cloak.

Oh. I misinterpreted the phrasing of your other post.

Usually people who say that are the 24/7 perma-block casters. That's why I assumed that you were block casting. My apologies.

Honestly there is no debate. As stated above a proven winner for Magicka NB for s while has been dw/resto staff.

The only debate is if a staff suites your play style more.

DW is the clear winner for a magicka NB. We have so many ways to close a gap, and do it while hidden it's not even funny.

    Here since Beta.

Characters: All of them, both Stamina and Magicka.

It's tough OP. The question is will you staff heavy/light attacks make up for you loss of spell power. I recommend you try both.
