Detection Potions

So, I need to use a specific cookie-cutter build in order to win? My skill at my class concept doesn't count? Cloak is used to confuse the enemy, to escape, to have something unique to the night blade class.

Destro/Resto is not the answer (not sure if that's your build or not) - regardless, I enjoy using cloak and the abilities that create synergies (i.e., conceal / surprise).

Regardless, it's a class ability that is entirely nullified - if DK GDB or Sorc ward reduced to nothing with use use of a potion we would hear QQ's for months.
    Let fate be your guide.

I say stealth should work differently for PvP.

Stealth = remove name / alliance tag, but still visible player

It is so off that 24 knight's in shiny armor can disappear in an open field

Real "stealthers" are those who can blend in with environment. hiding behind a rock or tree. Not sitting in the middle of the road waiting for someone to walk by.

Only NB's cloak or invisibility potions should be the invisibility option.

"I am a nightblade. Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Cloak is so ridiculous right now, even with a detect potion up. Go fight Saber Ali's night blade and you will see how 99% of night blades just play there class wrong. Hell even the noobie NB 's are hard as hell to keep up with with a detect pot up and bolt escape. These pots need to be in the game, sorry.

    Destro/Resto NBs are legit.

I've started playing my nightblade Full time now, and like I said before.. While 40 seconds is a lot those options are the only thing that keeps stealth balanced in this game right now, without pots you'd end up with something silly like the thief from guild wars 2 stealthing system. You also have to remember there is a disadvantage to using those pots, if you use one you can't use a tri pot for another 45 seconds... And if you are a stamina user the pots are also pretty useless except for detect.

Thanks for opening this discussion. Detection potions are completely infuriating! All it takes is the Q button, and the single most important survival skill I have is rendered useless for 31 seconds. As @Sharee said, maybe it would be ok if we also had an anti-bolt-escape potion, an anti-hardened-ward potion, or an anti-heal potion, etc.

FYI, there are already plenty of counters to cloak without detection potions. Here is a partial list of the skills which can (in one way or another) break cloak:

Fear, Impulse, Drain Power, Steel Tornado, Arrow Spray, Cleave, Magicka Detonation, Talons, Caltrops, Solar Barrage, Streak, Velocious Curse, Revealing Flare, Path of Darkness, Wall of Elements, Fiery Breath, Biting Jabs, Mark Target.......... and the list goes on and on and on.

Furthermore, it often still says *hidden* when you activate dark cloak and are detected by potions, just to add insult to massive, gamebreaking injury.

    Why? :(

    I'm back!

The opportunity cost of not being able to use tripots is huge. It's very hard to survive nb's damage without the extra regens, and I can never use detect potions against good nbs that like to fight. Even with random gankers, it's usually necessary to sip a tripot just to survive the initial burst.

I find detect pots only useful against people who rely solely on stealth, who unload their burst and if that fails, just go hiding to regen full to try again. Some time ago I was out of pots and had very annoying 10 minute walk to nearest friendly resource when this nb kept attacking me every 30 sec, I think I managed to hit him once before he disappeared each time. Without detect pots, there's no counterplay against this type of play.

Completely agree. I attack from stealth on occasion, anyone who has fought me knows this, but also ready to completely change that up when needed if the quick stealth reprieve isn't an option because of detect pots. And I'm always happy to kill my fellow NB who don't use more flexible builds and just clutch their shadowy fist futilely 15 times in a row as they die with my detect pot going.
