Why is this game getting so much hate?

This is the kind of player who wants to hook it up to their 50 inch giant flat screens hooked up to their stereo system, kick back on a comfy sofa with a game pad in their hands.

I do that with my computer and my giant 57 inch tv screen and couch, works nicely and because it's a computer (i7 2600k @4.6GHz and a gtx780sc acx etc) is much more powerful than a console.

No console is needed to bring a game into your lounge, it's easily done with your computer (with a good graphics card and a modern tv, and a good receiver) and HDMI cables.

It's really only a matter of time before more people start doing this, and consoles go the way of dinosaurs.

I am not an investor, I am a customer, I don't pay money to wait for them to fix all the bugs, exploits, and broken mechanics. I pay money to play a product that is fun and works correctly. And that isnt this game and the bugs, exploits and broken mechanics are the #1 reason i havent played much at all this whole weekend. I know there is no game that is perfect without any bugs but this is the worst I have seen in a decade of playing MMOs.

This game is fun and it plays correctly, Zenimax cannot cater to your combat needs as everyone has a different opinion. They cannot make the game balanced/fair for everyones tastes, they can try and fail, but that's it, you need to accept this, and the fact you say you have MMO experience just raises this further. Their is not one game on the market that is perfect and appeals to everyone, so how is 'broken mechanics' a viable rant?
    Most people are complaining because:
    • 50% of the base classes are not wanted for high end content (because they are subpar)
    • stamina based builds are a joke compared to magicka based builds (that adds another decent % to the unwanted)
    • tanks do better in light armor than they do in heavy
    • bots everywhere
    • bugs everywhere
    • no trade chat
    • horrible guild store interface(or no AH, take your pick)
    • forced to grind quests at vet levels

And the list goes on, there is plenty to complain about. That's not saying that there aren't good things as well, but you can only polish a turd for so long, and all that.

    Personal opinion.

You're looking at the bad, instead of the good. It's this that you refuse to even look at, instead bad things are clouding your mind.

I generally agree with your OP and your attitude of good vs. bad, but those things above are absolutely not personal opinions. Those are simply facts that anyone who has used the groupfinder to try to do trials or vet dungeons knows to be true.

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

MMOs usually break down into three groups - You have your RP players who quest and group and want to do all of the content,,enjoy the lore, like to look at the images..ooh and ahh at the bosses, the daedric lords etc. You have your need for speed pvper, those who want to get to vr12 as fast as possible to pvp, min mab builds and probably quit the game in a month or two when either they get bored or a patch breaks their exploits or what ever. Then you have a mix of 1 and 2 people who like to quest, maybe don't care about getting to higher levels faster, pvp occasionally etc...90% of the meat and potatoes is going to come from group 1. These are die hards and will generally say really nice things and try to point out glitches in a positive way. Group #2 tends to be a lot more harsh in response to changes, bugs, etc....but Group # 3. If you can keep that group entertained and engaged then you have a winner. The silent majority who will pay month after month and make your balance sheet black.

So when it comes to fixes, bugs and patches - who do you try to fix first?

As a former DAoC player I was here for the PvP and only the PvP. I do not care about TES single player games, or lore. I came for the three faction fight. Given how badly managed the game is, and PvP in particular, I have cancelled my account. ZOS is clearly out of their depth here and simply do not understand MMOs, not to mention their entire quality control system is broken. Frankly, speaking as someone who works that side of the aerospace industry, someone of there needs to be replaced and the entire quality management system needs to be overhauled. At this point I have NO faith in their abilities to correct the game, none whatsoever.

Oh the classic "we cannot group up", I wonder how me and all those other people manage to play in group. I'll tell them they are doing it wrong
Are you able to remain grouped in the main story instances, the Fighters Guild instances, or the Mages Guild instances?

If you've found a way to crack that nut, I'm all ears.

If I find a way to remain grouped in SOLO only instances I'll let you know.....

In some respect, every new game is going to have gamers disagreeing with something. Balance issues are something worth being discussed, and will always be discussed in an ongoing manner. They really have to be. In a system where the rules of the game constantly change (as is often the case of MMO's) feedback is necessary. I do agree that there needs to be courtesy and balance though. I enjoy the game, and any gripes I've stated don't halt my enjoyment, if they did I wouldn't be playing. Take all of what was just said, and throw in a competitive environment like Cyrodil and people are going to have all kinds of comments.

    Educate yourself!

Don't lurk in the forums, read the forums!

Play the game, play a broken NB or Templar in VR content.

Endure the obscenity of OP Sorcs and DKs face rolling VR content and being dominant in Craglorn Trials while NBs and Templars are left kicking rocks on the edge of the ESO sandbox.

Establish a friends list and join guilds. Then observe the decline in player base activity.

See if you're not livid with every months subscription fee you contribute to Zenimax revenue without evidence of game stability, a workable solution to bots and class balance.

Why so much hate on the forums? Because the people who enjoy it are playing the game and probably don't go on the forums all that much except to read the patch notes or developper announcements. Or, like me, they're at work and can't play at the moment.
I also enjoy reading all the "doom and gloom" posts that are pretty much copy-pasted for every. Single. MMO. Ever.

A big part of the problem is that amidst all of the issues the game has, we've heard nothing from the actual developers acknowledging that there are problems and communication something about what they planning to address them. Nothing. Just more sales pitches for new content and community liaisons popping up every now and then like Squealer to assure us that "Everything is fine, comrades".

If you click the "developper tracker" button, you can see every response ZOS has posted. They've posted several dozen responses regarding the issues, particularly about the Craglorn patch debacle.

    For example:
    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/102794/fixes-in-progress-patch-1-1-2/p1

They've acknowledged the problems and responded quite a bit.

I just got this sweet coffee table that lifts open, so I've been playing with my laptop on that and kicking back on my couch. Yes, during more intense fights I sit up and lean in a bit more, but overall it's a pretty relaxed way to play.

This I completely agree with. Quality control must be virtually non-existent for 1.1.2 to have hit live servers. From what I've heard the major issues were identified and reported, but someone made the decision to push that broken patch anyway.

I don't often hope for people to lose their jobs, but I hope whoever made that decision is at least removed from the role that gave them the authority to make such a terrible decision.

There is more bad than good in ESO.

The people that are still around are simply trying to coach Zenimax through what they did right and what they did wrong. But it's like trying to coach an athlete who won't listen.

Don't forget who has the power. The consumer.

The consumer decides what succeeds and what fails. Companies that don't listen, tend to file for Chapter 11.

Don't even get me started on cooldowns. When ZOS announced that there would be no gcd in the game last year, people were wondering how the heck they were going to do that in an mmo.

To OP - because there are many bugs and very little communication from the owners about accepting that bugs exist or how & when they plan to fix them.

In an offline game one can shelve it and do something else until patches come out.

In an online game you are still being asked to pay a monthly fee for something that doesn't work right.

Oddly that seems bad to some of us which is why my 6 month sub has just dropped to a 1 month.
