Yes! I see funny things, and I can't show that I appreciate their humor. Please bring back the LOL reaction.

Of course, we all know it wasn't being used to appreciate humor
That said, it would save the Mods a lot of time editing out people's posts.

IT was being abused to high heaven as a negative reaction, basically a downvote button, instead of being used for what it was meant for. everything lol was MEANT to be used for can basically be done with agree

if they actually HAD a downvote feature, then that would be one thing, but abusing another reaction type instead is stupid.

Care to elaborate? Explain what you're talking about to those who haven't been around long?

in beta and i think early release, there used to be a 4th reaction button called LOL, that was MEANT to be used as a button for funny posts, instead it got used basically as a downvote button, so they got rid of it because people were not using the feature as it was intended and instead as an insult.

The LOL option was previously abused as a snarky response. Despite efforts to make one of the remaining 3 buttons the replacement as the new snarky disagree button, it never took hold.

I won't say that the use of LOL in that manner bothered me, but since the remaining 3 options adequately cover the readers response (and that 'awesome' could be considered an appropriate response to a funny post ... enough so that a proper LOL could be considered redundant) I don't feel like LOL is needed. I am of the opinion that most efforts for it to return are just attempts to get a snarky disagree button back.

    @PKMN12
I see your point in that case, if it was used as a "Disagree" button by forum veterans. Some people would likely vote for it thinking it was actually for a LOL reaction (forum new comers), others would vote for it thinking it was supposed to be forum slang for "Disagree".

Maybe they should add both a "LOL" and a "Disagree" button? Frankly a formal "Disagree" button would be useful in some cases.

The LOL tag was sometimes abused, which is why it was removed. For example, people would LOL posts they disagreed with, and on some occasions would systematically LOL all recent posts by a particular member. While far from heavy trolling, it was misused like this with a fair frequency, and occasionally contributed to escalating tensions or other problems. These issues eventually outweighed any good it was contributing, which is why we decided to remove it.

At the moment we aren't considering a return of the LOL flag. However, we certainly don't mind discussion of bringing it back.

You just confirmed exactly what @PKMN12 said, thank you. I shall share my opinion with you too: Why not add a "LOL" button again, but along with a new actual "Disagree" button? If one member is found abusing the "Disagree" button, maybe there can be some method to ban them from using any of those buttons? Let's face it, if they'll abuse a "Disagree" button, they'll likely abuse "Agree", "Insightful", or "Awesome" too.

The reason they removed it was because of trolling where a player would post something serious and another player would respond with a LOL, just to get a response from the OP. In the age of Internet bullying, I think LOL was removed to prevent a player from getting offended. I personally don't care one way or another.

Before they bring back the LOL button or anything else, they really need to add a DISAGREE button.

Until they do this, there is always going to be confusion and mayhem on the forums because of people re-purposing other buttons to express disagreement. For example, I get "Awesome" clicks all the time, but does it really mean people think I'm awesome, or are they just [snip] with me? LOL, without a "Disagree" button as an option, I'll never know!

Without a disagree button, a person who disagrees is more likely to partake in a discussion as opposed to simply clicking "disagree" and move on. This behavior is fine for people who agree, since no difference in opinion exists.

Even in threads that encouraged players to use insightful as the new disagree, it was actively shot down. You're free to use it however you like, but I doubt many use it that way.

Well, obviously you guys could tell if someone was forum stalking another simply to LOL all their posts, so perhaps handle that with the same measures as "trolling"?

I did usually use LOL for posts that made me laugh, however sometimes I laughed because it was ridiculous too. Both are valid LOL's in my opinion. A disagree button wouldn't necessarily be the worst thing (assuming again forum stalking was controlled) Not everyone wants to explain the reasons Sorc's are not OP on the 100th nerf Sorc thread for example...

If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

We actually had the Disagree flag for much of beta, but it was abused in a similar manner. It's less taunting to "Disagree" a post than to "LOL" it, but using it on all of someone's posts was still an issue. We considered bringing it back as part of the overhaul, but eventually decided against it.

@ZOS_AlanG - Why not add my idea of a "Vote ban" system for the moderators and above then? If someone is shown to abuse the vote system, prevent them from voting for any option at all on any post at all. If they abuse the Disagree or LOL buttons, they'd surely abuse the other three voting options as well.
