Should the ESO forums bring back the LOL reactions?

Did people abuse the LOL button? Without doubt. Did EVERYONE abuse it? No. So why remove the option for everyone because of the actions of some? Besides, removing the LOL button hasn't really change the behavior that caused it's removal. The first thing people did was decide 'insightful' was the new LOL. And did it really matter that much if people did abuse it? It was a number on a screen, no one was hurt. If feelings got hurt, that sounds like a personal issue way beyond the scope of the forum. It is just not the same using the awesome button for a truly funny post. Bring back the LOL!

The insightful button can never be the new lol.

It's a positive word so in their attempts to demean a post with it they instead give it a compliment. So in the end the joke is on them if that's what they are intending.

It's also not about having your feelings hurt or being sensitive. The button had just devolved into a childish game of lol'ing each other's posts out of spite. So this forum is better off without it.

Just use the awesome tag to compliment a witty post as someone else suggested. That works just as good and sends a clearer message. There is just no good reason to bring back the lol tag.

I really don't see the harm in having disagree and lol buttons, so what if people hand them out liberally? If they had both options, maybe lol would be used more as intended and less as a substitute for a disagree button. I don't understand this care-bear community, where people can't handle negative feedback.

Negative buttons like disagree or lol are not used as a way to provide feedback. They turn into a retaliatory option where people just use them out of spite to target posters who have annoyed them.

Rather they agree or disagree with the post becomes irrelevant in the end and has nothing to do with why these types of buttons are actually being used. That's why ZOS removed them and I agree with the decision.

If you want to disagree with a post you still can. Quote the post and then explain why you disagree with it.

YES! I wish I could give appreciation for people's humor.

Yes! I see funny things, and I can't show that I appreciate their humor. Please bring back the LOL reaction.

Oh, and bring back the funny (and cute) cat and kitten pictures.

LOL (Instead of inserting an unnecessary reply like this, I could have just clicked the LOL button if there was one.)

i posted many suggestions on the forum (not too many either) and sometimes i just got a NO, stupid suggestion, but without more explanation; I also have the feeling that many players say no , no, no for any suggestion for improvement , but don't have other suggestions to make and solutions; i have the feeling some are just traditional Elder Scrolls fans that don't know other MMO's other than this one, so they can't compare...

If you use only LOL to a suggestion from a constructively writing player , it's a cheap mockery and rather destructive behavior on the long run...

I know some players write a lot of good things and write well written texts and spent quite a lot of time and effort in compiling the post (not like me; i just write like brainstorming)

    and it's not so fair...

my opinion is: many , many things can be done in any MMO , but it takes time and a "vision" maybe..

i understand that people laugh from other things etc... and some things just cause this reaction of laughing...and this is absolutely ok :)

but if someone is serious and concerned, it's not nice...especially to constructively writing players...

    well, that's my 2 cents... .. are you laughing ??! :)

The LOL was ambiguous, we need two alternatives to express those: amusing and ridiculius, those were the two different meanings people used LOL for.
