Quick Cast Ground Abilities

I absolutely can not find this in the patch notes, so I thought I would share. There's a new option in settings that allows you to turn on or off quick cast (so ground abilities all work like Nova with one click, or all work like shards with 2 clicks, or auto which each ability picks it's default)

ZOS. I had mean things to say when Nova started auto casting... I'm sorry. Now that I am used to it I realized it is WAY more efficient to do all my ground abilities this way. Thank you.

I'm also lovin it for healing springs. Can't remember what section but it's called quick cast ground abilities with a drop down box beside it.

I found this not working so well with Bow's 'Arrow Barrage'... it always seemed to cast too far in front of the intended target when in range and misses them completely . I had to go back to the manual selection.

I see that being an issue with some skills actually. Quick casting would be very hit and miss but would be useful in pressure situations.

Do you run an ability on live that currently works like auto cast @ADarklore ? I find my Nova always was a little farther than you thought it should be, but over time I have just naturally compensated for this. Although if you are already used to an ability that works like that, then I imagine it's a bug.

No... typically the only 'targeted' AoE's I have run are Arrow Barrage and Liquid Lightning. It's just odd that when you are clearly within range, clearly highlighted the target, that the targeting system still puts the AoE out in front of the target, you would think it would CENTER on the target.

I didn't do a LOT of testing, but after several tries with it not targeting accurately I just switched it off and went back to manual selecting. I think I would actually prefer the manual selecting anyway, especially with Arrow Barrage, as it allows me to put a 'leading edge' on the targeting circle so that I compensate for enemies running towards me after they start getting pelted with arrows.

YES, I noticed this too and I am incredibly happy. Ninja buffs are the best kind of buffs

When I saw it I didn't realize it was a new feature. I thought it had always been there and I had just missed it. Quickcast is actually a lot better for Liquid Lightning, so I am pleased with this addition.

Someone in a guild mentioned they didn't think it was new with but I went back to live and could not find it

Like the old cinder storm, I want it back so bad. Whether it gets the miss chance or not it was so much more useful in PVP to hit it once and it just cast at your feet

I'm a bit surprised this hasn't gathered more attention. In my opinion one of the best changes in this patch, and a huge buff to any ground targeted AoE, which felt very clunky before.


There is room for improvement however.

It's not a big deal, but it'd be great if you could see the circle around the area where the ability will land before you let go of the button. You can usually predict where it'll land based on camera angle even without that, but eh - little things

After having used this for a bit on the PTS, this is the one feature that I miss the most when I go back to Live.

For me this is actually pretty big, finally being able to get the exact placement on Negate makes it a lot easier to catch all zoning effects.
