ZOS Fix The Imperial City Dungeon Drop Rates.

Alright for starters yes I know this is end game gear from White Gold Tower and Imperial City Prison, and I know it should be a difficult process to be had, but right now this is completely absurd what the drop rates are, I have been farming both Normal and Veteran to compare the drop rates, I did about 50 runs of both White Gold Tower and Imperial City Prison on Normal Mode, I got no drops at all so then my group switched to Veteran. We farmed until we got enough trophies for the vaults, used them, and the only person who got decent gear was me. Not to mention the only thing during those runs that dropped from the bosses were 1 piece of Imperium Belt and Belt of Scathing Mage. The other guys got pretty much nothing. So we kept going until we got 2 more sets of Trophies, still barely any loot the only thing I got from another 30 odd runs per dungeon was a Jerkin of Overwhelming.

These dungeons take about ~40 minutes to complete on Veteran, each dungeon drops 2 sets of Light, Medium and Heavy and they come in random traits. The trophies are 150 needed to open a vault which drops ONE PIECE OF GEAR, the bosses drop nothing but generic named dungeon loot and the Trophies are bound, so why do they drop 1 piece of gear is a bad mistake in my opinion, they have the right to very well drop more than 1 set item which may or may not be the right piece with a random trait.

So all in all, what exactly is the point of farming these dungeons with this massive absurd time sink which by the looks of it is going to take several months to complete a gear set up and on top of that, these dungeons are of no value, they are not hard to complete, they have no leaderboards there is honestly no reason to go back into them like there was for Trials and VDSA, the replay value is little to none with drop rates like these it's enough to make people want to quit playing the game.

I was hoping to give some honest feedback as I highly doubt there are many players like the group of 4 I am running with farming these dungeons, I have heard a lot of people saying the drop rates are really low and I just wanted to confirm how much of a grind it actually is and not many have opened the dungeon vaults yet to give feedback, but I hope you guys look into adding more item pieces to them, it would make me more sane doing this grind knowing I have a chance of getting loot from the dungeon and then knowing I will for certainty get 5 pieces of loot and 1 or 2 may be useful that isn't a Lost Hatchet, Subjugation Fist or a Frostbite Staff.

    I think I made the right decision in going for 100% crafted sets on all my chars, no matter if that gimps me beyond reason. And thank you ZOS for giving me one more reason to never do the group dungeon thing and stick to PvP. I don't have the time for both anyways.

    Add in more items to the dungeon trophy vaults, maybe 5 items because 1 item for collecting 150 bound trophy items which take quite a hefty time to farm and they come bind on pickup. Boosting the chest item loot from trophy vaults and the drop rates would make this a lot more fun.

    Yeah it does, Veteran drops VR16 loot from the trash too, unless you got time to farm 15 hours a day for 3 months I wouldn't bother trying to get it.

    So much of this. I was ecstatic when IC got announced, and put countless hours into PTS simply enjoying it despite all the crashes and bugs. I had exhausted so many different build options in 1.6 and found what I liked the most and had my fun with it. Then all of these new sets hit and I'm dying to test them, so naturally I've been farming hard. I've spent at least 6 hours every day since it went live in these dungeons clearing them, yearning for some Essence Thief. Not a single piece. Over 5 complete clears of vWGT and over 50 resets going through the first couple of bosses, and I have FIVE set pieces to show for it. And one of them was from a trophy vault. This is just outrageous, no grind should be this messed up from RNG. I can see not getting pieces I want every run, I'm okay with it, hell I expect it to happen. But to do entire clears of the HARDEST content in game, with nothing but some white decon trash and a handful of trophies that are going to just unlock more disappointment? Unacceptable. PLEASE ZoS, look into this and do something about it. I understand you want players to have goals and to have a gear chase so they have something to do till Orsinium, but be reasonable. How is okay that I loot 50 "Lost" Hatches and Subjugation fists that lack any and all uniqueness, but getting a set piece with a undesired trait is too much to ask? I hope you've been monitoring this in the shadows are are going to do something about it soon, because for the first time since I've played I'm considering quitting. I lasted through the past eight months of no new content to get here, so that should be telling you something.

    I was told that the developers have acknowledged that the drop rate is bugged in the new 2 dungeons for the new sets. I'm sorry but I do not have a source for this. Even after the drop rate is fixed, which it never was in the past for Signets of the Warlock and many other items, then we run into the problem of traits again.

    The developers have known for a long time that players are sick of randomly rolled traits. They did limit some traits, but lo and behold there have been new vault items that have came with training of all things (Probably from veteran dungeons). I suppose we shouldn't expect developers, who are informed by Diablo 3, to understand why such itemization is frustrating.

    Yeah lol, I have been farming this for for ~5 days for average 8 hours a day, in and out for quite some time with some top players to make even more time efficient, and we have hardly gotten anything at all

    No, I don't think items should be extremely hard to obtain, but the developers might not intend for everyone to get the new sets.

    That's why I'm giving ways to make it more bearable at the moment the drops are at a rate of 0.25%, tresure vaults should have much more items in them than one piece, maybe 3 or 5.

    Trust me, once you run them you will agree.

    When I started running some numbers in my head, trying to figure out how long it might take to get a full set, then figuring out how long to get a full set that had the traits I wanted, I basically gave up. I'll go with another crafted set that allows me to put the exact traits on it that I want. With those proper traits I overcome some of the loss of using a lesser set. Sure, in theory I could have the perfect Scathing Mage or Overwhelming set but mathematically, that just isn't happening any time this millennium. Random traits on rare drop, bound on pickup gear is a bad idea. Take out one of the three factors. Either up the rate of acquisition, drop the bind on pickup status or make the traits fixed, even if they're not optimal.

    We asked for a token system for a long time, reducing the RNG influence on drop mechanics. They listened to the first part of the plea, but not the second part. We have tokens now, but they managed a system that still relies completely on RNG, combining the worst of both worlds.

    In my opinion, the vaults opened for tokens should contain 3 items, two of which are from sets that conform to the player's build (by evaluating armor types: those that wear 5 medium get medium sets, those that wear five light get light armor sets, those that wear 5 heavy get heavy armor sets) and one that should be randomized from all other sets. Furthermore, these should contain either only divine (small pieces) and infused (large pieces) traits or have an unset trait that can be chosen by the player upon looting.

    Those that drop from monsters directly can be randomized traits as before, but there needs to be a mechanic that will stop any kind of RNG influence other than "which of the sets good for my build will drop today". In order to "balance" things, double the number of tokens required.

    I am aware that those that use other traits and appreciate them will get the stick with that system, but still have the option to farm for those with regular drops (once that has been fixed). Also, they will have a decent "stand-in" for the time they are farming for the perfect one. Those that run off-the-beaten-path builds (like 5-piece heavy healers) may have to "redress" before looting the vault chest in order to get the right drops, but that is a small inconvenience. The random trait shite needs to go.

    Also, the fact that the bought sets always come in "impenetrable" (which is a nice trait, but honestly not the one I will go for) instead of a more generally useful one, is a disgrace for those that do not intend to go the PvP route. For the PvE players that just want Set A to complement their build while doing dungeons and trials are stuck with either endlessly farming TV stones (and hoping for lucky draws on the containers) or with a completely unusable trait, exactly the wrong way to go at it.

    I get that ZOS needs to create an incentive for people to actually experience new content, but if you force players, you just aggravate them. Implementing a token system and then making loot even more random than before at the same time is seriously a bad design decision.

    I do agree with this, it would be awesome for this type of thing to happen but I doubt it, about the trait generator/smart system.
    I would also like for dungeon sets to be purchased from those Telvar boxes and such, seeing as Willpower etc drop from dungeon end bosses. Would just make the fairness even.

    That's disheartening. I only did the normal IC dungeons so far, but I was looking forward to improve my performance in the veteran versions to the point where I could farm for trophies and drops.
    During my WGT run, I got two pieces of Spell Power Cure (VR15), but if this is the exception to the rule, I'd rather not invest too much time in the new dungeons after I get the Lord Warden helmet.

    i agree. the grind is just frustrating. random set, random piece, (random trait) makes for a a huge grind anyways. given the current drop rates and BoP (what are you gonna do with your 3rd set of pants if you need something else?), the grind might become 1) too large for even PvE fanatics to do and especially 2) inferior to using the time to just grind CP somewhere. after all, the dungeon still gives terrible XP.

    I also agree with ~5-6 full vet runs being required for a single trophy vault open being too much. however, i personally find the dungeo boss ratio even more frustrating.

    maybe the whole thing could be helped if AT LEASE trophy turn-ins would offer some form of choice. maybe not of the perfect item but for either a certain set or a certain equipment slot. e.g. a "boots chest" or a "spell power cure chest". Whatever you like.

    I am still using my vr14 pre IC gear....why? Because:

    A) I still obliterate people with it

    B ) I have no reason to switch to the new pvp gear as that gear is completely GARBAGE

    C) I hate being forced to pve while being forced to the will of RNG....

    D) see reason C because the new PVE gear TRUMPS the new pvp sets (this was a pvp update nice
    trollolololol ZoS)

    E) Because I dont want to spend 10k stones on a RANDOM trait chance though I can have the piece I need but not the trait for a piece of gear that is junk to begin with (no thanks on all of that) when the vr15 one is only 800 stones.....

    Seriously, @ZOS_BrianWheeler how the flip can you go from 800 stones to TEN FREAKING THOUSAND.......... for once piece of RNG...... I am convinced you guys have zero clue what you are doing when it comes to "fun ways to keep players in IC"

    Dont get me wrong, IC is fun...the rewards are not nor is the reward system (i.e. vr15 is 800 vr16 is TEN FREAKING THOUSAND) or the pvp gear. Put the PVE gear in PVP and the PVP gear into PVE.
