    @ZOS_Finn The previous years' chapter celebration events included double drops for the trial as something to reward the group-PvE crowd. The omission of trial double drops makes this event feel much worse than previous years' chapter events for this segment of the player base.

    One of my raid leads had mentioned double drops coming back for the phase 2 breach, but I couldn't find mention anywhere. That is kind of why I asked, usually there is an event as mentioned. I guess there could be unannounced things coming. vOC is kind of a pain to group finder, so I had just been running normal coffer runs for the motif.

    In regard to the event quest item drops, while we did push a hotfix last week to make Vitrified Souls more easily available by adding them to Dark Anchors, we are making some adjustments to the other event quest item drop rates for Phases 2 and 3, so your time spent doing the event quests feels better. This hotfix is going out this afternoon (Oct. 21.)

    Thank you, happy to see those hotfixes get deployed.
    We've also heard from you that the event rewards in Phase 1 don't feel as rewarding as you would like. We are increasing the drop rates for the Writhing Wall Furnishings in a hotfix this afternoon (Oct. 21). The change will be immediate once the hotfix is live. As a reminder, Wormwrithe weapon outfit Style pages and Caltrops, Bone Skill Style fragments become available as drops in Phase 2 as well.
    • In regard to the feedback about the blue reward coffers, we are unable to make changes to the contents or drop rates of items within them, but we will keep all your feedback in mind as we design rewards for future events. For a little added context, while drop rates are something we can generally adjust via hotfixes, there are a limited number of hotfixes we can push between incremental patches and updates, and each in-game adjustment counts towards that limit.

    I appreciate the added context, I really do. But, I'm not sure why you guys honed in on the furnishings as the only hotfix if there's a limit. So much of the feedback was around the blue boxes being unrewarding. I feel like that was the core issue of this whole thread. This feels like such a missed opportunity. Why not just package them both together? This move just ensures the event sees lower engagement.
    Related to rewards feedback, we are also making some beneficial adjustments to Writhing Fortress boss rewards and drop rates in Phase 3 based on your Phase 1 and PTS feedback. Specifically, the Writhing Fortress bosses will award the equivalent of a Glorious Writhing Reward Coffer (gold.) Please note that players may still obtain only one Stirk Fellowship motif page per day from any source.

    I want to hear from ZOS, why are you restricting the motif drops to once a day? Again, moves like this ensure that I do one daily and log off. Is that what you guys want? Is that the intended design here? People do the events to get new styles, not sure why you don't just lean into that. The golden coffers should continue with the guaranteed drops, but the blue boxes should have at least some kind of chance to get that motif. Why hold out?
    Your feedback on the general fun factor of this event and the daily quests and event quest item drops is also heard loud and clear, and is valuable as we plan out future events.

    I think a lot more care and planning needs to go into these events. Especially with messaging like "once-in-a-lifetime".

    Look, the last year or two have been really rough for ESO. The anniversary events were plagued with major issues - the vMA drops, the crafters celebration transmute debacle, the PTS-connected-to-live, and the Staff of Worms debacles. Streamers have largely left. The NA expo was cancelled. I could go on.

    Point is, the game's in a sensitive place, these moments are important. If people go to PTS and call out issues, fix them and then there. If you guys can roll out hotfixes like you have been, which really is appreciated, then I don't see why issues can't be fixed earlier.
    Lastly, we've seen some questions about what activities you can expect to see during Phases 1, 2, and 3, and if all event phases will be the same as Phase 1. Here's a breakdown:

    Phase 1: Supply & Defense
    • Daily Quests: Vitrified Souls, Supplies, Siege Camp Defense, and Crafting (6)
    • Skirmishes at the Siege Camps
    • Delves and Public Dungeons across Tamriel are taken over by the Worm Cult forces
    • The latest installment of the Seasons of the Worm Cult story becomes available in Solstice
    **Spoilers ahead! Don’t read beyond this point if you want to be surprised about Phases 2 and 3.**

    Phase 2: The Assault Begins
    • Daily Quests: Vitrified Souls, Supplies, Siege Camp Defense, and Crafting (12 – 6 new ones added that include Alchemy, Provisioning, and Enchanting)
    • Siege Camp attacks will be more frequent and deadly as the forces from the Writhing Wall launch multiple attacks at once.
    • Continue battling the Worm Cult forces in Delves and Public Dungeons across Tamriel
    *The Daedra Ghishzor, a powerful Maldrith, appears as a world boss on Solstice when the servers are patched up with Update 48 content.

    Phase 3: Fall of the Writhing Wall
    • Daily Quests: Vitrified Souls, Supplies, Siege Camp Defense, and Crafting (6 – the new ones added in Phase 2)
    • Siege Camp attacks continue with the same frequency and force as in Phase 2
    • Continue battling the Worm Cult forces in Delves and Public Dungeons across Tamriel
    • The Writhing Fortress opens for players
    *After Phase 3 concludes, the Eastern Solstice zone opens and the final installment of the Seasons of the Worm Cult story is available.


    My takeaway is that the worthwhile content isn't coming until Phase 2. Hopefully they're more fun than the current activities. Still, if you guys can't fix the blue boxes, the event's pretty much done for me.

    Unfortunately the lackluster or almost nonexistent rewards from the blue chests just means that there is no incentive to do more than just complete the first round of dailies for the gold rewards and then log off for the day?

    It’s takes less than ten minutes of effort but that’s where the new content ends for now.

    One could argue that the server competition is the only real reason to do continue past the gold chests, but why? The content unlocks regardless and the winning server gets a vanity title?

    It’s a shame there can’t be something further to encourage repeating the grind, but I guess that’s just how it’s going to work going forward.

    I have to say, this mentality is the problem. There should never be a hard cap stopping you from getting a drop. If you did the content to earn it, you should have an equal chance to get it. Does zos not remember how great the anniversary event used to be back when it was generous? People actually participated because there was a reasonable chance at getting something good. Now with these events I get my tickets and gold box then get out without bothering to earn any junk boxes.     Have to agree with this, limiting us to only one style page drop per day makes events only beneficial for multi-account players(who often only do this for sale purposes, not gameplay purposes). A better solution to this problem would be to have one forced style page drop per day, and a reasonable small chance of a second/third/etc. This basically keeps the droprate for the style pages roughly the same, unless you get really lucky. Yet it promotes participation in the event beyond the first style page drop, because you never know if you may get lucky.

    • We hear you that that the 12-player monster credit list cap is frustrating during events like this, where there is a higher than usual concentration of players going after event quest mobs. For future events, we are investigating if this is something we can raise.

    Or you could structure those quests completely differently. As Skinny Cheeks has pointed out, competing for drops from mobs just isn't in the spirit of co-operation that this event is about.

    Maybe players could get some kind of credit for damage done to suitable monsters. Maybe it could be that the Stirk Fellowship has acquired Vitreous Soul containers from smashed Soul Reapers and players have to fill them with 500,000 points of damage done to the right type of monsters.

    Or something else. Once you decide to do different, the options are endless.

    So it's basically the same fetch quests through phase 2 and 3 (+ a boss and week long dungeon instance)... Well here's hoping the rewards and drops are at least fixed.

    Glad we at least still get witches fest during it to break it up a bit :)

    Because they *can't* fix the boxes with a hotfix. The boxes are something built into the game with set rewards at set rates. They would need to completely give a new type of item or some crazy complicated coding to fix boxes. But boss drops? That they can easily tweak because it's just a % in the game. They don't have to actually roll out a game update to our files to fix boss drop rates. BOX drops rates is almost certainly an entirely different story. They COULD HAVE fixed it if they'd listened during PTS, they maybe COULD HAVE had time, but that time came and passed when it rolled to live. So right now, literally ALL THEY CAN DO is fiddle with boss % drop rates.

    They've lost touch with their players. When they actually listen to us, it's too late to make meaningful changes quickly. They are holding out because they're still living in the ESO gamer mindset of... 4 years ago? Maybe? This game is NOT that anymore. Heck, post-Covid, gaming and how we spend our money has changed vastly. They have struggled to adapt.

    I also greatly appreciate some communication and some changes. That said, I'm also incredibly disappointed by this "once-in-a-lifetime" event. Lackluster content, rewards, and honestly it even feels in some places like you're trying to PUNISH your players. It feels like you don't respect our time, do not want us to have fun, do not want to reward us (WHY do you care if we have a few extra non-combat pets? We'll STILL buy the crates, homes, and other high-value crown stuff... do you just not have any spare assets you haven't used that we can have?)

    Honestly, I just want to skip the rest of the phases and open Eastern Solstice. I want this awful event to be over so I can get the content I've already paid for. THIS EVENT ISN'T CONTENT.

    Thank you though @ZOS_JessicaFolsom for the increased furnishing drop rates, it is noticeable and I will be stocking up.

    Yes, though I have had them take many many chests to get them. They can also drop from the defense chests at the camps, the same as the Stirk motif.

    I'm on day 2 without a drop. I did 50ish yesterday and only did the 24 on my main today and had no drop. I've gotten the daily stirk ones just not the wormwrithe ones. This is very frustrating for a "guaranteed" drop.

    EDIT: did 6 of the armorer quests on a second toon and got it. At least I only missed one day lol.

    So far, I’ve only gotten three Wormwrithe style pages, and one of them was a duplicate, and I’ve been participating in the event every day. Stork Fellowship motif are a bit better, I have seven of those with only one being a duplicate.

    Will we be able to get Wormwrithe style pages from any source after the event is over or will they be gone for good? And will Stirk Fellowship motif pages continue to drop after the event since those dailies are supposed to be staying around?

    I don't know their software, but I would expect drop rates to be in a reference table that some webservice uses. While I can appreciate code freezes and scope locks might be a factor here, it really begs the question of why PTS exists if the scope is locked. That's where they really need to be more transparent about what's feasible with PTS and what's not.

    Man you guys will communicate about whatever you can (thank you for that) to not address the elephant in the room. Friday you guys said you were discussing the large community complaints of rewards dropping very infrequently, making the grind for this event unfun. You guys went out of your way to state people thought it was unrewarding because the meter wasn't moving fast, I don't know how you could be so wrong. I'm told I shouldn't assign malice and I'm trying to stick to that but your communication around every issue but that is weird. Is it your intention that rewards should be scarce in this event or not?

    We're working on getting you all an answer to the rewards question. I was hoping we'd have that for you today, but we need a bit more investigation in the morning to determine what is possible.

    While we do that, we'd like to ask a couple related questions for future event consideration. We've seen concerns about the rewards coffers drop rates and contents, and the Writhing Wall furnishings drop rates. While we are still investigating options, if we were able to increase the drop rate for the Writhing Wall furnishings, would that help ease some of the frustrations?

    For the rewards coffers, is the low drop rate for the more desirable items the biggest frustration, or are the items contained in the coffers not what you'd like to see? Or is it a combination of those two?

    The "more desirable items" being the ones below under "a low chance at" from the event article.
    Rewards from the coffers available from Vitrified Souls quests include:
    • A piece of gear from a Western Solstice set, with a chance of a second
    • A chance at a style item for the Fellowship of Stirk crafting style (one is guaranteed in Glorious coffers)
    • A low chance at one of the following items (one is guaranteed in Glorious coffers)
      • A page of a Wormwrithe armor outfit Style
      • A page of a Wormwrithe weapon outfit Style (from Phase 2 onward)
      • A fragment for the Wormwrithe Haj Mota pet
      • A fragment of the Caltrops, Bone Skill Style (from Phase 2 onward)
    • A chance for a sellable treasure of varying value (one is guaranteed in Glorious coffers)
      • This reward has a very low chance to be replaced with the Coldharbour Surreal Estate if you do not already own it, or with a sellable treasure of exceptional value if you do.

    It's both. When it comes to events, people like to collect items that are unique to those events. And they want to feel if they played a lot for the day, they've made a decent dent at getting everything the event has to offer. If you maximize the event, you should be close to getting much of what's on offer, especially if those items aren't coming back ever again. At least that's been my experience.

    I don't even know what all the event rewards are and I'm barely getting any of them. Instead I'm getting spammed with the same gear I can get anytime I want.

    Many games drop some sort of token from events that you can save up and buy what you want if you didn't get it to drop

    Event consumables that offer unique buffs or transform your character in fun ways that are earned from drop

    And this items are dropped alongside the more premium stuff. It allows those items to remain unique and the drop rate for them not overly high (letting people sell stuff they got from events at reasonable prices that aren't too expensive nor so over flooded that you can't even give them away).

    The furnishings for example, should have dropped pretty well to begin with. I'm glad to see that's being hot fixed at least.

    ESO seems to too often either absolutely flood your bag with the event stuff, making them hard to give away by the end and a little less fun of an earn. Or they make extremely rare drops that feel like a nightmare to grind. There doesn't seem to be that sweet spot where rewards feels both obtainable and valuable. And then it pads things up with cheap stuff you can get literally anytime you want and has little to do with the event. This makes event drops feel unrewarding and underwhelming.

    Some pre Phase 2 concerns. I hope that the alchemy crafting assignments take into account the rarity of the items being used to craft the items. losing a couple of Columbine and getting 1 or 2 Nirnroot in exchange is a losing proposition. So i hope that the assignements keep all fo this in mind, because as you say, you can't adjust whats in the boxes overly much.

    Many apologies, but that's absurd. It is right and good that folks playing an adventure game should expect to be rewarded for their successful adventures with prolific and delightfully sleek rewards, especially if those rewards are imaginary and effectively free. A "once-in-a-lifetime" event should, by default, reward once-in-a-lifetime rewards.

    Many times when you see players trying to advocate for less rewards, you can trace it directly back to them wanting players to pull themselves up by their boot straps all the way to their guild trader so you can purchase the things they do happen to be selling. Not all. Many.

    Invasion boss in jodes light still doesnt drop lead for monomyth reforged, I know ZoS already said that invasion bosses have to drop leads that normal bosses would, but jode's light one is stubborn and refuses to listen, could you guys check whats going on with this one?

    Are the wormwrithe outfit style pages guaranteed one a day?

    No. A player is guaranteed one drop of "something" from the possible three gold boxes. If that "something" ends up being pet fragments, there went your change of a style page from your daily gold boxes. And then a player has a small chance of getting a style page from the blue boxes. However, the small chance combined with the ZOS RNG means multiple players (including myself) have NOT gotten a style page for that day, even after getting lots of blue boxes across multiple alts that day.

    Separately, my personal experience is that you still get pet fragments as your one daily guaranteed gold box drop after completing collecting the pet, while you are still missing a style page to complete the Wormwrithe armor outfit.

    Today I received a Stirk page and a Wormwrithe page (from different gold boxes). I also received a pet fragment from the third box. Normally that doesn't happen, but I've received multiple pet fragments on the same day (from different golden boxes) a few times.

    Because they *can't* fix the boxes with a hotfix. The boxes are something built into the game with set rewards at set rates. They would need to completely give a new type of item or some crazy complicated coding to fix boxes. But boss drops? That they can easily tweak because it's just a % in the game. They don't have to actually roll out a game update to our files to fix boss drop rates. BOX drops rates is almost certainly an entirely different story. They COULD HAVE fixed it if they'd listened during PTS, they maybe COULD HAVE had time, but that time came and passed when it rolled to live. So right now, literally ALL THEY CAN DO is fiddle with boss % drop rates.

    They've lost touch with their players. When they actually listen to us, it's too late to make meaningful changes quickly. They are holding out because they're still living in the ESO gamer mindset of... 4 years ago? Maybe? This game is NOT that anymore. Heck, post-Covid, gaming and how we spend our money has changed vastly. They have struggled to adapt.

    Look, the last year or two have been really rough for ESO. The anniversary events were plagued with major issues - the vMA drops, the crafters celebration transmute debacle, the PTS-connected-to-live, and the Staff of Worms debacles. Streamers have largely left. The NA expo was cancelled. I could go on.

    Point is, the game's in a sensitive place, these moments are important. If people go to PTS and call out issues, fix them and then there. If you guys can roll out hotfixes like you have been, which really is appreciated, then I don't see why issues can't be fixed earlier.

    I also greatly appreciate some communication and some changes. That said, I'm also incredibly disappointed by this "once-in-a-lifetime" event. Lackluster content, rewards, and honestly it even feels in some places like you're trying to PUNISH your players. It feels like you don't respect our time, do not want us to have fun, do not want to reward us (WHY do you care if we have a few extra non-combat pets? We'll STILL buy the crates, homes, and other high-value crown stuff... do you just not have any spare assets you haven't used that we can have?)

    Honestly, I just want to skip the rest of the phases and open Eastern Solstice. I want this awful event to be over so I can get the content I've already paid for. THIS EVENT ISN'T CONTENT.

    That's incorrect, that they can't fix the boxes. In her post she stated that they are limited in the number of hot fixes they can do. I personally don't believe that, but think she has to say what she's told.

    I would, however, like to commend @ZOS_JessicaFolsom for her excellent communication in this thread and the team for responding and acting on player feedback. While it may not be everything everyone wanted, and people have feelings about how it released this way, this was a start. So thank you
