What is your last interaction with a new player?

I was fashion flexing in A starter town, as per usual.

Some new player level 10 came and said : Wow you look so cool! Love the mount

I showed them that they should also have a Mount in collections bar and to press H, they lost it once on their horse, started running n jumping

Then I told them of this amazing Rumoured person who can help them with a better backpack, gave them 10k to get at least 100 inventory.

They lost it again! Said wowowowo so nice of you!

Told them I had a pet who needs a good home and caring, and gave them the first runebox in guild bank, the snow bunny.

They lost it again started calling me “Master”

Quite amazing feeling like A philanthropist

Gave a quick rundown for mechanics in vMHK to a guy who asked. He wasn't new to the game (had over 1k CP) but was new to vet dungeons. As to new players I don't remember. I helped someone killing Wuyuvus the other day and it was a lowbie with no outfit so I assumed he was new, but I can't be sure.

I think you and I could be drinking buddies.

    To the OP:

"What is your last interaction with a new player? "

I routinely roll a fresh character and visit starting zones to help new people. Advice, gear, and whatever happens in the course of the time that I am there.

So I'll spend an hour in-zone, doing quests, opening chests, and gathering a selection of gear that I'll offer in zone chat. Usually they get snapped up when I link something, while other times I'll just mail a set of starter training gear and gold to someone who seems to be taking their first steps in the game.

The other day while doing this I, unfortunately, bumped across a troll.

Apparently everything I was offering in the zone chat was trash, I was insulting new people, and blah blah blah. The rest didn't matter. They were just having a bad day, and wanted to disrupt what I was doing.

So I left the zone. It's not worth my time to endure people like that, even for a minute. I'll just go back later on another day.

I ported to my Snugpod, and was going to decon my collection of level 7 goodies, when I get a /whisper from someone from the original zone. "Hey man, sorry about that guy. I could use that staff if you were still offering."

I sent him the staff, a suit of training gear, and a thousand gold. I also made him 2 sets of Julianos for level 30 and 40, giving him something to look forward to.

i think it would be nice if it would show CP regardless which level the character is (if its greater than 0) as the current UI doesnt do this and can make it difficult to tell if its a really new player, or an alt

Fashion flexing means you stand around in a town hoping other players will be impressed with the way your character looks, their mount etc.

I was playing with a friend who is a very new player. He's almost level 20 and I still have trouble getting him to change his armour or put points into skills... sigh. I just make him a purple set every now and then. Not doing training traits since I don't want faster leveling until he understands the game better.

Helped a RL friend with some world bosses.

Last random newbie I ran across, I fell off a cliff and started running around. Saw them standing around waiting for help at a world boss, so I murked it real quick

What? is that a thing? lol

if I see someone doing that in real life I hope there are tomatoes nearby, now I finally understand what the mudballs are for in the game.

Oh well, to each his own i guess.

    Anyway, thanks for the explanation.

Level 6 in Vivec whispered me, asking if I could give her some maple and columbine so she could finish her writs without having to run around to find them because she only had a few minutes. I gave her a stack of each, plus 5k gold, asked if she knew about the guild traders, and about the survey maps.

She was quite grateful, and I still hear from her once in a while - she writes me letters every month or so, and sends a furnishing or a motif.

I help a lot of folks whether they're new or not. The last random I helped was last week in vMHK.

I don't bark out mechanics (so many get upset then start berating the player(s) and yada yada you know the rest) if I see the pug struggling...just a nice mic pop-on and respectfully explain. 9 times out of 10 we always make it through. Love helping others ...that's what makes our game so special!

I think it means showing off your outfit? A lot of players really get into the outfitting aspects of ESO, and spend a lot of time picking the style for each item of gear to create an ensemble that looks good on their character, then spend a lot of time on dying everything to get the colors just right.

Myself, I've barely ever used an outfitting station, and all of my gear is whatever style and colors it dropped in, but once I did spend a little time trying to collect items of clothing you can loot from containers, then went through each of my alts to try to put together ensembles of street clothes that I thought looked good on them.

True story: A year or two ago I was doing the daily crafting writs on my alts while the New Life Festival was going on, and saw someone in zone chat ask if they could get a lift to Breda for the festival. I wasn't crunched for time to get my writs done, and had bought the snow-globe home the year before, so I quickly ported to the festival and whispered him to port to me. Then I waited around while he picked up a quest, helped him port to the zone where the quest was, and basically stuck with him for a bit while he did the event quests.

So he sees my dog and says, "You have a dog? I wish I had a dog." I happened to have some Crowns left over after buying one of the limited-time houses, so I pulled up the Crown Store, found the only dog that was available at the time that fit my budget of Crowns, and gifted it to him. It was my first time gifting anything, so it took us both a little while to figure out how he could claim the gift. And during our fumbling around he asks how long I've been playing ESO. "A few years now." And his response to me? "Really? Because your character is so ugly!" It's a good thing I hadn't just taken a sip of something, because I would have sprayed it all over my monitor laughing.

He wasn't wrong. My alt had accidentally researched his cuirass while wearing his street clothes, and by that time I'd gotten tired of my street clothes experiment, so my alt's ensemble-- if you can call it that-- consisted of mostly-matching gear but then a mismatching grungy light gray shirt with suspenders.

Another time I gifted someone a goat because they were getting hassled in zone chat after asking if anyone happened to have a spare goat they didn't need. And another time someone else was getting hassled in zone chat after asking if anyone would buy them the Necromancy class, so I gifted it to him. But those were all rare occasions when I just happened to have some extra Crowns left over at the end of the year during the holidays.

Other than that, I've occasionally mailed new players 50k so they could buy a horse from a stable master, or some gold to buy bank or inventory upgrades. But mostly I enjoy just running off to help kill a boss if I see someone call for help in zone chat, or give someone a lift to a zone, or craft them some requested item for research, or mail them what they're needing to complete their daily writs. A lot of players are happy to do those sorts of things when they see people ask for help in zone chat. :)
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

What does it mean fashion flexing?

It's the most important part of ESO :D Standing afk, or interacting with environment/other players while wearing a nice clothes/personalities; using emotes and mementos, changing mounts...

    Zua7dIk.jpg

That screenshot was taken during release of Dragonscale crate season, so the Solar Horse mount was extremely rare and obtainable only as rare drop from those crates. Nowadays it doesn't have much meaning, sadly :'( But in the past, seeing this mount was a sight! Everyone gathered there just because a player was idling on this golden beauty.

Or something much more simple, because nowadays I rarely play long enough to have time and mood for this:

    dCUak9i.jpg

As for interaction with new player... Meaningful interactions were very few and very long time ago. Since Greymoor and epic fail with vMA and vDSA weapons, I became more and more grumpy after each passing day :| And with introduction of Seals of Endeavor and every return of old crate seasons, nowadays I am just retired angry veteran :(
About few months ago, while I was on a rare mount semi-afk near banker in Vivec city, some new player whispered me asking what is the mount I ride, and I linked it to them.
Told them I had a pet who needs a good home and caring, and gave them the first runebox in guild bank, the snow bunny.

That's nice! During events, such runeboxes are so common and very cheap on guild traders... But for a new player who joined ESO afterwards and doesn't have any knowledge about events, doesn't have any pets and doesn't know about traders, such gift has great value :)

We have a new player in our guild, plays on console and has no access to crown store due to the version of the game he is playing. He was desperate to get the quasigriff mount during the new life festival as he really wanted a cooler mount than the horse he had.

He was gutted to find he was one ticket short.

Gifted the ticket straight away, I didn't want him missing out on the mount he coveted just because he couldn't get enough event tickets.

Was only me and this other player at the Hunger world boss in Vvarfenfell and I kept getting pinned by it and asking the other player to bash, but they didn't so I kept dying (plus it would heal). Finally a few more people came and were able to interrupt and we finally killed it. The person said in say chat that they were sorry for being bad and they were new, so I explained how to bash and the red lines that signal a channel that can be interrupted, and wished them well on their ESO adventures. I think it was fairly wholesome.

I had good time with level 32 new player in Vaults of Madness today. They kinda got lost, fell off some stuff, and otherwise died when they really shouldn't have, but they were trying. After his second apology two of us told him not to apologize, just keep trying. He did. We got through. And it was a decently good time.

I was running a lower level alt, with a build I've not tried before. I was in one of the zone story missions which I've run several times (don't remember which one). I came to the final room, which has a tricky puzzle to solve and complete the quest.

There were about four, level 15-20 players in there and as I watched, I could see them struggling to solve the puzzle. I came up on the chat and gave them the solution. Verbally I didn't hear a response, but watching I could see they quick finished the puzzle.

Grouped with him , showed bank,
Explained how to use the map.
How to equip and use horse.
    explained how stam, mag works,
told him some the best morphs for his class,
gave him sites with guides ,
    explained crafting,
explained what items he should pick up or not,
gave him 2 pets from runeboxes,
10k so he could reset skills and attributes,
gave him training gear lv 10,
explained how to lv skill lines,
    Helped him join fighters guild,
told him some cool missions that give cool rewards like scarlet judge. Razak opus
    Told him about endeavors.
Teleported him to the warrior stone.
Told him were to easily find the story in chronological order in case he wanted to do it that way.
To do 2 or 3 battlegrounds for vigor and horse speed passive.
Toldhim vamp and werewolf bites/cure were free.
And promised i would give him a cool opal style once he reached lv50.

I have helped 4 players so far 3 quit before lv 30.
