What happens
When the stonekeeper is doing his 'molag kena' or 'fire arm' mechanic the telegraphed fire will not lineup with where the fire actually is, causing people to die who are stood outside the telgraphed fire. The cause of the death is 'The Stonekeeper: Disintegration Failsafe - 21652 damage'
Furthermore, the boss will often 'twitch' as his rotation on the client side do not seem to be synced with his rotation on the server side.

What is meant to happen
The fire tick should only damage you when you are stood where the telegraphed fire is. And the Stonekeeper's rotation movement should be smooth rarther than twitching between two rotations.

    PC/EU can confirm the same issue, the fire killed us even when we were well away from it, as if the arm movement was desynched/delayed, but it wasn't visible on screen, so even though we thought we were moving correctly, we still died.

    The way my group did it was when that phase comes, focus your crosshair or just generally focus on the core and the piece of metal below it (on his chest) and strafe whilst facing it, even when the boss stutters his rotation, keep following it, works on both sides of him, tank on 1 side, rest on the other side etc

    As long as you dont get stunned and lose momentum then you are fine, we didn't do hardmode but we did complete it by doing the above method.

    Our group wiped there many times, we could survive this phase more often if we didnt move at all and "getting hit" by the flames. If we tried to avoid them and move with the boss we wiped nearly every time. In the end we could not get reliable past flame phase and didnt beat the boss. And this happend too ;)

    Yes, well explained, that's exactly what is happening.
    Also, this seem to happen only on the EU server, streamers on PC NA had no trouble dodging the fire.

    Out of curiousity, @CyberOnEso did you manage to clear it? :-)

    We gave it up after we just kept getting *** over by the fire, we cleared vDoM hm earlier so didn't have the willpower to clear it.

    This is a problem that we reported during the first week of PTS, but it's intermittent, which I suspect is why ZOS has a hard time pinning it down.

    Workaround 1: The problem is that the visuals of the fire are not matching where the fire mechanic is actually happening. So on your screen, you are standing in a safe area, but the game thinks you're in the fire. One strategy that we found that works well is to wait for the boss to start stuttering, and when that happens, walk with the fire that's behind you. The reasoning is that if the fire is where it shouldn't be, then it probably isn't where it should be.

    Workaround 2: If the stutter bug is happening every time he does the fire, then you could reset the instance and restart the dungeon. When we ran into this, it was happening on every fire in every pull, but after restarting the dungeon, it didn't happen at all.

    Not sure what triggers the bug and why it happens in some instances and not others. But until they sort it out, these are the two mitigations that we had come up with.

    Here is a workaround for people that still want to clear it - it's playing with fire :trollface: - but it works if you find out the right timing:

    Start in the middle of the 2 fire beams, move with the beams for 3-5 seconds and then slowly start falling back, for the last 3-5 seconds of the mechanism you want to be in the fire beam that you were running away from.

    the fire animation of a rotating army is about 5 meters ahead of the actual (invisible) fire that burns people. As a result people aiming to be nicely in between the animation of both fire arms are actually being burned by the fire arm that is visually ahead.

    So until this bug is fixed the trick to survive is to actually aim to be 1m ahead of the fire arm behind you. Even when lagging or falling back into that fire arm you are still safe.
