I have found that this game forces players to think and fundamentally change strategies from time to time.

For example as a sorcerer I was forced to pick up a bow to kill the orbs in the pre-nerfed Fighters Guild Quest to kill Doshia. It was early on and I had no AoE or easy way to deal with the orbs (my casting time was long). Once I picked up the bow, the orbs were single shotted and Doshia went down easy. I really took great pleasure from that victory.

I was stunned at the number of mages the complained bitterly about this fight and refusing to modify their approach. Definition of Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome??

I actually think the Devs did a disservice to players by nerfing that quest, it was an early lesson in adaptability.

Now in veteran mode I find I have sufficient skill point to be pretty versatile. Seeing that some folks found these mobs manageable with specific skills, I will skill appropriately for them.

    Cheers

Tanks? Why on earth would you even consider being a tank?

Looks, its real simple. Damage, damage and more damage. Build up for veil of blades on trash mobs (ie 1-3 man groups), then pop it on the strong mobs and go all out nuts with everything you got.

You *do not* want drawn out fights. Harvesters is the prime example. Soloing a VR10 harvester should not even be a challenge for a dps Nightblade with ultimate up - in fact you should be able to kill it just about when the first set of balls come.

It is actually a very narrow amount of skills that make or break the solo PvE Nightblade in my experience - leeching strikes, veil of blades, shadowy disguise, killers blade and surprise attack. That is all you'll ever need. Pair with dual wield and medium armor to have the damage to back it up.

Bow is completely pointless and you should be ashamed for using it. You're a Nightblade, not a fancy-pants archer.

Bow is great for kitting not all bosses should be me lee also fun to mix it up.

You don't need leaching strikes for solo it is a waste of a slot. Use a couple is stamina damag when you magic is down. Whirlwind and blood craze mixed in with light strikes works well

You have a 12 second stun with that groups of 3 become 2. You don't need a ulltama to kill 2. Use soul tether in oh crap situations when you run into a group or something

I been reading how hard vet levels are and frankly I don't see it

Yes. LMB + RMB ('Bash') while CCd.

    Stop trolling.

No ability should be a requirement for one or two mob types.

It has nothing todo with trolling just because you feel lost in your clumsiness!

How much more skills and advice do you need to get your s*** straight?

Ever combined double take with dark shades or heated blades while hots ticking?
No, because you all afraid losing damage when playing def strong melee bars.

At least you would not fail 24/7 and keep on writing desperate QQ posts if you would just give your head a shake and play more flexible in certain situations.

And whenever successful players give you an advice you guys don't want to hear it, ok then don't come here and deal with your SA problems by yourself instead annoying us with your ignorance!

God damn it! I'll better will kill 10 harvesters than 1 Storm Atronach!

I've forced to deal with them again - at Reapers March! Who the hell crated this sh*t? This is just impossible! 15k HP, melee hits for 500-600, fast attacks, he is ALWAYS running.
    WTF?

Anyone care to record video or show me ingame how to kill that DEMON solo?

I posted this in another thread about Storm Atronachs. This is how I deal with them. Unfortunately, I know of no way to deal with them without using light armor and resto staff. This is just way the game works right now, so we either have to adapt or don't play (something I've been doing a lot more of lately :'( )
Yes this is definitely possible, I just killed about 30 of them yesterday to finish of my Daedra Hunter achievement. They are VR5 for me. Granted I am VR12 and have some gear, but I never got below 90% health fighting one of them, so it should be possible at lower levels. And yes sorry, you will need to use a resto staff. It's very difficult to solo them any other way. I use 7/7 light and two resto staves.

    First bar:

    Funnel Health/Swallow Soul
    Cripple
    Immovable
    Mage Light
Literally whatever you want here, Impale or Killers Blade would be good for execution DPS
Veil of Blades (most important part)

    Second bar:

    Quick Siphon (very important)
    Mutagen
    Healing Ward
    Dark Shades (also very important)
Whatever you want here, Mirage, whatever
    Veil of Blades, doesn't matter

I charge up my ultimate on Fire Atronachs, which should be easy to kill. I start fight stealth, cast Dark Shades, then cast Quick Siphon, switch bars, activate Mage Light and Immovable, run in, drop Veil of Blades, and then light attack/Funnel Health, weaving in Cripple when the dot fell off (they are usually dead before any of this wears off for me, will take longer obviously for lower level). The combination of Veil of Blades and Dark Shades leads to a huge reduction in damage, coupled with Quick Siphon and Funnel health, which gives you good healing. If Dark Shades or Quick Siphon falls off, quickly switch weapons, block and recast, cast a heal if need be while on the second bar. Switch back and go to town. If you go low on mana, which you probably will, 1-2 heavy attacks with the resto staff will get you enough to finish the fight.

The key is Dark Shades and Veil of Blades. Just stay within the huge red circle and they can't hurt you much.

The melee damage of SA would not hit him when he would use spark as i have mentioned before. As well he doesn't notice out of sight kites while siphoning dots and hots tick.

Instead Mr. QQ prefers playing his own stubborn style with sword/shield because he likes to be stationary fodder and then complains about tanks or heavy armor in TESO. Ridiculous!

Sure some mobs hit like a truck, thats why you just don't stay on the f****** road and wait til it happens ... Common sense!
I will maintain my stubborn style of S&B +resto siphoning NB since it allows me to take groups of 8 of humanoids in Craglorn,it allows me to farm vR9/10 public group dungeons and it allows me to solo everything except bosses in Craglorn Delves. It also allows me to take 2 Frost atronachs and it allows me to beat even SAs when everything goes well. You can keep your lousy DW refreshing path build for yourself you awesomely coordinated nb player,. :p

Can anybody actually confirm that Sparks even works on a VR 10 storm atronach? It would really surprise me.

So what is your problem then? This? :
    PBpsy wrote:

Apparently you agree, that they are doable!

But your last statement actually confirmed once again what i have said before, that you apparently one of the guys that expect to kill them fast ...

But you said no its not about that ...

So please explain why you cannot accept the fact that you can lose against certain mobs? Are you frustrated because you need 3 tries or what the heck you are trying to tell us?

As you said, next try and you done. Whats wrong with that?
    PBpsy wrote:

So now you want to tell us, that you are not able to invest one skill point into spark and try this on a Storm Atronac to convince your self? Are you serious?

However, you still don't get the point because you know they hit like a truck.
So how comes that most of the skills on your hotbar are offensive?
Why no double take, why no dark shades, why no higher dodge rating etc.?

So basically you are calling it to get hit like a truck and thats why your wannabe NB tank strategy makes no sense. So please don't complain when i tell you the truth, that you obviously prefer being a stationary tank who is not flexible enough when it comes to specific mob situations like SA.

And no one said, you must use DW spark. You have decided being a shield tank (a very off tank like build) and if you don't want to rethink or improve your build or learn from your SA experiences whats your point in coming here to complain about SA difficulty?

First of All It is your character, Play the game the way you pay to play, tell all others to mess off. There is more than 1 way to skin a chicken, cant stand people who say a character has to be built a certain way or its worthless. and as Far as doing those mobs solo, THANK YOU WOW for ruining mmos. I would sugest trying to get a quest partner Way more fun requardless of your build or class or skills. Misery loves company :)

LOL/ and WOW did ruin MMO's if it was never released and everyone was forced to play EQ 2 in 2004 we would have much better games and true MMO's with *** loads to do.

Much better games? You have some interesting dreams.

But I think you already forgot that SOE pretty much hurt many games.

Just a reminder it was sony that screwed up EQ and SWG and we all knew it while playing. It was just a matter of time ...

Not sure about you but eq2 blew hard at launch.

Someone in party went full rtard and died? Shared xp debt. Pissed off enough healers that finding one was hell.

Then the combat revamp what was it, GU13 or something? More pissed off folks leaving.

No, SOE got a bad rap and people were already critical of the game. And there wasnt a crapload to do unless you enjoyed spending hours in a room grinding.

That said, now I want to go clear out Runnyeye again for lols.

Every class has some form of damage mitigation. Dodge, chance to miss, lightning armour, bound armour etc

Every class have some form of CC. Rune Prison, Cripple etc

Every class has some form or stun. Encase, surprise attack etc

Every class has some form of slow (kiting) restraining prison, crippling grasp etc

Every class can dodge, block, interrupt.

These are the skills that need to be on your bars because they keep you alive. You can't just hack and slash. Your focus should be on NOT GETTING HIT. especially in vet content. And yes that even applies to tanks. You might be able to go toe to toe with mobs 1 to 50 but forget it in vet content. if you are getting hit your are doing it wrong
