Dear devs, we are not all tanks

I am not a tank, I am a Nightblade in medium armour with a bow, how exactly am I supposed to kill strong quest mobs that can 3 shot me when they are immune to interrupts, knock backs and stuns? I am unable to solo a VR4 quest with VR4 mobs even though I am VR8 because these Atronachs which drop the items I am supposed to collect are immune to everything.

Now I get that there is a strong push in this game to get people grouping up and working together but one can not always find people online and on the same quest at the same time. This isn't a group dungeon, this isn't a group quest so why the hell are there mobs essential to the quest that simply can not be soloed by certain builds??

You are supposed to have some survival skills on your bar for soloing (and not all atronachs can be soloed). Welcome to a game where glass cannons are actually made of glass.

Its true Veteran Rank is MEANT to be harder. So things such as world bosses require help more often than not.

Being a tank won't help you much. A full set of heavy doesn't soak up a lot of damage. IMO VR sucks, and you just have to wait a while for someone else to come along sometimes.

The best thing you can do is skip it unless this quest is a main story quest. If that is true, then the only thing you can do is wait for someone or change your build

Tanks? Why on earth would you even consider being a tank?

Looks, its real simple. Damage, damage and more damage. Build up for veil of blades on trash mobs (ie 1-3 man groups), then pop it on the strong mobs and go all out nuts with everything you got.

You *do not* want drawn out fights. Harvesters is the prime example. Soloing a VR10 harvester should not even be a challenge for a dps Nightblade with ultimate up - in fact you should be able to kill it just about when the first set of balls come.

It is actually a very narrow amount of skills that make or break the solo PvE Nightblade in my experience - leeching strikes, veil of blades, shadowy disguise, killers blade and surprise attack. That is all you'll ever need. Pair with dual wield and medium armor to have the damage to back it up.

Bow is completely pointless and you should be ashamed for using it. You're a Nightblade, not a fancy-pants archer.

I'm not a tank, but I like one-hand and shield tree that I maxed out everything in it for my survival and utility. It works quite well in veteran content. I get a damage shield charge, a damage increasing debuff stab tho it taunts the mob, an 8 sec cc bash is awesome, and the spell reflect makes casters so much easier when they hurt and stun themselves for a little bit and keep doing it each time. I keep 2 of them on my action bar at all times depending on what I'm fighting, it has made certain fights so much easier than having all out attacks.

Not all named encounters can be soloed. More times than not, if you get in zone chat and say "I need help with [insert named here], pst." there are quite a few people whom are eager to assist =)

On another note, if you are soloing and have no other choice, carry plenty of pots, over charge your best single target ultimate before any named encounter.

If you want to play the game after level 50 then you have to use a destruction staff and spam volcanic rune. That is the only viable choice.

This is a problem I have been facing of late after starting V7 level. I have just been through an entire may and am still yet to complete 2 Dolmens, all of the WB and the Public Dungeon that requires a group.
Despite constant requests in local I have not been able to get any help. Even stood around one of the WB for 20 mins hoping someone would show but gave up in the end.
Veteran zones are like ghost towns and makes for frustrating times when one is in need of help and would like to get the achievements.
I find myself playing the game less and less of late which is sad really because I really like the game but the enjoyment factor is getting sucked out of me...

Nor are the Glass Cannons actually Cannons, they're more like High Powered Rifles which only hit the body.

I've always thought that a Glass Cannon should be able to one shot practically anything but be easily stepped on (ie Mobs are dangerous to them) whereas Tanks should be damned hard to kill but do quite low damage and be able to taunt enemies to hold them in place (ie high survivability at the cost of long battles). The Devs don't think that way in this game though, they seem to want people to stick within the centre of the Bell Curve. If they truly wanted "grouping" in the game, this is the way they should have gone IMO.

Oh, the enemy Storm Atronachs? Oh. You mean those enemies that have 11,000 health, are immune to every CC imaginable, cannot be staggered, snared, or tickled. Snares you on alert, and slugs you with OP melee damage on quick jabs that have a range of about 10 meters? Have NO combat strategy to utilize,(like Frost Atronachs having powerful, yet dodge-able special attacks) Nope. Just ONE tactic. Punch with an inescapable, utterly un-kite-able melee spam of 10 meters. Yes. TEN METERS. YOU READ THAT RIGHT. They punch way past their animation limitation.

That quest is ridiculous. I didn't do it until I was VR9, and I had to use a caster spec, it wasn't worth the deaths and I am not pro enough to finish it as melee. And yeah, heavy armor only gives you probably 10% more mitigation than light armor, so it's not going to help that much.

That's what happen when you just flat scaling percentages on mobs in veteran ranks with no regards to NPC power.

Just started VR4 and haven't gotten to this yet, but I can say that the only mob in the game that I've consistently not been able to solo are gargoyles. The two quests I needed them for one was in area packed with aggro mobs and the other in a narrow cave. Otherwise I think I may have been able to kite but still don't really know. One I joined others killing it and the other I just dies and respawned past it and continued.

I'm guessing storms will be more of the same. Because melee is underpowered, so if you aren't a staff user and bow cc doesn't work what then?

Bow is completely pointless and you should be ashamed for using it. You're a Nightblade, not a fancy-pants archer.

If you're being serious, it's about one of the dumbest things I've read on this forum.

It's like saying, "You're a Dragon KNIGHT, so should be using sword and board, not light armor and staff", but... well... we know how that is.

The 'name' of the class means nothing, and for one, I am just hoping you were being sarcastic.
  • murklor007neb18_ESO

You got that all wrong. Its Dragonknight. You should be beating your opponent to death with a dragon or you're pathetic.

Knight is really weak as a definition for your gear as its more of a social status (which may include monks in light armor).

That's like saying Nightblade. You should... uhhhh.... be sleeping!

Yeah, one of the last quests in the Malabar Tor - for Pact players it with VR9 mobs ><
You need to kill 2 (TWO) Storm Atronachs to get quest items from them.
I've died there at my Sorc (light, resto and destro staves) VR11 at least 10 times, I was forced to use my Clanfear (I so hate pets!), even with him I've died few more times. I've used 15 potions of +Spell damage, + Spell crit + magicka there.
    But I did this quest.

Didn't have any idea how poor meleers will able to complete this quest: Storm Atronachs fully immune to any CC and snare, they are fast, thier phys attacks hits like a truck and it's range more than 7 meters, their magic attacks hits like a TWO trucks on the capped spell resist and without it it will just oneshot poor heavy and medium users...

The "problem" with Griffiths or Deagans type builds are that they only trash friendly but never show the limits of the NB class.

They do a great job in explaining things but they basically cover the strength of the NB class only. Thats why you would never see them doing hard bosses or AOE 5+ Vet content.

But there is a point when you need to start dealing with AOE 5+ packs and bosses if you like to play solo or at least want to try things in Craglorn how far you can push your class etc..

Don't make the mistake and let your NB become an anytimer just because of videos only covering the basics. You will fail hard!

Thats so quaint - especially since the much of the time you get damaged even when successfully dodged outside the damage area - so all that happened is I wasted stamina.
