Can't log in since latest patch... infinite loading screen [NA]

silent_banshee
Hey there,

Tried logging in a few times since the server went back up and I can't seem to make it to the character selection screen. I'm sure this is related to some sort of server traffic as this happens like clockwork whenever a new patch comes in, I'm just hoping this gets resolved so I get some time to play today.

EDIT: I made a few more futile attempts to log in, and instead of an infinite loading screen, I got a quick moment of a loading screen, then the music cuts out, the loading wheel stops, and the program crashes. This has happened three times now. I'm running the repair function to see if that helps.

Okay so I ran the repair function, no dice. Still crashing before character selection. No such problem before the server maintenance and now the game is completely unplayable.

Disable all addons always when there is patch, some addons will give you this error when there game updates cause the addons themselves are not update yet.

Every week I need to remove all addons from directory, that I'm fine with. What I'm not fine with it is ZOS breaking the game every week... I always get that infinite loading screen even with all mod completlely removed...

I actually don't play with addons because I just assume too many bugs will come up. I was able to log in but now I get dropped every minute or so. But I have come t expect this as it happens most nights during primetime hours at this point.

Same thing OP. Just started doing it. Run a middle of the road rig, no problems running ESO on ultra. I can keep a lean, mean, fighting machine, so I don't believe its anything to do with me.
But I also, every time, can't even make it to the character choice screen.

Hey did you solve your issue??? i have the same problem. I have weeks with tech support telling me to change stuff but i told em i was playing fine before the last patch, i have 3 characters and before that i was playing the beta. I do not think my machine or internet conection is the problem

I have the same problem, If any of you are using a Nvidia graphics card that may be the issue (i've read on this and several other forums) I've completely reinstalled ESO, turned off my AV (mcafee) and started as administrator.

The only fix i see is changing a few elements in the Usersettings.txt though the only problem is I don't have it.

Any insight on how to acquire this document?

Are you sure you're looking in the right place, @Sir_Teriel? It should be (for Windows) in your Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\ folder. The full path is C:\Users\[-Your Windows Account Name-]\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\ by default (it might also be called My Documents, I can't remember if I changed it myself or it's a Windows 7 thing, and if you're on the EU server it may have one of those ESO folders with EU tacked on). For Windows 7, you can just open any folder and there's just a link for it on the left to get there under "Libraries".

If indeed you have the right place and it's not there, as it's just a .TXT file you can try creating it yourself and adding those lines you mentioned, one "SET" setting per line. For some links to fixes about what I think you are describing as your problem check out these threads and posts:

Like I said, the UserSettings.txt is just a text file with, well, settings in there in plain text, so creating it yourself shouldn't be a big deal and perhaps will allow you to actually get in and set your own settings which would presumably then overwrite that file and set everything up properly. As merely loading the game isn't working, it's worth a shot, anyway!
