Remove cancelled accounts from the forums

If a player stops playing and wants to explain why, they should have 2-3 days max, to do so, on the forums or with the feedback tool. But ex-players staying for more than those said days, are here just to bring negativity and troll. The forums are filled with said comments and, quite honestly, its getting to the point where i don't even feel like coming here anymore.

So when can you start cleansing the forums from old accounts?! It makes no sense to let trolls wonder around.

EDIT: im not saying the game is perfect. Its far from it. But usually players that pay for the game, give feedback, with the intent of improving it. Players who have cancelled, for the most part, only complain about what made them quit and get that "i have nothing to lose" attitude.

That's wrong thing to do, you can moderate trolls, but you cannot reject all unsub players because vast majority of them provide legit comments, however difficult to hear.
  • snagallnub18_ESO
lol... them commenting is the only thing keeping a smile on my face atm... due to the fact i play a templar and its so gimped i cannot find a group for trials... i dont want to be regulated into a heal role so where does that leave me.. i guess ill be a troller also

If it hasnt expired yet then theyre entitled to post.

You prepay for time. If I paid for six months and quit after 2 weeks, Im able to post the rest of that six months, not 2-3 days after like youd like.

Not all of them are trolling. In fact, some of the biggest trolls are still playing.

If people whose subscription has expired are still able to post on the forums, then agreed -- that should be fixed. But if you've just cancelled your renewal, but you still have an activate subscription, then cutting your forum access would be pretty lame.

Leave them alone. People paid for that access time and it is theirs to use. If it is getting to hot in this kitchen for you, you know what to do same as well all do. leave the forum page for awhile and cool off.

Why would they delete accounts? Then people who come back would have to create new accounts. No game ever does that.

If the forums depress you, not reading them is always a good start.

I canceled my credit card because I don't trust them with it (they can't stop bots so not sure they can stop hackers). I still have 33 days left from my gamecard. Then I'll just get another game card.

Plus, if the game had less issues, there would be less people complaining. There would be trolls but there are genuine complaints on here.

As long as everyone is following the rules, everyone can stay.

Besides calling people trolls because they post after they cancelled is ignorant at best.

I'm here to try to make the game better. Calling me a troll is trolling. So, please don't be a hypocrite.

I have never played an MMO where everyone, even people that havent even bought the game are able to post. Its a recipe for disaster, which these forums already are.

Pay the monthly fee to be able to post! Or make an option for us to ignore the posts from people who dont subscribe.

Wrong. Only an active subscription account can post here. You create your forum account through their automated system when you register a game account. Once your subscription has lapsed, you are unable to post here, it will actually say lapsed next to your name.

Keep in mind, people still have time depending on how much they prepaid, even if they cancelled their sub.

In reality all they really get is "Oh help with Templars yea reroll DK. Gee Thanks.

Well..if segregation was the way to do things, then many of the player base would have had many questions unanswered in these last few months.
Im sure Im not the only one in here from the Beta days who has answered some questions from newcomers. Ofc, atm all I do now is read & rarely sign in, as most of you know more about the game now than I did.

But I still dont think this is the answer to trolls......it will only cause annoyance & resentment from the nicer people who for one reason or another cannot or will not play the game on PC (or for some, maybe not play the game at all?).

I think your best solution is to click on "flag" under a post & report the forum member. Not all reports will be seen the way you see them however & no action will be taken. But I would strongly suggest just reporting and ignoring regardless of the outcome, because once you start arguing & causing as much disruption as the troll, then you become as bad & will be treated accordingly by moderators.
This is simply because, the moderator will follow the book, and more often than not, does not have the time (and in some cases, the capacity) to determine the guilty party. So any participants will be seen as a guilty party. So don't get involved.

Actually it does. If enough people quit, ZOS will get the hint that they are doing something wrong.

Also, even though you were just being a smart ass, I meant I post suggestions on the forums to help with making the game better, but you knew that already.

Some people cancel their subscription and do plan to come back when the status of the game improves. They need to be able to come on the forums and figure out when that time is right. It is close minded to not allow them to be freely post and read the forums. If they break the forum rules, then suspend them....but otherwise I see no reason to limit people.

some players come to the forums to help. some of us have good ideas. some of us help in the help forums, especialy those with PC knowhow. would you prefer that someone who can help you if your PC goes belly-up, cannot post you the help you need, just becasue their sub has lapsed?
and a fair few would come here since its the *official* forums for the game.
we were told not to use other forums, other websites and fansites, becasue they might be compromised. run scripts in the background ect.
this is the only *official* forums for the elder scrolls online.
i would hate to not be able to help folks whos machines just burned out, or who ask for it, and not be able to just becasue i havent paid for more sub.

just report them when they troll, flame or otherwise break the forum rules.

They'll still be able to read the forums to see if it's worth re-subbing, they just won't be able to post unless they choose to re-sub if they read that the issues that caused them to unsub have been addressed.

I'd say reading the forums accomplishes that but being able to post any garbage a person wants to spread endless seeds of doubt.

    Stupid metaphor but....

If enough people told you EVERYDAY your family was trying to kill you.....At what point do you start to become suspicious and start having doubt as your mind is looking for a reason to believe.

This is not just in the forums its in the game just a rampant and hurtful. People are going out of their way to force more hate and the seeds of doubt will be more than enough to destroy ANY game whether it be one limping out the gate as this one is or look at WOW's numbers still high sure as high as they used to be when WOW was at its prime.

WOW was a Iron Solid beast of an MMO that the Dev's catered to their players like none other with money and power to spare. Their numbers PLUMMETED and FAST with the tiniest of slips. Its hard to see though due to the fact WOW is an anomaly held together as everybody and their brother happens to be playing that game as its easy and everybody knows its name.

those who quit often come back, usually after coming to the forums to see if their concerns with a game have been fixed. post questions and concerns, get their answers and then decide to give it a go again.

censorship isnt the way to combat the fear that all the negative posts have some impact on subscribers. a strong game isnt affected by trolling

maybe. but wow also stopped players who's subs have lapsed, from posting.
just leave the tag <lapsed> on the account.
that way, you allways know who has paid and who has run out. and you can then completely discount anything you read from their accounts if its negative.

but what if they post a posative thing? or a helpfull thing? you think those who have runout of time to play, only ever post hate and negativity?
i could say the same of may player types. PvPers. RAIDers.
<lapsed> allows you that grain of salt to realise that those folsk that keep telling you that your famly are trying to kill you, are wearing tinfoil hats and then you can point and laugh at them.
while usefull <lapsed> members can continue to discuss lore, mechanics ect on the OFFICIAL FORUMS.

    again. OFICIAL FORUMS.
we were told not to go anywhere else for risk of compromised accounts. its unfair to stop players that want to discuss things with those who are still here, from asking them questions here.

oh, and even though wow's forums are blocked to players who's accounts are not paid up..its STILL full of trolls and ***.

maybe, but most games also dont tell you to avoid using any other site, even fan sites.
you cant ask a player if you want to learn whether or not its going to be worth your while resubbing.
you cant ask them if a specific quest has been fixed, that casued you to be unable to progress.
you cant ask that lore question you may have been dying to ask.

    just keep the <lapsed> part.
if you just have to punish people for not paying, then limit their posts per day
but dont stop them from contributing. imagine they had the single, best idea that would reduce lag. or fix templars (yes, i know, thats highly unlikely, its just as an example)
you wouldn never see those ideas if you banned them from posting them
