Nightblade Update

While I'm happy the class is being worked on, I'm also pretty disappointed that it took this long. I bought the game a couple of days after the release date and chose Nightblade...my biggest mistake. I worked my butt off to get to level 49, and then was fed up. Completely fed up. I wasted so much time with her that it saddens me deeply. So I started a new character. I'm happy with my new one, but I think about my first all that time. I wasted time and money working on her, and for what?

I wish all you other Nightblades luck, but I am never going back to that class. Ever.

Honestly, from a professional standpoint, I think ZeniMax should give some compensation for giving us a completely broken class. You don't go to a store, choose an item from a variety, come home to find it broken, and then when you take it back the manager of the store says, "Oh, I'm sorry, but you have to keep that item, and we're not going to do anything about the fact that you wasted your money on it."

I love ESO, a lot, and I will continue to keep playing, of course, but I feel really bad for everyone who gets super excited about the Nightblade class (just like I was at first), and then finds it broken; it's a complete slap in the face.

It was my biggest mistake too and I've still not come to terms with it lol. I did all my crafting on my NB clothing/blacksmithing/provisioning etc all at 50, bought my horse and stacked it with speed and lots of extra pack space... and now he is useless to me except that he has all the hirelings and makes armor for my alts...

    .../sigh

I still have loads of fun with mine. Takes maxing all avail skill lines and cherry-picking the lot. I wish my single target was better, and I think with the FoM caster build it can be .... soloing 3-4 mobs can be tiresome, as you need to be invis for half the fight and cheapo them down.

Maybe 5% of players can top my AoE build. PE is the strongest skill for buffing weapon lines. Don't think any other class has that level of buff to Pulsar / Whirlwind combo. Easy to drop aggro temporarily with Cloak, as long as u don't have DoTs out there. Veil Ultimate lends very nicely to the build too

That's pretty much what happened with mine as well; I just use her for crafting needs and gathering mats, etc. now. Spent gold on my horse as well. It's disappointing, really, really disappointing.

Guys it's not Nightblade its Nightstaff! If you want max DPS and most efficient build it's light armor and double staff while spamming the NB healing spell!

Agreed, half-charged heavy attacks with inferno staff perfectly timed with funnel health in light armor does the trick.

Just thinking out loud . . . . . . . . . NB are broke but I’m starting to get the idea that some builds/play styles are more broken than others?

I use a stamina/crit, bow/bow build with 7/7 medium on my redguard and 34 points into health and 15 points into stamina. For most of VR I used purple gear, 5/7 divine trait, crit trait for weapon, Night Mother's Gaze set bonus 3/5,The Thief Mundus Stone, blue stamina health food and flawless dawnbreaker for both of my ultimate.

In my experience there weren’t very many public dungeons (Craglorn not include) that I wasn’t able to solo and in most cases it was either because of the number of mobs or bosses that could not be rooted, knocked back or kited.

Don't say that. take it from me. Wait until ArcheAge is released and go the Primeval class mix. They've even figured out how to make skill bars swap instantly and skills to just trigger when you press the relevant key.

Just imagine. You press a key and what is supposed to happen just happens. It's like their developers are magicians or something.

We should probably start a petition to have them burnt as witches.

Or hired by Zenimax. That would work too.

Game is an unplayable mess as a nightblade. I am by no means terrible, but when you die 25 times in an hour because Killer's blade fails to fire off, and other skills fail to do what they promise they will it's tiresome.

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Not only class balance and poor customer service are ESO's problem. Random account suspension is just another reason not to play this game again or recommend to anyone. Just happened to me. I have wasted way too much time hoping to get our favourite sneak(er)-class to its best, sharing my VR experiences and thoughts. Now this. Bah, wasn't even using damage-calculating mod, never farmed nor spammed. Enough is enough. At the moment, I won't even respond if they graciously admit I was right (which I, obviously, am). So, I hope you guys enjoy both the game and our beloved broken class. For me it was too much. The group play really had its moments, but I hope to meet you soMMOwhere else. Paw and claw!

Well I'm done with my NB. This is total crap, he's useless in vet zones now and I refuse to use a staff and change my whole build cause some idiots designed vet levels to be insane enough to make people quit. And yes I will quit if I can't play the way I want, and because I'm being forced to change my whole build with each encounter I come to.

Trying to fight the Blood Omen in a dream sequence... wtf were you people thinking? Did you try any of this content on a NB? I had 5 wisps spawn on me while the main boss attacked...

And yea the vet zones are empty... so how can I do the "solo" quests now? lmao no wonder they're empty and people quit!!

I soloed all the way to vr 10 than got in groups for Craglorn... I used the bows pushback and shadowy disguise A LOT. granted I never used DW the whole time I soloed because I always got wrecked that way. I did lvl up my DW by switching to DW when I turned in my quests. I also use the DW in trails on most boss fights along with the bow as my secondary. I love the quests and story lines not to mention the graphics are awesome. I would suggest that if you don't want to change to staff and light armor you find people to run with since vr zones can be hard to solo. As of right now I think I'm like the only person running trial runs with my guild as a stamina built character, but I still love to play the character my way. I am under par with other builds, but I have found that if a group works together in trail runs and dungeons things still work out. Another suggestion is to make a new character and wait until the patches come for stamina builds and NB's. I just made a new sorc and am having a lot of fun playing him plus I'm finding new shards that I didn't know about.

I've stuck with my nb as I probably wouldn't have bought the game otherwise. It feels slightly easier at times. Vr 4 at the moment. Hoping the game adds some more perks for paying this class. Prior to release I thought The focus on magicka was wrong and was a bad design choice and still think they missed the boat here.

They should just rename Magicka to Combat Resource, Stamina to Utility Resource, redo the passives on the armor skill lines completely, and change all weapon skills to make use of the Combat Resource.

Why bother fixing nightblade class when this game is clearly made for 2 classes only DK's & SORC's. The damage these classes pull off is insane

You don't. At the moment, at least.

This is not about "just boosting weapon damage", but about giving Nightblades class-skill synergies to those weapons. Boosting weapon-skills that are available to all classes will allow abuse by (already overpowered) DKs. Just don't.

At some point Drain Power (Power Extraction/Sap Essence) seemed like a way to go. They could tweak this skill so both Dual-Wielders and Staff-Wielders would benefit, but (as usual) they did nothing.

I play a stamina dw NB and its definately viable.
I would even say efficient in pvp (ambushing).

    Op? Hell no :|

Are you sure its a NB issue? Regardless of class the best setup (DPS, Sustained and AoE efficiency) would be Light Armor+Staff...So its not just the class now is it?

A few people messaged me asking me about my build from a post above so I figured I post the information there looking here in case other people had questions.

N o t e: Critical Hits Deals 1.5 x regular damage regardless of weapon or skill type so you want high Crit & weapon damage.

    Race: Redguard
    Weapons: Bow & Bow
    Attributes: 00M | 34H | 15S
    Armor: 7x Medium Armor
Armor trait: 7/7 divine (Increase Mundus stone effects by X%)
Weapon trait: Precise (Increases weapon and spell critical values by X%)
Armor Glyphs: 7x Glyph of Stamina (Adds (x) Max Stamina)
Weapon Glyph: Glyph of Rage (Increases your Power by (x) for (y) seconds)
Jewelry Glyphs: 3x Glyph of Increase Physical Harm
    Mundus Stone: The Thief
Set bonus 1): Night Mother's Gaze set bonus 3/5
    - Critical attacks also reduce the targets armor by 20% for 5 seconds.
    Set bonus 2): Hunding's Rage 5/5
    - Adds 14 Stamina Recovery
    - Increase weapon damage by 19% when using weapon abilities
Food Option 1): Blue, Stamina & Health
    Food Option 2): Green, Stamina
Ultimate 1): Dawnbreaker ultimate (Passively increases your damage with weapon attacks.)
Ultimate 2): Dawnbreaker ultimate (Passively increases your damage with weapon attacks.)
Weapons & Armor quality while leveling VR: Epic (purple)

For my AOE I use the scorched earth & Bombard combo in which the scorched earth quickly builds the Flawless Dawnbreaker ultimate.

For groups of mobs that can't be kill by AOE you through Reaper's Mark on the caster (leave the melee to last) open up with scorched earth after it pulls then light attacks and Venom Arrow to interrupt and start a second dot. As soon as their health drops below 25% switch to Impale to drop them fast and move to the next target.

What skills do you have on your bars? Also light attacks = low sustained dps comparatively, you should consider adding silver bolts to your rotation as a direct stamina to dmg conversion.

Sadly true. I play a melee nightblade in pvp, and if i get the jump on someone I have a good chance of killing them, but if they survive my initial rotation, my only real option is to run and hide. My DW dps is like 200-300 aka total garbage, but my sneak attacks and executes can spike high and drop someone in a couple seconds. Also the word you were looking for is closer.

Still find it funny that dks are complaining about nèrfs. If I sneak on a nb or templar they're dead. Sorc will bolt escape. Dk will use talons and a banner and kill me most of them time. Unless I can actually do some decent damage on the opener.
