Or you could recognize you created the problem yourself with your own choice of playing on a NA server. It would make more sense for you to petition for an Oceanic server than to complain they did things on NA time on a NA server.

You know I do think, or presume, that they must be hot fixing something important that needed immediate down time...which if it's that urgently necessary then do what you gotta do, but then ....what you said is also true. Regardless of the intentions or purpose, it seems painfully obvious ZoS has done just about everything and anything to drive this game into the ground since long before head start reaching far back into beats a year before launch. Just go watch some Entropy Rising archived streams on Twitch if you want first hand experiences from people that were hand picked to play those betas for a year before the game launched. You will hear what it was like dealing with ZoS, and you see that reflected in the live game as well.

What goes on in a developer's offices, the exec's and management's decision making, etc. are all very much easily translated into the game you see before you. You don't need to be in the loop or in the offices at ZoS to see that they don't have their house in any kind of order, because that trickled down to the live game were attempting to play. They may think there is a wall between us and them....their overall handling of this game may not tell us everything we need to know, but it's enough.

This game may have been an initial success with box sales and initial subs, but unfortunately this game doesn't have much of a life on the horizon as people bailed weeks ago in bulk, and more are being shed daily in droves... it's all the remaining community is buzzing with in private voips, forums, reddit, etc... They did this to themselves. If they truly wanted this game to have longevity, they alone destroyed that prospect. Imo I think it's too late to turn this game around, they won't get those players back, and I can't pay friends and some guildmates that haven't had the chance to get their hand on ESO yet to try it...they know what's been going on.

I can't say for sure this is a cash grab launch, but for me this looks extremely identical to the methodology of many other developers making a game just an initial cash grab off a well known AAA title name, with no real concern for longevity(of course this involves lots of lies and b.s. and smoke screening the community). It's just my speculation of course, but I have played a lot of mmos...especially Korean and other Asian developed mmos and they are known for having quite a few pushed out cash grab games. They do this huge mass hype toward launch, get the big initial box sales, then have a small skeleton crew just manage(barely if at all) what remains cause it's all gravy at that point even if most of the population drops the game. Expect the F2P format to roll out in very very near future...hold on tight...it's gonna be a bumpy ride....or maybe it won't be.

And your world map is absolutely right. However, this game was sold globally and to suggest that Australians have less right to complain than you is rather a rude and obnoxious comment. Australia also has more than one time zone which you obviously did not account for. Three hours difference from East to West, just like America has time zone differences coast to coast. So for many in Australia, that would be 8pm. Just saying.

I think the solution would be for Australians to have their own server, rather than have them perpetually whinging about inconvenient times and such. I'm not sure what Zenimax's criteria to have an Oceanic server would be though, given the population numbers:

North America - 246 million population
Europe (including Eastern Europe) - 731 million (excluding eastern Russia, otherwise would be over 1 billion)

Oceania (including countries like Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, Virgin Islands etc as well as Australia)- 36 million

If another server was going to happen, it'd prob be based in Singapore and service all of the SEA region.

But not all Aussies really care about downtime twice a week, like myself. 90% of games we play are like this, we get downtimes in our peaktimes and we get worse latency to cope with. Most of us get used to it, it's not a big deal really. A small vocal minority whinge on the forums.

I think the fact that they've changed our maintenance to Mondays and Thursdays is perfect- and in regular cycles we will get peak time over the weekend. That's enough of a compromise to satisfy me.
