On the good side, one of the major complaints people people currently have about ESO wont show up in some of these other games. Like the bots! I mean this is ZOS first mmo, clearly they were completely unprepared for bots and hackers! A tried and true MMO developer like NCSoft is certain to have the software needed to stop gold sellers, bots, and hackers dead in their tracks. Every one on the forums keeps saying how easy it is, after all.

I'm assuming this sarcasm? You know there will be bots. Hopefully not speedhacking, noclipping bots that take every resource in the zone, but there will be bots.

Just as soon as Zenimax gets their act together and gets all the major bugs/exploits/ mass amount of bots taken care of, I think then, the players will start coming back.

I for one unsubbed because it feels like they have no clue what they are doing, their patches really don't fix much for as long as they take the server down, they break stuff that worked, exploits galore in pve and pvp.

If they get this taken care of sooner, rather than later, im sure they will do just fine.

TL;DR Zenimax needs to get their "poop in a group."

Same here. I will revisit for sure. I enjoy ESO quite a bit, but some of the mechanics and features are frustrating. I still have some sub left so I will probably go ahead and get him through the VR levels, but not at midnight tonight :D

This is actually kind of funny (not the poster). No MMO company has ever showed less interest in stopping bots, hackers, and exploiters more then NCSoft. Look into their history of previous games, Aion GW2, Linage, you name it. Bots, hackers, exploiters flourish under any NC Soft owned game.

After reading this 'article', I could only conclude one thing: last minute hype grab from 'other' MMOs via badmouthing. Great business approach.

Widlstar is a really crappy game right now. I think the devs know this to an extent and are getting a lot of NCSoft pressure to money grab the initial launch based on hype (and now badmouthing). I don't anticipate Wildstar to go f2p, and it will survive because it appeals to a minute childish audience, but I'll check back on it in a few years to see if it's improved personally.

Kind of like what a lot of people are saying they will do in regards to ESO?

People (players) aren't developers. Best rule of business? Don't badmouth your competitors.

this is a topic that exists in every mmo forum for the history of mmos
oh no lotro will break ___
    eve will ruin ___
    wow will kill ____
    GW2 will destroy _____
    ESO will mangle ____
    PWI will murder ____
    EQ will *** _____

all mmos will have players, all new mmos will take some away leaving both with some players

and a the end of all that, WoW will release new content and draw from all other mmos after it back to wow for 2 months in a kind of in/out movement of population resembling the tides.

First time I seen this topic was on the AOC forums were war hammer was coming out and will destroy AOC. Of course if you looked at any game forum prior to ESO relese you read how read how that game was going to fail cause ESO was coming out.

90 percent of the posts on these forums could be copied and pasted for any mmo forum over the last ten years. They are all pretty much the same posts the only difference is the specific details. Like the name of the company proper nouns of abilities

Beyond that pretty much the same posts you saw 10 years ago on pick any mmo forum

I didn't read them "bad mouthing" anyone O.o

"It's been a strange old year for MMOs. Where once it seemed the subscription model was all but dead, the relative successes of both Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and The Elder Scrolls Online suggest that, perhaps, the ageing business model might not be so long in the tooth after all.

Of course, one of the main strengths those two titles have going for them is the fact both are the latest entries in wildly successful franchises that don't typically inhabit the MMO space, ensuring a healthy dose of interest in both from genre veterans and newcomers alike."
